Poll: California Voters Deliver Resounding
‘No’ to Cash Reparations for Slavery

Original Article

Posted By: Beardo, 9/10/2023 2:46:00 PM

The concept of the state delivering cash payments as reparations to the descendants of enslaved African Americans is opposed by California voters by a 2-to-1 margin, a poll released Sunday reveals. (snip) Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers created California’s Reparations Task Force in 2020 with the goal of establishing a path to reparations that could serve as a model for the nation. (snip) Reparations for black residents in California are forecasted to cost $800 billion — more than twice the cost of the state’s entire annual budget, but activists say that is not enough.

Here's California logic: because so many people polled said no to free money to people who did nothing for it, that _proves_ the state is racist and therefore not only should they get money, they should get even more money to make up for this new racism.

O.K. Once again students. The definition of reparations is...taking money from people who never owned slaves and giving it to people who never were slaves so they will vote for democrats.

Reparations were paid in the 1860s to ex slaves. All others.....kiss my hind end. You were not slaves, and mostly never even MET a former slave. You are "owed" a fair chance at a job you are qualified for, and NOT ONE THING MORE.

Since California never was a slave state or part of the Confederacy, what would be the reason for paying reparations. You be paying money to people who were never enslaved nor had ancestors that were enslaved by California and taxing the current citizens of California that have never owned slaves to pay these reparations. This injustice would inflicted for something that didn’t happen.

Later in the article there is information regarding the price tag; how they will calculate the "compensation" for societal ills suffered by blacks only due to their unique status as descendants of slaves. It states “for health disparities, the task force recommends $13,619 for each year of residency in California — a figure that was derived by comparing life expectancy between Black non-Hispanic and white non-Hispanic Californians." I find it interesting that two major racial groups in California must be defined against a cultural group that in most other circumstances they insist must considered another race. Or, are they are being discriminatory and racists in excluding black Hispanics who have a slave history? “To compensate for mass incarceration and over-policing, the task force recommends eligible descendants receive $2,352 for each year of residency in California during the war on drugs from 1971 to 2020." Forty-nine years, wow! Would this include babies born in 1971, and not subject to incarceration and over-policing until, say, age 15? “Compensation for housing discrimination totaled $3,378 for each year between 1933 and 1977 that a descendant resided in California.” Going back to 1933? How did they grab that year, out of hat? There is hope for my poor, beleaguered state in that two-thirds of the voters are against this scam. Even the Democrats are split; 43% in favor and 41% opposed. Republicans are 90% opposed, and Independents were 65% opposed in 22% in favor. The reasons are obvious: FTA: "They responded that 'it’s unfair to ask today’s taxpayers to pay for wrongs committed in the past,' as picked by 60 percent of voters, and 'it’s not fair to single out one group for reparations when other racial and religious groups have been wronged in the past,' chosen by 53 percent." This must go down in flames. We are already bankrupt; morally and financially. If the radical racists get away with this in California, they will take this nonsense national. Be forewarned, be forearmed. MAGA

California got a lot of economic growth in the past from the labor of migrant farm workers from Mexico. How about California propose "reparations" for the labor and suffering of Cesar Chavez' people? How about the Dust Bowl "Okies"? Don't they deserve something? (And how 'bout that? White Californians are so racist they are racist against other White people.) Chinese railroad workers and launderers? (And the ongoing perception that these were the only Chinese contributions to Californian prosperity.) Japanese internees? (Maybe a federal program, but Californians, what happened to all the internees' stuff while they were being interned?) Let's see how the Californian ethnic groups vote on all these propositions. Or how about just survey on the whole idea of reparations for people were not directly part of the "racism" any particular group suffered? That would eliminate ONE group.

Democrat politicians, like ALL politicians, simply cannot resist taking money from some and giving it to "more deserving" others. Deciding exactly WHO is more deserving than someone else is often RACISM in itself, but these days we are not allowed to SAY that. SO, some will pursue racism to ameliorate racism. Not so smart. Kind of like "Kill for Peace."

My suggestion: There are people who say that black people living today -who were never slaves- should receive 'reparations' from other (unsaid but implied "whitey") people who never owned slaves. Let those people who SAY they are in favor of paying reparations, make the payments out of their OWN pockets! Leave the rest of us alone! If that becomes the case, I would wager that the survey results would change significantly.

Gov Newsom has created a mess for himself. If he doesn't deliver on the results of his task force, he angers a lot of his black voters. If he does deliver on the results of his task force, he not only angers most of the other voters, but also bankrupts the state. He must be betting on the fact that Biden is toast and that he will be running for President when the stuff hits the fan, so no longer his problem.

A prankster crashed the famous New York Fashion Week wearing a trash bag and shower cap until security pulled him off the runway. Video of the moment went viral on Tuesday, which showed prank YouTuber Fred Beyer walking the runway in his get-up, which none of the spectators seemed to notice was fake until security charged him from behind. People online had a field day mocking the moment, saying it highlights the depths to which modern fashion (and art, for that matter) has plunged when spectators at a lucrative fashion show could not tell the difference between a man wearing a trash bag and a model wearing a designer outfit.
