The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has reported fuel contamination could impact residents who are evacuating from Florida’s coast.
FDACS reported fuel contamination has occurred at dozens of gas stations that were serviced by the Port of Tampa.
In a press release, FDACS revealed, “Any fuel purchased after 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, at stations supplied by Citgo from the Port of Tampa has a strong likelihood of being contaminated with diesel fuel.”

So I presume that the gas station owner will have to pump out the contaminated tanks and clean out the contaminated piping before they can get back to business? Hope nobody's home generators got put out of action.

Who knows. accidents happen. Ecoterrorists happen. Not a good time to get stuck trying to flee.

My tinfoil hat buzzed alive on this story. What better way to clog the evacuation routes than with a bunch of disabled vehicles thereby insuring more death and injury that can be laid at the feet of the "incompetent" governor of Florida....
What a coincidence that this problem occurred ONLY at the location where a hurricane was imminent within days, and with a popular Republican governor that is running for President.

This has got to be terrorism. I can understand if one or two stations got affected, but as it stands now, that is just too many to be a coincidence. And timed just before the storm. If anyone dies because of contaminated fuel, I hope somebody gets prosecuted for murder. As the great detectives of fictional history have said, 'there are no such thing as coincidences'.

Think CITGO is owned by Venezuela, but the oil comes from the US.

Our existence is becoming like the movies. So many sinister things are happening in America and around the world. The communists don't just murder people outright anymore; they're killing people with raging fires, this incident, fake wars, fake pandemics, fake cures for pandemics, fake insurrections, fake election interfering charges, etc. Everything they do is designed to kill, steal, and destroy. We're fighting an unseen plain as day enemy every single day.

Actually not a problem. A little diesel in gasoline is fine.

We had a storm knock out power- DH inadvertently put old gas in the generator.. brand new generator would not start.. took awhile to figure out what happened.. fortunately, the weather was pleasant, power off only 24 hrs..
But it was aggravating!

OP, you may be on to something. I would think the gas would be tested prior to loading it in tanker trucks. One thing is certain, the policies of this administration are harmful because they are so ideologically driven. Add to that the complete incompetency the administration brings to every situation and you end up with a situation like this.
#1, That would not surprise me in the least. Democrats would allow people to suffer if it meant they could work it out to their political advantage. Malevolence and incompetence are dangerous combinations and they appear to be this cabal’s superpower. Nothing good comes from evil.

See! If only you had an electric car...you'd be safe as houses. And just think, if you get your power from wind, it's a bonanza. Oh wait...windmills aren't safe in a hurricane. Never mind. I wonder where this country's Evil Left will go, once they've destroyed the USA. Answer: they're rich globalists. They can go anywhere they like.

I would think a small amount of diesel in the gas might make the car run a little rough, but would not make it stop.
It would depend on just how badly it was contaminated.

"Contaminated" with diesel? To me, ethanol is a much bigger contamination. Or water. You could put a gallon of diesel in a full tank of gas with no ill effect on the fuel system. Your tailpipe might belch out a bunch of smoke, but you'll be fine.

Waiting for the "official" government explanation that gasoline is unsafe; electric vehicles are the only answer. (Imagine thousands of evacuating drivers waiting for one charging station.)

I don't know if this was terrorist or not but people in Florida have had several days of warning about this approaching hurricane so anyone who waits til the last minute to fuel up their car or truck has little sympathy from me. And let's face it, Florida has the response to hurricanes down pat. The biggest inconvenience for people is the loss of electricity. All this whining...

I don't know if you can put some diesel in a gas powered machine, but you CANNOT put gas in a Diesel engine without finding out within two blocks you've made an $800 mistake.

This looks pretty suspicious. What timing! If this turns out to be sabotage, the responsible parties should be taken to the middle of the Everglades and left there to commune with the alligators, snakes, and the rest of God's critters.

Contaminated is one thing, heavy contamination is another. Most cars will run OK with a very small amount of diesel.
