The federal judge presiding over former President Trump’s election fraud case has ordered his attorneys to respond to prosecutors’ request for a protective order by Monday, according to a court filing Saturday.
Judge Tanya Chutkan gave Trump’s attorneys a single business day to respond to special counsel Jack Smith’s request for a strict protective order which would prevent Trump from discussing case evidence in public. Smith made the request last Friday after Trump made a social media post appearing to threaten witnesses in the case.
“IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!” Trump wrote on Truth Social Friday.
The Trump campaign has since said the post

The Department of Justice implored U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan to issue a protective order curtailing Donald Trump’s ability to share information about his indictment online. Chutkan is presiding over the trial of Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., on four charges related to his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election,
“If the defendant were to begin issuing public posts using details — or, for example, grand jury transcripts — obtained in discovery here, it could have a harmful chilling effect on witnesses or adversely affect the fair administration of justice in this case,” special counsel Jack Smith wrote in his court filing on Friday.

Many conservative analysts have recoiled in disgust at the way the Department of Justice has become increasingly politicized and weaponized, acting as a tool of leftist Democrats in recent years. There has been no clearer example of this than the way they have attempted to cook up multiple avenues to put Joe Biden’s primary political opponent, former President Donald Trump, in jail before he can have the opportunity to take back the White House. But now that Trump has actually spoken out about this, the Associated Press and other media outlets are feigning outrage over the idea that a thorough housecleaning of the DoJ is in order.

With the first presidential primary debate set to take place at the end of August, the race for the White House is finally getting started, and things will only heat up as the temperature grows colder.
What that will bring as far as the dynamics of either primary, I don’t know. What I do know is that Joe Biden and Donald Trump are the presumptive nominees at this moment in time. With that matchup in mind, the latest ABC News poll has been released, and it’s a disaster for everyone involved. We’ll start with Donald Trump, as there are several ancillary questions asked about his recent indictment to discuss.

On Friday’s broadcast of “CNN This Morning,” Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) stated that people have negative views of President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy because they haven’t gotten over their feelings from “the last year of the Trump administration, in which he did absolutely nothing to protect people from coronavirus.” Pritzker also blamed “the false rhetoric coming from the Republicans, who are pushing Facebook fakery.”
Co-host Poppy Harlow asked, “He’s just not resonating with voters on the economy. We have this new CNN polling out this week, 63% of folks disapprove of how he’s handling the economy, 70% disapprove of how he’s handling inflation.

One of the best online fundraising days for Democrats this year was the day of Joe Biden’s campaign launch — but even that day’s haul was meager compared to his campaign kickoff four years ago.
That’s among the findings of an analysis of fundraising for the first half of the year through ActBlue, the party’s primary donation processor. Small-dollar giving at the federal level totaled $312 million in the first half of 2023 — a drop-off of more than $30 million compared to this point in the 2020 cycle. The platform also had 32 percent fewer donors in the second quarter this year compared to four years prior, although

So a Democratic Party operative has once again indicted Donald Trump on transparently foolish grounds. The result of the Democrats’ seeming obsession with Trump is that he continues to dominate headlines and suck up oxygen nearly three years after he lost the presidential race in 2020. This is truly extraordinary.
Did Jimmy Carter dominate headlines in 1983, years after he was thrashed by Ronald Reagan? Was Walter Mondale a fixture in the press in 1987, after being clobbered by Reagan in 1984? Were the papers full of commentary on Michael Dukakis in 1991, three years after he was obliterated by George H.W. Bush? How about John McCain and Mitt Romney?

I have to say that there’s one guy at CNN who seems to be willing to go out on a limb (for that network) to drop data that may not be good for Joe Biden and the Democrats. That’s Harry Enten.
Enten just dropped some polling news that’s not going to make Joe Biden and the Democrats happy.
Now, as I say with every poll, it’s early, and it’s a poll. It’s an indication – things can change. But it’s looking good for former President Donald Trump, not so much for Joe Biden.
Enten explains that despite inflation easing some, Biden’s approval hasn’t gotten any better, and that should be worrying for him.

In an op-ed piece for the New York Times on Wednesday, David Brooks had the headline, “What if We’re the Bad Guys Here?” In it, Brooks struggles with the question of why Trump has a commanding lead over the other GOP hopefuls and why he seems essentially tied with Joe Biden on a national basis. All of this despite the fact that Trump continues to rack up indictments like a grandma on a winning bingo streak at The Villages.
To his credit, Brooks does conduct a fairly exhaustive self-examination. In the piece, he enumerates the ways and provides examples of how America’s elites have lost touch with, well, everyone else.

Former US President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty at a Washington DC court during his third appearance as a criminal defendant in four months.
Mr Trump denied charges of conspiring to obstruct and overturn the 2020 election result.
The former president, 77, spoke softly to confirm name and age, before pleading not guilty via his lawyer.
Mr Trump was seen in the courtroom twiddling his thumbs before Thursday's hearing began. It appeared that Mr Trump and Jack Smith, the special prosecutor leading the investigation, exchanged glances.
After the hearing began, he spoke softly in a calm and measured tone to confirm his name and age and to affirm

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has accepted California governor Gavin Newsom‘s challenge to debate.
The back-and-forth between the two governors began in June, when Fox News’ Sean Hannity asked Newsom if he would be willing to debate DeSantis.
“I’m all in. Count on it,” the California governor said.
“You would do a two-hour debate with Ron DeSantis?” Hannity replied.
“Make it three,” Newsom said.
On Wednesday evening, Hannity reiterated his proposal: “I floated the idea of a policy-based debate, you know, red vs. blue, red state vs. blue state, between Gavin Newsom and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.”

Florida officials said Wednesday that nearly 40% of the people arrested in one part of the state in a recent operation cracking down on child sex exploitation were in the U.S. illegally — amid continued concerns from Republicans about criminals and sex offenders coming in across the southern border.
Officials said that seven out of 19 people arrested in Bay County, Florida, were in the country illegally. Five have no record showing lawful entry into the U.S. One man was admitted on a B-2 visitors visa that expired in 2021, and another was admitted on a J-1 student visa that also expired in 2021.
