These two events are not coincidental.
Ron DeSantis megadonor Robert Bigelow (below right) is already into the failing DeSantis campaign for $20 million.
Billionaire donor Bigelow tells Reuters that he has told the DeSantis managers the candidate needs to take moderate positions, or he will not donate any more money {LINK HERE}. Ron DeSantis is then questioned by reporters in Iowa about the Trump indictment and the claims of the 2020 election being stolen. Immediately DeSantis changes his talking points. “All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true…”

Forgot to add that this strategy seems particularly naive when one considers that 70% of Republican voters—according to an article posted farther down—believe the election was stolen.

Reliance on big donors is a problem for nearly every Republican candidate except President Trump. The chart here tells the story.

Well well well. Dessntis is of no value to me if he can't admit voter integrity is the prime issue facing the nation. Of no value to the country.
Do not tell me none of the stuff ***i saw w my own eyeballs*** was not substantiated. Yes, Ron, that's your problem to fix, not deny.

When a politician worries more about being electeded instead of right from wrong they are no longer honest,
And all we get is more of the same.

Almost all politicians are whores, they do what they do for money. Pay enough money and they'll do anything.
THIS is the HUGE difference with Trump. He's too rich to be bought by the 'megadonors'.

Just because all the evidence was destroyed doesn't mean it didn't happen. If he said that then that pretty much means he is alright with it. That disqualifies him in my book.

I had high hopes for him before he hit the national stage. Now its over.
The biggest difference between a hooker and a politician is that when you hire a hooker, it is a voluntary transaction that brings pleasure, and if you arent interested you dont have to pay. Politicians are quite the opposite.

Soooo happy that his true colors are being exposed well before the election. I'm still bruised from my enthusiasm over Romney picking Paul Ryan. If only we had known then what we know now.

Well, well, well. We were just reading and replying about this - with the usual suspects playing their usual ostrich defense - and here it is. Ignore CTH at your peril.

Here is what he said. Jumped right in with an unequivocal “false”. And he has no sbstantiation for that.
Aug 4 (NYT) – Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said that claims about the 2020 election being stolen were false, directly contradicting a central argument of former President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.
The comments went further than Mr. DeSantis typically goes when asked about Mr. Trump’s defeat. The governor has often tried to hedge, refusing to acknowledge that the election was fairly conducted. In his response on Friday, Mr. DeSantis did not mention Mr. Trump by name — saying merely that such theories were “unsubstantiated.” But the implication was clear.
“All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true,”
He should know that their truth was never fully investigated.

What does he mean by "More Moderate Positions"? Is DeSantis supposed to cave to the Left? No way! We love him just the way he is. We don't need another Rino.

There is something very wrong here.
I've watched DeSantis pretty closely for some time and been impressed. He speaks well, handles hostile media with aplomb, and says, mostly, the things I want to hear from someone who could be president. I believe Democrats fear DeSantis and would much rather face a distracted Trump.
So, crazy as it may sound, Trump and Democrats have a common interest in getting DeSantis out of the way, the sooner the better. Seems to me there's been a massive campaign in recent weeks--Media, Trump, Democrat--to diminish the man. And then comes this "Megadonor tells DeSantis what to say about 2020" story. So, this Megadonor goes public and essentially guts his own guy? Yeah,, that makes sense.
And with a few words about "unsubstantiated theories," the sky falls down on him, the vitriol flows, he's a lapdog, a phony, who's been fooling true believers all along? I think he is in the process of being taken down. The curriculum bullcrap and now this. Next week it'll be something else. He doesn't deserve it.

To state that the 2020 claims were “false” was pretty blun. The “unsubstantiated” bit is hugely disingenuous when surely RDS knows that attempts to investigate the 2020 election were thwarted. There were many reports of election misconduct and outright faud. Those should have brought an investigation. Then he and we would know if the claims were subtstantiated or not.
This was a politially stupid thing for him to do. You cannot be conservative one minute and a moderate the next. Vdters wonder “what next? "He has also had “authenticity” issues. This doesn’t help. Those close to him have dsclosed that his Jill heavily influenced him as governor and still does so in his campaign. Right down to the play do makeup she convinced him to wear.

Some may attempt to water down what he said but most know that this was a majorchange - due to donor pressure or just a dhange of heart? Still unacceptable.
NYT Headline:
"DeSantis Dismisses Trump’s 2020 Election Theories as False
The Florida governor went further than he has before in acknowledging that the election was not stolen as a major donor pressured him to appeal to moderates.”

I also had high hopes for DeSantis, as a backup for Trump if the 'Rats succeeded in preventing Trump from actually running in the general election.
I did not pay much attention to the 'curriculum' squabble, but this -from CTH- is much more damaging in my eyes.
On the other hand, I had heard of Vivek Ramaswamy, then I heard him on 'Clay and Buck' the other day, and he sounded good to me. I would like to learn more about him.
I understand that like Trump, he has enough money that the Uniparty cannot buy him. I have hope for him in the future..... if we can hold the country together long enough for him to 'season' into the person we need.

I don't have anything against DeS other than he is owned by the rino donors and deep state. Otherwise, there is no way he will gather +80 million votes to defeat the dim crime state in 2024. Assuming election fraud is reasonably contained, that is. Why? Because the pubbie voter circular firing squad has already formed.
Side note - if Trump somehow becomes unable to continue running in 2024, my eyes are wide open for {fill in the blank} or whoever, to beat the hell out of the left.
