NBC is reporting — with a supposed sense of shock — the results of a Monmouth poll that nearly one-third of Americans think the 2020 presidential election was rigged. And they further reiterate that there is no evidence for fraud. There's no evidence widespread fraud affected the outcome of the 2020 election, but Trump and allies have spent years undercutting the election's legitimacy. Wow! It must be so. The main stream media assure us that the election was honest. Yet one third of Americans still believe the election was a fraud. I am shocked, shocked. Anyone who questions the election result is called a fascist or subjected to a lawsuit or prosecution.

Fifty years ago, in 1973, a cross-cultural phenomenom occurred. A Spanish folk group from the Basque region lost the Eurovision contest to singer from Luxembourg, who sang a lesser-remembered tune: “Tu Te Reconnaitras,” thus proving that cultural contests are often worthless barometers of taste.
The runner-up loser was the group Mocedades which sang “Eres Tú.” Within months the losing, but quite catchy, tune became a worldwide phenomenom. It reached number 9 on the U.S. charts, which was amazing, given our American tendency to live in a bubble of monolingualism. Some translated versions were made, and they were just pitiful.

We see that congressional Republicans’ constipation has flared up again. It’s a chronic, though voluntary, distress. Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, and Alejandro Mayorkas are begging to be impeached, yet Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other bunged-up House Republicans refuse to extrude. It’s time to -- well, you know what -- or get off the flippin’ pot. True justice -- unfashionable among most “progressives” -- demands action.
