Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, led by Reps. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) and James Comer (R-KY), have given President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas two weeks to disclose the number of illegal aliens the agency has released directly into American communities through its massive parole pipeline.
When Biden took office in late January 2021, he blew open the use of the nation’s parole authority that allows foreign nationals to enter the United States on a very limited, case-by-case basis.

Astronomers have been able to “hear” the celestial hum of powerful gravitational waves, created by collisions between black holes, echoing across the universe for the first time.
Their observations reveal that the waves — including some that slowly undulate as they pass through our Milky Way galaxy — occur at different frequencies and oscillate for decades.
The discovery could help scientists better understand cosmic phenomena like supermassive black holes and how often galaxies merge. Gravitational waves, initially predicted by Albert Einstein in 1916, are ripples in space-time that were first detected in 2015. Astronomers found the waves by tracking pulsars, or the dense remnants of cores

Internal Revenue Service whistleblower Gary Shapley defended his claims that Hunter Biden got special treatment from the Department of Justice in an interview on Fox News' "Special Report." Shapley, a 14-year veteran of the agency, has come forward with accusations that prosecutors put an investigation into Hunter Biden's finances "on the back burner" as the 2020 election approached. He further claims that David Weiss, the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in Delaware, said privately on several occasions that he was not pulling the strings and that he was not in charge of the investigation.
Shapley said he was in a meeting last fall when Weiss admitted he was not calling the shots.

“I am not a crook,” proclaimed Richard Nixon shortly before he resigned in disgrace.
And he wasn’t. At least not in the ordinary sense. Some lowlifes hired by an overzealous Committee to Reelect the President burglarized the Democrats at the Watergate Hotel. Nixon then foolishly tried to cover it up. That amounted to the technical and manufactured “crime” of obstruction of justice. But what Nixon himself did was not burglary – the burglary was committed without Nixon’s knowledge.
Then there’s Joe Biden.

“Presumed human remains” have been recovered from the seafloor in the area of the doomed Titan submersible debris field, the US Coast Guard said Wednesday.

US medical professionals will analyze the presumed remains, the Coast Guard said. Also Wednesday, huge pieces of the submersible were hoisted onto a Canadian pier, according to the company leading the effort and photos of the task.

My home state of California is Bizzarroland, totally over the edge. It was bad enough, but now it has crossed the Rubicon and blown up the bridge and burned the boats. The Golden State is set to take away parental rights and create a police state where a court and judge must (not may) affirm a child’s chosen made-up gender “identity.” But that same California requires permission for a minor to get a tattoo. Make sense of it. I can’t. Soon in California, if the Democrat super-majority gets its way, confused children can be taken from a parent(s) and chemically castrated and mutilated at the minor’s request.

What if you held an election and less than 200,000 registered voters showed up? Based on preliminary ballot counts by the New York City Board of Elections, that’s what happened in Tuesday’s primary election
Because of state redistricting in 2022, NYC Council elections were held two years earlier than usual with no hotly contested citywide, state or federal races on the ballot to draw voters to the polls, political analysts said.
Of all five boroughs, Bronx voters, in particular, couldn’t be bothered.
Only about 5.3% of registered Democrats cast ballots in the primary race for Bronx District attorney between incumbent Darcel Clark and challenger Tess Cohen.

Biden was heading out to hit up rich Democrats for hefty campaign contributions at a fundraiser in ritzy Chevy Chase, Md., and Team Biden shut down the Beltway so Biden’s motorcade could travel unseen and unimpeded by any peasants.
The shutdown caused more than five miles of backups and sowed disruptions for hours after it ended.

It's been nearly three weeks since former President Donald Trump announced that he had been indicted in the classified documents investigation. On June 8, the day of the announcement on Trump's Truth Social network, the former president's lead over top challenger Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was 30.3 points in the RealClearPolitics average of national polls. Today, Trump's lead over DeSantis is 30.6 points. A federal indictment, on top of a local prosecutor's indictment in New York City, seems not to have affected Trump's national poll numbers at all.
By the old standards of politics, it makes no sense. How could Trump be indicted twice

Sources close to former President Trump say he has a plan for keeping Congress from ever again forcing him into “disgraceful” and “ridiculous” spending situations. If he returns to the White House, Trump will seek to resurrect authority that Congress stripped from the presidency almost a half century ago.
What President Nixon squandered, his campaign promises, Trump will restore, namely the impoundment power. “A lot of you,” the former president told a New Hampshire crowd Thursday, “don't know what that is.” Indeed, few now remember it. Impoundment, if restored, would allow a president, in theory, to simply refuse to spend appropriations by Congress.

As for the patients who would benefit from those drugs — or may even need them to stay alive? They may end up being collateral damage.

An Axios story over the weekend carried the headline: “Biden’s 2024 vision: Play 2020 again.” If true, that means Joe Biden will be running against himself, because the attacks he lodged against then-President Donald Trump four years ago – on the economy, on COVID, on disunity, on corruption – all look worse today.
Before COVID, for example, Biden was attacking the economy, arguing that, despite the 40-year low unemployment rate in late 2019, things were worse than ever.
