Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Daniel Werfel denied intervening to retaliate against a whistleblower in the Hunter Biden investigation, a report claims. Werfel denied the allegations of retaliation in a May 17 letter to the House Ways and Means Committee, which was obtained by Fox News. In the letter, the commissioner said that the reassignment of the whistleblower was at the direction of the Department of Justice and was not his doing. "I want to state unequivocally that I have not intervened – and will not intervene – in any way that would impact the status of any whistleblower," Werfel said.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday the two sides are 'nowhere near' a deal that would avoid a U.S. default, just hours after both he and President Joe Biden declared negotiators had made progress. Even as negotiators for the White House and the speaker's office sat down again in earnest Tuesday, the messaging war ramped up as McCarthy issued a memo titled 'reasonable Republicans and default Democrats' that blasted Biden for failing to engage in talks sooner. 'Make no mistake: any default would be the Biden Default,' he wrote.

He is among the ten most cited authors in the humanities—trailing only Marx, Lenin, Shakespeare, the Bible, Aristotle, Plato, and Freud—and the only living member of the top ten. Last year The New Yorker called him ‘one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century’.” Were it not for this status, many of his obsessive and outlandish political ideas would

Over the weekend, President Joe Biden claimed that some Republicans are hoping that the talks over raising the debt ceiling fail and the government defaults on its debt. “I think there are some MAGA Republicans in the House who know the damage that it would do to the economy, and because I am president, and the president’s responsible for everything, Biden would take the blame,” he said. What Biden is claiming assumes, of course, that things are going swimmingly right now, a point the president repeatedly makes, and how it’s all thanks to his policies.CORRECTION*

Two enduring aphorisms emerged from the Watergate affair, both directed at then-president Richard Nixon. The one at the outset of the investigation was delivered in the form of a question: “What did he know and when did he know it?” The second came at the end in the form of a warning to future presidents: “The cover-up is worse than the crime.” Thanks to the Durham report, we know the date that then-president Barack Obama learned about what John Durham calls the “Clinton Intelligence plan.” If CIA Director John Brennan’s notes are to be believed, that date was August 3, 2016. This was the day Brennan briefed Obama

Former President Donald Trump is edging out President Biden in a hypothetical 2024 presidential matchup, the latest survey from The Economist/YouGov found. The survey asked respondents who they would support in an election between Trump and Biden and found the former president leading by two percent — 44 percent to 42 percent — among registered voters. Notably, Trump enjoys an edge among independent voters as well, leading Biden 36 percent to the 80-year-old’s 30 percent in that group:

Oracle co-founder and Republican megadonor Larry Ellison is preparing to spend millions of dollars backing Sen. Tim Scott’s run for president. The plans have been in motion since the 2022 midterms, when Ellison donated $30 million to a pro-Scott super PAC, Opportunity Matters Fund, according to people familiar with the Oracle executive chairman’s plans. People who declined to be named for this story did so in order to speak freely about private planning and deliberations. Scott announced his campaign Monday. A Republican strategist and fundraiser close to Ellison told CNBC that the businessman’s donations to the super PAC this time are likely to at least double

An IRS agent working on criminal tax probe involving Hunter Biden says the DOJ passed him over for a promotion and removed him from the investigation for flagging alleged favorable treatment given to the president's son. The male agent, who has not been identified, filed a formal complaint Monday into what he claims was backlash he suffered for acting as a whistleblower into alleged unfair treatment. His complaint comes days after the Department of Justice removed the entire team probing Hunter Biden's tax returns.

I’m having a hard time figuring out what’s come over Disney. I realize it’s been decades in the making, but they always hid their latent Machiavellian tendencies behind a veneer of creepy family friendliness as guardians of the wholesome and right. For example, ever make the mistake of wearing something that could be misconstrued as drug-culture related to a park in the 80s? In my own personal experience, it was DisneyLAND, circa late 1987. Recently returned from a WestPac deployment, I was escorting an elderly friend from Scotland and taking her for a day at the Magic Kingdom. I was also wearing a t-shirt earned at

A professor at a New York City art college has drawn the ire of social media after a video showed her hurling obscenities at pro life students over a display at their school that she eventually destroyed. Shellyne Rodriguez, 46, is an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts and Hunter College in the Big Apple. She's also an artist and activist who claims her work 'utilizes text, drawing, painting, collage and sculpture to depict spaces and subjects engaged in strategies of survival against erasure and subjugation,' according to her bio.
