Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will announce he is running for president during a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk, three sources familiar with the plans told NBC News.
Musk and DeSantis will host an event on Twitter Spaces, the site’s platform for audio chats, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET. It will be moderated by David Sacks, a tech entrepreneur who is a Musk confidant and DeSantis supporter. That same evening, the campaign will release a launch video, and DeSantis will begin visiting several early states after Memorial Day. The relationship could be a significant boost for DeSantis by giving him an introduction to, and credibility with, Musk’s massive following

All arranged, preprogrammed, scripted. No grass roots in sight.
And then:
The announcement will coincide with a retreat for high-end fundraisers pledged to support DeSantis in Miami. Bundlers will gather at the Four Seasons hotel from May 24-26, receiving briefings from campaign staff, combined with time to call around to raise money for the campaign.
The DeSantis team has been in talks with Musk for at least the last few weeks, according to a source familiar with the discussions. In those conversations, the source said, Musk has indicated he doesn’t think former President Donald Trump can win back the White House.
“He’s interested in the future, and he’s interested in winning again,” the person said.
Well, swell. We are all interested in the future. We also don’t want a repeat of the stolen 2020 election, so we cannot simply disregard the past. As for winning in Florida elections, Trump helped him a lot with that. No mas…
Formerly interested in DeSantis, I have found myself losing interest by the hour. He is turning into someone Karl Rove and his billionaire supporters built from a kit. President Trump had more authenticiity in his little finger.

We'll have to wait and see if any of the "gentleman" at the local watering hole dive bar are considering running for Prez. They may declare NO and the cameras/reporters will be on their merry way. The circular firing squad will probably need a bigger debate stage.

A great start for DeSantis. Using Twitter bypasses the MSM, which they deserve (though he'll be on Fox at 8PM Eastern).

Trump's my guy but I do recognize the excessive baggage he carries. He IS the best option for our nation, but all the gears in the mechanisms hate him. If they refuse to mesh because he's in charge - we all still lose (dam them). Actually - getting Musk was a clever move on RDS' part. And right up until my states' primaries - I will be listening intently to most of our lineup. There's a few who haven't got a prayer tho.

Establishment politics is what got us into this mess, Ron . America first isn’t something they care about much. Trump does.

I'm guessing the Bushes think Trump won't be in the running, for one reason or the other. But at this point, even if he isn't, I won't vote for DeSantis. He lost me with his connection to the Bushes. And that's a shame because I really liked him.

Sad. Political suicide. DeSantis could be the odds-on frontrunner in 2028 if he would sit this one out. Instead, he is going to alienate many of Trump's supporters, who will see him as a backstabber and back someone else in 2028.
Add that to the fact that he has no chance to beat Trump in the Republican primaries in 2024, I guess he will go back to Florida, finish up his second term as governor, and go work for CNN.
There is still time for DeSantis to announce that he is not running and is putting his 100% support behind Donald Trump. But it sure sounds like he is listening to his ego instead of his common sense. Like I said, just sad...
