This is a great idea. I am not Catholic, but I remember some Catholic student going to catechism classes during school hours. I wondered at the time how they could be allowed to do this.

When I was in 1st grade, I remember going to what we called "Thursday School." A bunch of us left school and took a bus to our various religious places (in my case, the local Catholic Church) to have classes. We were then picked up and taken back to the school to complete the day. This explains how that happened. Of course, this was the early 70's, well before such open hostility to organized religion had taken ahold of the nation.

In the mid-50s in Brooklyn, we marched to our respective parishes one day a week for religious instruction. In the late 50s in Florida, opening exercises included the Pledge of Allegiance and Bible readings. Good times.

White supremacy, domestic terrorism, and violent extremism are all on the rise, according to the FBI, the news media, and top government officials. They point to the January 6 Capitol riot, the Patriot Front white supremacists who recently marched in Washington D.C., and yesterday’s crash into a security barrier near the White House of a U-Haul truck carrying a Nazi flag. But there is no evidence that white supremacy, domestic terrorism, and violent extremism are actually on the rise. By filing multiple January 6 cases rather than a single one, FBI inflated the statistics, as we documented yesterday. Little is known about the almost entirely masked participants of the Patriot  CORRECION*

When the federal government sent $9,000 to Patty Myers to pay for her husband’s funeral, she got angry. “I didn’t want to take a penny. It felt like hush money, like they were paying me to keep quiet about how my husband died in the hospital. In a burst of inspiration, Patty decided to take the government’s money and use it to make a documentary. She found a director through a church friend on Facebook and created “Making A Killing,” which exposes the COVID hospital protocol that she believes killed her husband and thousands of other Americans. “When I started making this film, I didn’t know about the federal money

If we learned anything this week, we’ve learned that the continued life of this Constitutional Republic is in grave danger from the cabal of sociopaths in critical positions of power, and that it is because scaremongers and a supine press and judiciary have permitted enactment of dangerous legislation and illegal conduct to go on and on unpunished. Worse, the perpetrators are being richly rewarded for their violation of law and public trust.(Snip) The FBI misused Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) more than 278,000 times, the Washington Post reported, “including against crime victims, January 6 riot suspects, and people arrested at protests in the wake of the

The major science journals are growing increasingly hard left politically. The prestigious journal Science, in particular, has swallowed progressive ideology–including supporting the “nature rights” movement. The rights of nature–which include geological features–are generally defined as the right to “exist, persist, maintain and regenerate its vital cycles, structure, functions and its processes in evolution.” Nature is, of course, not sentient. So, this campaign is really about granting environmental extremists legal standing to enforce their policy desires through litigation as legal guardians serving nature’s best interests. But the movement has a problem. It is clearly ideological rather than rational. So now, three law professors and a biologist

If, in 1984, an inventive New Yorker set his time travel machine to the year 2023, the city in which he arrived would confound him. Although the New York City of today looks much like that of 1984, our time traveler would have a hard time understanding the people, almost as hard a time as H.G. Wells's "Time Traveler" did when his machine arrived in the year 802,701. The public response of the average New Yorker to the arrest of former Marine sergeant Daniel Penny calls to mind the "Eloi" response to Wells's Traveler. The Eloi were the little, pretty people of the future whom the Time Traveler encountered.

Conservative teenagers are, in general, significantly happier than their liberal peers, according to a study conducted by Columbia University. "The politics of depression: Diverging trends in internalizing symptoms among US adolescents by political beliefs," was published in the journal Social Science & Medicine – Mental Health in December and while its findings were striking, the reason behind the trend is unclear. Epidemiologist Catherine Gimbrone and her coauthors compared depressive attitudes of 12th-graders from 2005 to 2018 between those aligned with conservatism, which was defined in the study as "support of individual liberty, right-wing social and religious values, and unregulated free markets" and liberalism, which was defined as "support of equal

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is reportedly considering appointing Oprah Winfrey to the Senate should Dianne Feinstein retire early. Newsom has promised to appoint a black woman to the seat, and Oprah is one among a list of contenders he's considering, according to the Associated Press. Appointing Winfrey would spare Newsom from tipping the scales in California's contentious primary race in 2024. In that case, the celebrity talk show host would serve as a place holder who would not pursue the seat for a full six-year term. Newsom's office could not be reached for comment on the matter.

On Tuesday, a U-Haul crashed into a barricade outside the White House grounds. Immediately, speculation that the driver was a “white supremacist” after a Nazi flag was allegedly pulled from the wreck. In fact, the flag was spread out and displayed for reporters by the FBI agents on the scene. Why did they do that? Someone will have to ask them, but the narrative became a lot more complicated after the driver was identified as Sai Varshith Kandula. Needless to say, he didn’t exactly fit the “white supremacist” profile. Now, in a move that is sure to spark much speculation, the DOJ has suddenly downgraded the charges involved.
