A fight between Ted Cruz and AOC simply is not a fair one given the wide gulf in intellect between the two. This all came into view Tuesday. Before their little spat, a liberal “political scientist” named Norm Ornstein smeared Cruz by saying the Texas senator would have been “first in line” to filibuster the Civil Rights Act and Jim Crow. Cruz, who is the exact opposite of a racist, pointed out the obvious: Ornstein’s Democratic Party filibustered the Civil Rights Act while Republicans supported it in overwhelming numbers.

From a former teacher: MOST schools nowadays have just become like a processing plant. Classes are much too big. Classes are infused with "inclusion" students. "accommodation" students, program 504 students, and disruptive feral students. State mandates require teachers to teach on each student's level simultaneously. Of course this is impossible, so the teacher just dumbs down the lessons somewhere between the achievers and the stoners. "No student left behind" is just a euphemism for mediocracy. Lower level learners would benefit much more if they were grouped in classes taught on there level. Higher level learners would benefit much more grouped in classes where lessons are taught at the highest level. All of this "inclusion" dogma has diluted the quality of education to the point of lower level of education for ALL the students. High schools are huge nowadays. ...1,000+ , 2,000+ , 3000+ students in one building. The administrators and teachers must necessarily focus more on just managing the horde of students more than academics. Nowadays, there is a significant percentage of students that have not been socialized and civilized by their single, struggling mothers. 70% of these students were born out of wedlock. They tend to be rude, disruptive, and disrespectful to their teachers and others. Their disruptive behavior causes the teachers to take away from teaching as they have to manage the simian-like students. There is a saying among teachers - 80% of teaching is classroom management. Teachers don't hold back students anymore. They know making them repeat a grade will not make the kid any smarter, nor make the kid any more civilized. If all the student that do not meet even the low standards of today were held back, in a few years, they wouldn't be able to get all the kids inside the building. Consequently, schools have become more like a processing plant as teachers and administrators must run the kids through a process of semi-education. Kids go in one end and come out the other end in twelve years with much less than an effective education. Bureaucracy: I counted 100+ teachers on the payroll where I worked. (not counting administrators) Of those 100, only 60 were actually teaching classes and educating students. There were coaches teaching only one class and then going to the field house. A physical fitness trainer for athletes. Numerous "teacher support teachers" (never did figure out what they did). There were layers of non-teaching teachers. ...layers of administrators, and most of them wanted the teachers to fill out some kind of report for them from time to time. Teachers were required to attend "training sessions" every week to bring them up to date on the latest education system dogma about how to best teach students. It goes on and on. On my last day when I quit, I counted no less that 26 other teachers that quit. That's 26 out of 100 never to teach again. Teh percent of teachers quit after their first year. Forty percent quit after five years. ...must be a reason or two Parents, if at all possible, get your children out of the public school system. The system has been corrupted to the point of no child having an opportunity to reach anywhere near it's full potential.

After several failed attempts to delay her time behind bars, Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is set to report to federal prison this week. The disgraced entrepreneur was sentenced to over 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $452m (£365m) with her former business partner Sunny Balwani to dozens of high-profile investors they defrauded through a blood-testing start-up. It's a sizeable bill for the former billionaire, who has claimed she does not even have enough money to pay her lawyers. In US federal court, convicted offenders are sometimes ordered to pay restitution. This is a reimbursement to victims for lost income, property damage, medical expenses or other financial costs related to the crime.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan may have serenaded his supporters by singing off-key after his victory - but he is pitch perfect when it comes to fighting elections. He read the electorate better than the pollsters and analysts, who suggested he could be beaten by the opposition. Well, not this time. His opponent - Kemal Kilicdaroglu - was just four percentage points behind him. No doubt President Erdogan will be reflecting on that as he starts his third term in office. This strategic Nato nation has chosen its path, most voters opting for a seasoned autocrat rather than an untested democrat in the form of Mr Kilicdaroglu.

You can spot Turkey's global strategic significance - which has starkly increased against the backdrop of the Ukraine war - by the A-list potpourri of world leaders who rushed to congratulate Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election win on Sunday night. First out of the box was Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was so keen to stroke the ego of his Turkish counterpart and fellow "strongman" leader that he didn't even wait for the official results of the vote before singling out Mr Erdogan's "independent foreign policy" as a reason for his victory.

We are accustomed to defining racism as discrimination aimed exclusively at black people and other minorities. The definition must be expanded to include discrimination against whites, which is just as bad as discrimination against blacks or anyone else. What the political left calls “anti-racism” is really code language for racism against white people. An anti-white racial inquisition is poisoning America by contributing to an already divided nation. According to Gallup, the percentage of Americans who agree that black-white relations are good is at a 20-year low. A noted black college professor said, “We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet.”

New York City residents and tourists are in for a treat this Memorial Day as the phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge is set to appear for the first time this year in the city. Manhattanhenge, first coined by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson in 1997, only occurs four times a year – twice in May and twice in July. The spectacle occurs when the sun lines up with Manhattan's grid streets, creating a perfectly aligned sunset. "It’s insanely popular," American Museum of Natural History astrophysicist Jackie Faherty told USA TODAY in 2020. "People plan their vacations around coming to NYC to see it."

Under the guise of good social medicine, liberals and leftists have poisoned the culture with the colossal lie that “whiteness” is the culprit behind a “400-year pandemic of foundational racism” that’s keeping America sick. It’s being perpetrated by whites through “antiquated systems of oppression.” Whiteness, the creation of white people of European descent, they say, is a lopsided “system of privileges and advantages” that favors whites at the expense of people of color “through government policies, media portrayal, decision-making power with our corporations, schools, judicial systems, etc.”

There’s a popular meme that only two defining forces have offered to die for you - Jesus Christ for your soul and the American soldier for your freedom. There is no man who can ever compare with Christ but there is a kernel of truth to this meme. Shortly before his crucifixion, Jesus told his disciples, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one more than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” This is what military volunteers are prepared to do.

The idea that polluters should pay reparations for climate change is gaining steam among advocates. Some environmentalists and academics argue the companies or states that are most significantly contributing to the climate crisis should be made to compensate the people bearing the brunt of its impacts. Advocates have been calling for such reparations for years, especially since evidence emerged that fossil fuel companies were aware of the impact of carbon emissions. But the idea is now more practically achievable due to scientific advances, said Adrien Salazar, policy director at the nonprofit Grassroots Global Justice. He pointed to the increased sophistication

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, for example, has suggested that DeSantis’ political ambitions have caused him to lose sight of “values like loyalty.” The basis for this claim is that DeSantis somehow owes Trump a 21st century version of feudal fealty because the latter endorsed him during Florida’s 2018 gubernatorial race.
