Pressed to clarify his position, Sanders composed himself and offered only that he supports “equality of opportunity” over equal outcomes. He does? Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Daniel Werfel denied intervening to retaliate against whistleblowers in connection with the Hunter Biden complaint, according to a letter he sent to the majority and minority on the House Ways and Means Committee. Fox News obtained the letter sent by Werfel on May 17 in which he responded to concerns that whistleblowers may have faced retaliation for voicing concerns about the probe into the business dealings of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden.
"I want to state unequivocally that I have not intervened – and will not intervene – in any way that would impact the status of any whistleblower," Werfel said.

Politics is theater now, as Donald Trump showed during his recent CNN “town hall” interview, for which CNN is still taking heat. All the proper people are horrified, now. But they weren’t horrified when John F. Kennedy beat Nixon—though there was a wide, if not general, consensus that that election was stolen, in Chicago (which is why Senator Bob Dole wondered, in a letter read at his funeral, if he’d still be able to vote in Chicago). JFK was better at the theatrics that year: he was better-looking than Nixon; no five o’clock shadow; and he didn’t sweat under the klieg lights.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation failed to turn over a document subpoenaed by House Republicans that allegedly details a bribery scheme from then-Vice President Joe Biden. The agency refused to provide the document Monday in a private meeting with the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. The unclassified FD-1023 document details criminal allegations of a pay-to-play scheme related to the Biden family's business dealings, according to a whistleblower at the agency who spoke with Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.
Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a "state of emergency" on Monday in an attempt to stop a school choice bill from passing the state legislature. Cooper released a video announcement where he declared a state of emergency, arguing that the state of public education is "no less important" than other emergencies.
"It’s time to declare a State of Emergency for public education in North Carolina. There’s no Executive Order like with a hurricane or the pandemic, but it’s no less important," Cooper stated.

So when I sold my business and took early retirement in 2017, planning to get away from the Minnesota winters, I always thought I'd remain a resident of the state I love that had provided me so much. I truly love baseball. But more than baseball, I love God. Given the decision between being a fan of any sports team and supporting my religious beliefs, I know that God is my real captain and I will always choose my faith. California Gov. Gavin Newsom is reportedly considering appointing Oprah Winfrey to the Senate should Dianne Feinstein retire early.
Newsom has promised to appoint a black woman to the seat, and Oprah is one among a list of contenders he's considering, according to the Associated Press.
Appointing Winfrey would spare Newsom from tipping the scales in California's contentious primary race in 2024. In that case, the celebrity talk show host would serve as a place holder who would not pursue the seat for a full six-year term.
Newsom's office could not be reached for comment on the matter.

On Tuesday, a U-Haul crashed into a barricade outside the White House grounds. Immediately, speculation that the driver was a “white supremacist” after a Nazi flag was allegedly pulled from the wreck. In fact, the flag was spread out and displayed for reporters by the FBI agents on the scene.
