DeSantis announces bill banning 'social
credit scores'

Original Article

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced proposed legislation Monday that he says would preclude banks and other financial institutions from discriminating against potential customers based on religious, political, or social beliefs, with additional language to protect views on "securing the border, owning a firearm, and increasing our energy independence." In a statement, the governor also announced that the bill would forbid banking institutions from using "social credit scores" in banking and lending practices that would decide worthiness for loans, bank accounts, and lines of credit.

Comments:

More reasons many Floridians are reluctant to push DeSantis for President. We need him in the Sunshine State kicking wokesters out to sea.

It’s simple to me. if a government has monies that are not yet spent…it should invest them in funds that meet their risk and timing needs, and within those limits, to funds that offer the highest expected returns. The selection should not be biased to ”friends”, that is corruption. If it is necessary to add an ESG score to select funds…that is a strong demonstration that the ESG preferred funds are weaker than other offerers

You mean another law outlawing discrimination? How many times will this need to be done before the leftist lean discrimination is bad?

He could do for America what he's doing for Florida. I realize that is anathema to some, but they are the source of so much petty discontent and the reason we are so distracted now.

A favorite saying among insiders is that two weeks is a lifetime in politics, meaning anything can happen. In Joe Biden’s case, a mere five days was enough to turn his world upside down. The news Saturday that more classified documents were found in his Delaware home ends a bizarre week that suddenly put Biden’s presidency in peril and further damaged the sagging credibility of the Department of Justice.

The incident followed the third public hearing by the House panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.” This group supported President Trump’s policies and felt he did a tremendous job as president, but now feel the baggage that came with Trump would not be present with Ron DeSantis. Many have taken this a step further and believe this baggage would give DeSantis (or others) a better chance of winning in a general election against the Democrat nominee than President Trump.

There were two things that I missed during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. U.S. intelligence officials were tracking the spy balloon that was shot down earlier this month since it lifted off from the south coast of China, U.S. officials said Tuesday. According to U.S. officials, after takeoff, the spy balloon drifted east in the direction of Guam and Hawaii and then went north to Alaska and entered U.S. airspace on Jan. 28. Given the path, it's possible that the balloon was blown off course by weather, but U.S. officials said that once it came south over the continental United States, it was being controlled by China. U.S. military and intelligence agencies tracked the Chinese spy balloon for nearly a week before it violated American airspace last month, according to a new report. U.S. officials are considering the possibility that China did not intend to send the spy balloon over the continental United States, but instead took advantage of the balloon being blown off course to surveil sensitive locations in Montana.

The infrastructure for living without a smartphone in the West is slowly disappearing. Thanks to societal changes made during the pandemic-induced lockdowns of 2020, many temporary adjustments — QR code menus, digital boarding passes — have become permanent. Nowadays it’s rare to go to a restaurant without grabbing your phone for access to a menu or for ordering takeout. Some concert venues actually require guests to show their tickets from their mobile devices.
