No charges for 'Late Show' crew arrested
on Capitol Hill

Federal prosecutors said Monday they have declined to bring charges against nine people associated with CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” who were arrested in a building in the U.S. Capitol complex last month. The decision, made by the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, comes after prosecutors determined they “cannot move forward” with the misdemeanor charges against the nine people arrested June 16 in the Longworth House Office Building. The incident followed the third public hearing by the House panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Comments:

Of course. But it's understandable. All the jail cells were full of "insurrectionists."

the two tiered system of justice at work by our federal government and we will have to witness these injustices for the remainder of this year only adds to the frustration and anger level of every American citizen and should give rise to an enormous rise in voter retaliation against the demcommies we can no longer laugh these injustices off as a mere political tactic, this is very serious business

I am willing to concede that Robert Smigel, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and crew did not have any nefarious intent, merely trying to record some so-called comedy. I get that. The law should apply equally; perhaps a fine. But it appears that the January 6th trespassers were welcomed in with open doors by the Capitol Police. I also don't think they had any bad intent; hell, the door was open! They should have received a fine, and that would be the end of it. The justice system gives me agita!

Yet here just outside of San Marcus in Hays county, they send out 100 plus agents to harass a retired couple for being at the J6 rally while never entering the building. ATF, FBI, & swat team along with airplane, drones, and battering vehicle. This on June 22. What is that 18 months later. No arrest made but confiscated their phones & re-elect Trump shirts & hats.

Five years ago, Rep. Mo Brooks saw a unique opportunity to become a U.S. senator. Jeff Sessions had just left Capitol Hill to become the attorney general, and the Alabama congressman was ready for a promotion. He even thought he could receive support from Donald Trump — the incumbent president to whom Brooks had offered unconditional support. That didn’t work out. In the 2017 special election, Trump brushed off the Republican lawmaker and threw his support behind Luther Strange, who ended up losing to Roy Moore in a GOP primary.

The Washington Post on Tuesday praised President Joe Biden for restoring what it described as “a sense of dignity” to the presidential pardon process. Canada’s medical assistance in dying (MAiD) law is already the most permissive euthanasia and assisted-suicide legislation in the world. Understandably controversial in itself, there are many horror stories surrounding its implementation. For example, as lifesitenews.com recently reported, A 71-year-old widower was admitted to a Southwestern Ontario hospital after a fall. His family says during his admission he contracted an infectious diarrheal illness. He was humiliated by staff for the smell of his room, his family said. He developed a new shortness of breath that was not comprehensively assessed. In this context, a hospital team member suggested he would qualify for MAiD.

Adams called on President Biden to send “additional federal resources immediately” so the city can handle the overflow. “If we do not get these urgently needed resources, we may struggle to provide the proper level of support our clients deserve, while also facing challenges as we serve both a rapidly growing shelter population and new clients who are seeking asylum,” Adams said in a prepared statement. Adams said the illegal immigrants included families “arriving on buses

After intense backlash from local bodega workers and city tabloids, Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg on Tuesday dropped all charges against bodega clerk Jose Alba, who was allegedly acting in self-defense when he fatally stabbed a man who was attacking him. The liberal DA’s decision comes after weeks of criticism of Bragg’s decision to send the 61-year-old to Riker’s Island and charge him with second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Austin Simon. Bragg first requested Alba’s bail be set at $500,000 before it was lowered to $50,000 in response to criticism from the community. He was later released on a $5,000 bail bond.

Donald Trump’s flirtation with announcing a 2024 White House bid before the midterm elections is sending signals of self-doubt and political vulnerability, with Republican operatives saying the former president is motivating challenges to his supremacy over the party. Trump would begin any presidential primary with overwhelming advantages in popularity, name identification, and resources. But pulling the trigger on a third White House campaign prior to Election Day this November, as Trump concedes is possible, might boomerang. Rather than box out potential 2024 opponents and clear the field, such a move by the former president could reek of fear, inviting more competition for the Republican nomination.
