GM, Ford say electric vehicle price increases

General Motors (GM) and Ford, two of the largest U.S. automakers, pushed back on reports Tuesday that recent electric vehicle (EV) price hikes were related the Inflation Reduction Act. The two companies told FOX Business that recent price increases impacting certain EV models were influenced by inflation and supply chain issues and were announced before Democrats unveiled the legislation. Multiple conservative outlets reported this week that GM and Ford had raised the prices of certain electric models by between $6,000 and $8,500, roughly matching the $7,500 tax credit introduced under the inflation bill. "The pricing update is completely unrelated to the Inflation Reduction Act and the announcement was made

Comments:

The price increased just enough to consume the entire federal tax rebate, which should be illegal to begin with. That's OK; fedgov will just have to issue a second tax credit.

I can very safely say that this will have no bearing on my life in the least. I will never buy an electric car!!! Period!!! I am also in my mid-60's now. So even as they try to force us (one way or the other) to buy electric cars, I'm pretty sure it won't be 100% phased in until I am too old to drive, or too dead to care anymore!!!

I am 80 years old. They can stick their EVs up their butts. I think a 100 years from now when we get the battery technology to support this they might be a viable alternative. Not now and not for fifty years at a minimum. We are being ruled by incompetent sociopaths . Trump was right. They stole the election and they will steal it again if they can. Something tells me that if the tax credit was $10,000 the price hike would have been $10,000. Nothing like us tax payers having the Government steal more money so they can pass it on to their corporate donors via a tax credit.

Re #8, they said the same thing in 1880....."in a hundred years when they get these batteries figured out"....and in 1980, they said "in fifty years, when they get these batteries figured out..." and here it is nearly 150 years from the first electric car sold, and 183 years from the first electric car demonstrated, we are still waiting for a "practical battery". A Tesla battery pack contains the same amount of energy as a 3 gallon gas tank.....and when my Accord gets down that far, I know that I am about out of gas, so I refill, in about 5 minutes, back to 17 gallons and 600 miles range. That Tesla can't reasonably be charged beyond 80% due to slow charging rate in the last 20%, so realistically has the equivalent of 2.4 gallons of gas. My 4Runner says the tank is empty when it gets down that far. For 140 years.....the car of the future, and still it is so. Forget it until the Mr. Fusion like in Back to the Future II is practial, say in 200-300 years. Chemical batteries will never be worth a damn.

Firefighters in Seattle have demanded the city take action after they were subjected to more than 40 violent attacks in the past four months—a string of assaults that have been largely carried out by the city's homeless population. The attacks, which the city’s firefighter’s union says began in May, have seen the protectors repeatedly targeted by the intemperate down-and-outs, often while responding to fires started at the city's growing number of homeless encampments. One such incident, which transpired last month, saw one fire official pelted with a rock while attempting to put out a blaze that originated from an encampment fire. The final destinations for the grain are not confirmed and discussions continue, David Beasley said. But the planned shipment, one of several the U.N. agency that fights hunger is pursuing, is more than six times the amount of grain that the first WFP-arranged ship from Ukraine is now carrying toward people in the Horn of Africa at risk of starvation.
