Mike Pence further hints toward a 2024

Mike Pence fueled the flames of a future run for president by appearing alongside Chuck Grassley at the Iowa State Fair this week and making a visit to the senator's home to 'talk issues.' The former vice president and Senator Grassley were pictured on Friday sheltering from heavy rain during the state's annual August fair in Des Moines, Iowa. On Saturday, Pence, 63, continued his swing through the state by joining the Bremer County GOP's second annual 'grill and chill' event to promote Republican candidates for the midterm elections.

Long before Biden stole the election I predicted that Pence would leave politics after the second Trump term ended. I foresaw a lucrative pension as a DC lobbyist. It appears I didn’t count on him being one of those whose morning gaze into a mirror revealed a future president. Mike Pence has zero charisma and is firmly rooted in a time before Democrats became full bore fascists. The country needs a visionary and a warrior. Pence is neither. I appreciate his loyal service to Trump and the country while Vice-President. He followed the Constitution on January 6 and in doing so ignited the enmity of the ignorant. Were there a national, elected position of dog catcher, Pence would loose in a landslide.

The wimpy Republicans would have to be nuts to nominate Pence for their presidential choice in 2024. Why, Trump supporters for the most part will not vote for Pence. While the aggressive leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats would no doubt support Pence throughout the wimpy Republican primaries to keep a much more conservative Republican off that presidential ticket, but after the wimpy Republican primaries if Pence is nominated, then along with their political propaganda arm the liberal media, the combined Democrat factions would kick Pence into the gutter before the general election. Anyone who can’t recognize that is either stupid or has not been paying attention!

I would not vote for Pence, but I will also not put him down. Just about every Vice President wants to be President. Then they run for President but don't make it. Hubert Humphrey, AlGore, are rwo examples. Pence will be the third. I fault Pence for not pushing back at DJT when DJT put Pence in charge of the Kung Flu problem, and then elbowed Pence aside. Pence should have told DJT to let him take care of it. DJT's anger at Pence for not holding up the vote on January 6 is a more complicated situation. Allow me to explain. The law DJT was relying on, on January 6, was the Counting Electoral Votes Act, (or some such name) which was passed in 1887 as a result of the 1876 Presidential election, between Hayes and Tilden. The 1887 law was complicated, and difficult to interpret and apply. The best course of action for President Trump would have been to file suit in federal court, immediately after the November election, forcing the U.S. Supreme Court to interpret that complicated act. AG Barr would have been the one to argue the case.

Former President Donald Trump is, from the sounds of it, frustrated by the inclusion of the Electoral Count Act in the $1.7 trillion omnibus that’s currently being discussed. As previously reported, the Electoral Count Act would make it significantly harder for both Congress and the vice president to reject the results of an election. On Tuesday the former president posted a stream of thoughts — all of them mostly negative — to Truth Social about the bill. He started by complaining about how the bill would set in stone that the vice president may not unilaterally choose to certify or not certify the results of an election.

Congress is trying to cram through a mammoth $1.7 trillion government funding bill ahead of a nor'easter that could otherwise leave lawmakers snowed-in in Washington, D.C. over Christmas.  The 4,500 page bill is full of classic priorities: $858 billion for defense, $45 billion for Ukraine, $38 billion for emergency disasters and billions more for other social programs - but also includes some odd riders.  It's loaded with thousands of earmarks - funding for the pet projects of individual lawmakers sometimes in exchange for their vote. Earmarks were banned until Democrats brought them back last year. Republicans followed suit in their own conference.

The House Select Committee on January 6 is ending. It’ll be gone by the next Congress—and good riddance. The committee was probably slated to be the Democrats’ 2022 attack vehicle funded by the taxpayer to paint Trump and the Republican Party as too extreme for America. It failed because a) no one cared anymore about that little riot, b) Americans knew hyperbole when they saw it, and c) the economy was collapsing. Most Americans don’t care or have the time to worry about the trivial matters that consume rich white liberals with dread. With the economy in recession, the Left tried everything to put this committee’s work front and center,

We often despair that neither party represents the interests of fiscal discipline these days, or even competent and accountable governance. It’s clearly too much to ask that we get to a balanced budget, since we haven’t even seen one attempted in nearly 30 years — and even that used budgetary gimmicks. Without a constitutional amendment, Congress will never budget properly within the limits of national revenue, and without an Article V convention, we won’t get an amendment that requires it. As for competent and accountable governance, that will likely require an Article V convention as well.

Add yet another government overreach to the “Things You Didn’t Think Could Happen in America” file: Democrats on the lame-duck House and Ways and Means Committee voted Tuesday to release six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Why? Because they um, uh—because they want to? But wait, you say to yourself, that’s not possible; your tax returns are private by federal law, and therefore protected from release. The Dems of course found a sleazy way around that. The tax code allows the committee to look at people’s tax returns to provide “oversight” of the Internal Revenue Service, and by writing an official report on their findings,

The Democrat-controlled House Ways and Means Committee voted on Tuesday evening to release Donald Trump's tax returns. It ends a nearly four year long fight between liberal lawmakers and the former president, who fought tooth-and-nail to shield his financial statements from public view.  Debate lasted for more than three hours behind closed doors before a final vote of 24 to 16. All Democrats voted in favor of the action while all Republicans on the panel voted against. It's not immediately clear when the documents will be released.

The problem for the Democrats, unfamiliar as they are with the Constitution and with American history, is that there is no reason for Trump not to run and win, even if he’s deep in the bowels of Leavenworth or some other federal penitentiary. The new academic report stemmed from research conducted by the University of Pittsburgh that was directly commissioned by the Marine Corps. The report claims the Marine Corps is behind other branches of the military when it comes to using gender identifiers. The report also states the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard have, for the most part, gotten rid of gender identifiers such as “Sir” and “Ma’am” but instead address drill instructors by their rank and last name.

We reported earlier on the monstrosity of the $1.7 trillion Omnibus Bill that the Democrats are trying to shove through Congress. It’s giving Joe Biden and the Democrats everything they want without holding them to anything, including things like securing the border. This spending, coming at a time when we’re already dealing with crushing inflation because of overspending, is madness. The bill just dropped and is more than 4000 pages long. [snip] claiming that money for Ukraine is part of the number one priority for the United States just infuriated people,
