Build the fence! Biden beach house barrier
cost swells to nearly $500K

This is one border barrier President Biden doesn’t seem to mind spending extra time and money on. The under-construction security fence around the commander-in-chief’s beach house, thought to be scheduled for completion late last year, actually won’t be done until the spring of 2023—while the cost to taxpayers has ballooned by nearly $35,000. The Department of Homeland Security initially doled out $456,548 in September 2021 to Delaware-based construction company Turnstone Holdings LLC for the purchase and installation of security fencing at Biden’s Rehoboth Beach home, according to USAspending.gov, an online database tracking federal outlays. The same site records that on Nov. 30, 2021, another $6,844

Comments:

Walls and fences don't work, they say, and yet they build and spend on some but not others. Walls topped with razor wire and with guard towers along the perimeter seem to work pretty well.

So Biden gets a beach barrier to protect him but the southern border remains wide open letting anbody who can walk right into the country. I'm sure they'll all all show up for their immigration hearings...right? Bulla Hagar, Kenya—The United States is stepping up to buy about 150,000 metric tons of grain from Ukraine in the next few weeks for an upcoming shipment of food aid from ports no longer blockaded by war, the World Food Program chief has told The Associated Press. The final destinations for the grain are not confirmed and discussions continue, David Beasley said. But the planned shipment, one of several the U.N. agency that fights hunger is pursuing, is more than six times the amount of grain that the first WFP-arranged ship from Ukraine is now carrying toward people in the Horn of Africa at risk of starvation.

According to an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Black student enrollment in American colleges and universities has declined dramatically in the past ten years, 24 percent in fact, from 2.5 million students in 2010 to 1.9 million in 2020. Prior to that ten-year period, argues Chronicle reporter Oyin Adedoyin, “The story of Black college students in the USA was a narrative of success.” Judging only by numbers, Adedoyin is right. Black population on campus grew nine-fold from 1966 to 2010. The decline since 2010 puzzles administrators given the thousands of DEI officers they have hired and the myriad enticements they have offered to Black students.
