A new retail and e-commerce report finds inflation is affecting the shopping habits of 85% of Americans, leading most to reduce their purchases and feel unhappier buying online. In the report published Thursday, Morning Consult found that 77% of Americans are shopping less to save money. Only 41% said they enjoyed online shopping in June, down from 50% in March. The report warns against blaming supply-chain issues for the trend. It notes that Americans, especially the millennials who make up most online shoppers, have less money to spend as consumer prices rise.(Snip)Many shoppers also are coping with inflation by looking for discounts and shopping at discount stores,

The woke retailers would rather have low sales and have Joe in office, than have high sales under Trump, the terrible orange man.

Our governor in AZ passed a shakedown taxing online purchases. The ghoulish press wrote a story to the effect of "State coffers filling up with money from internet purchases." It's goody, goody goody good.

I work in a major department store in beauty.
It’s been difficult trying to sell skin care and makeup.
Food and utilities are more important.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the holidays will fare.
I know we will slash prices to make sales.

Inflation is the quite intentional side effect of GreenEnergy policies. Which in turn are the main weapon of global control. Bottom line :They’ don’t care! Unless we drag them from power, nothing will change.

Yes, I am fighting price inflation by declining to pay the higher prices. Rising prices always lowers the number of customers. Our $1 store had already raised to $1.39 before this, then raised to $1.79. I have stopped going. There is nothing there worth that price. At the grocery store, I don't even walk into the non-food section any longer. I don't ever eat at a restaurant. I don't want to deal with masks, cellphones next table, or a friend that is obsessed that they might miss an email or a phone call. Yes, I do mind if you take that call. I was here first, waited my turn, and am not finished with you. The food is mediocre, and priced far beyond the quality. The help, never outstanding, has gotten worse, or gone missing. I was forced to go through a drive through by my sister. I was not delighted sitting in a car line for 30 minutes, in order to eat my food in a car.

Thanks to Biden's so called great economy.

The article states:
"The trade association noted that retail sales numbers rose 7.3% in July from the same month last year, “further illustrating that consumers continue to spend where they need to” as they confront “the highest levels of inflation in four decades.”
and it also states:
"Food prices jumped 10.9% in July over the same month last year, the fastest annual increase Americans have seen in the cost of groceries since May 1979. Prices for shelter, medical care, new vehicles and car insurance also rose."
So.... if 'retail sales numbers' (the number of dollars spent?...including food?) increased 7.3% and at the same time food prices increased 10.9%, then food is taking a bigger chunk of people's spending, and the dollar amount spent on other retail is declining. Add to this the higher price for all items, and it seems to me that the amount of actual retail goods (the number of shirts, shoes, toys, household items) sold is declining.
Remember the Bolsheviks basic method for eliminating the middle class:
"Grind them between the millstones of Taxes and Inflation."
.... and that's Just what the Democrats, with their recent huge 'tax-increasing and spending' bill- are doing.

I don't enjoy shopping online even when I'm shopping online. Good grief! I've heard so many people say how they were prospering under President Trump. What brandon is doing to the economy is 100% intentional. May the grief he's put on us fall on his own head.

I won't buy from Amazon. I just refuse. Bezos hates everything I love, and I will NOT enrich him for convenience.

I don’t think online buying is suffering anymore than regular box store retail sales. For instance, when my local HEB quickly took out all My Pillow products, and management stayed firm about it, I found Azure and other online grocery places. I still have to shop there but thankfully not nearly as much. I get my bulk non-perishables at pretty good prices from Azure and never set foot on Amazon.

The younger generation has not suffered through a true recession and inflation in their lives. They are learning how their money doesn't stretch as far as it used to a short time ago. Their parents can't help as much as they used to either. They are realizing their low end jobs don't cover their expenses anymore or mid level jobs that got bonuses or pay raises are wiped out by gas and food. Wait until they have to pay more taxes.

When Americans start rummaging through dumpsters for discarded food and clothing, maybe then the Ultra 0.1% will be happy with their vast wealth. After all, what good is all that money when others aren't actively suffering?
