A federal grand jury indictment alleges that a Coon Rapids man made violent threats against a U.S. senator. Brendon Michael Daugherty, 35, appeared Friday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis on charges of threatening to murder a United States official and interstate transmission of a threat. Public court records do not identify the target of Daugherty's alleged threats other than to say the senator is not from Minnesota.(Snip)In his first message, Daugherty said, "You and the Republican Party should be proud that you're pushing me to become a domestic terrorist. Have a nice [expletive] day. Can't wait to kill ya."(Snip)On September 2, FBI agents with

The US housing market is in the midst of a “deep recession” that could put pressure on the Federal Reserve to ease up on interest rate hikes, a prominent economist warned on Monday. Home builder confidence declined for the ninth straight month in September as surging mortgage rates and steep prices priced many buyers out of the market, according to the National Association of Home Builders. Builder confidence fell to its lowest level since 2014 when excluding the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the index showed.
The prolonged downturn in confidence shows the housing market has been “in a tailspin for the whole of this year,”

Justin Trudeau has faced intense backlash after a clip emerged of him singing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody after a dinner just two days before Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral. The Prime Minister of Canada was filmed singing Freddie Mercury's iconic song during an impromptu session at Corinthia Hotel, London, during the official period of mourning just days before Her Majesty's state funeral.
Canada's premier, 50, arrived in England following the Queen Elizabeth's death to join world leaders at her monumental funeral on Monday morning. Wearing a casual maroon t-shirt, Trudeau was seen standing over a piano during an ad lib singalong with other members of his formal delegation in the lobby

A Singapore food hall in Manhattan is offering more than just delicious fare. Moved by images of migrants being bused into the city, the chefs and owners of the stalls at the soon-to-open Urban Hawker are also offering jobs. Singaporean celebrity chef KF Seetoh, who brought over 11 established chefs to operate at the food hall which will open at the end of September, posted on Instagram Sunday that the Singapore hawkers “are happy to hire them if they are keen and allowed.”(Snip)A recent influx of Latin American migrants have flooded the city, sent over by Texas Gov. Wegmans, the well-known supermarket chain, has decided to put an end to its self-checkout app Wegmans SCAN. The grocery chain discontinued the app on Sunday, Sept. 18. Customers were able to scan, bag and pay for groceries through the app to skip checkout lines altogether. “Unfortunately, the losses we are experiencing prevent us from continuing to make it available in its current state,” the company wrote in a statement. “We’ve made the decision to turn off the app until we can make improvements that will meet the needs of our customers and business.” The app was introduced in 2019. Wegmans currently operates nine locations throughout New Jersey and

President Joe Biden will host the Atlanta Braves at the White House on Sept. 26 to celebrate the team’s 2021 World Series victory.
The White House said Sunday the president will welcome the Major League Baseball team to the East Room hours before the Braves open a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. Biden has hosted several championship teams at the White House since taking office last year, with cheerful apolitical celebrations that have departed from the style of his predecessor, who turned the ceremonies into cultural flashpoints.(Snip)The Braves, of course, are no stranger to political attention. Bill Clinton, 76, said that Republicans are only able to 'close' in midterm elections because 'they scare people' into thinking they need to vote in right-leaning politicians. The former Democratic president said that his party could hold onto the House and Senate in November's election if they 'say the right things'–suggesting that Republicans are better at embellishing to make their cause seem more dire.(Snip)'But we have to say the right things – and we have to know that the Republicans always close well. Why? Because they find some new way to scare the living daylights out of swing voters about something,' he continued.

On Friday’s broadcast of ABC’s “GMA3,” Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA) argued that cities in the northeast like Martha’s Vineyard “have done their part” to deal with the border crisis. Co-host Whit Johnson asked, “Of course, you’ve heard the criticism from Gov. DeSantis and others who say that the Biden administration isn’t doing enough to deal with the border crisis, and that other cities in the northeast like Martha’s Vineyard and elsewhere need to step up and do their part. What’s your response to that?” Keating responded, “Well, they certainly have done their part. But the issue is this, we have a broken immigration system. I was just in D.C.

Jean Michel thought his neighbourhood in the north of Port-au-Prince, far from the capital’s infamous slums, would shield his family from the violence engulfing the Haitian capital. But in May young men started coming into town on motorcycles, armed with assault rifles. By June, they were seizing control of the area. And in July the bandits had become the de facto authority, snatching up children to join their ranks and raping any women who took their fancy. “They take what they want now,” said the construction worker, who fled his home with his wife and two boys once the gangs took over. “They have no fear and

American military leaders may have violated federal law in apparent rapid-fire denials of religious exemptions to the Defense Department’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate, a national religious civil liberties law firm said late Friday. Memos obtained by Liberty Counsel written by acting DOD Inspector General Sean O’Donnell said the official warned Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin of “deliberate violation[s] of federal law” within the agency over the way denial requests were processed and turndowns were issued, the group said.(Snip)Assuming a 10-hour work day with no breaks or attention to other matters, the average review period was about 12 minutes for each package. A judge in Missouri is allowing a settlement involving several unhappy 'Rita' drinkers and Anheuser-Busch, the company behind Budweiser, to go forward. The disgruntled customers say that the were deceived into buying the company's margarita themed drinks by believing that they contained tequila. The drinks manufacturer opted to settle with the customers. That means anyone can apply to be compensated for the deception without proof of purchase. The funds range from from $9.75 to $21.75 per household. All you have to do is fill out this form. They also said that they were led to 'falsely believe that the Margarita Products contained tequila and the Wine Products contained wine.'

The percentage of Americans who are refusing to get a vaccine for the Chinese coronavirus is remaining consistent, as nearly three in ten have yet to receive a single jab for the virus, a poll from The Economist/YouGov found. The survey found that 28 percent have not received any coronavirus jab from any manufacturer, compared to 72 percent who said they have. What is more, 58 percent indicated that they are at least triple vaccinated. However, it appears that those who are unvaccinated will remain so, as 66 percent said they do to plan on getting any shots, followed by 16 percent who said they “might” and nine percent
