Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell became the latest Republican Thursday to criticize President Biden for labeling high prices at the pump as part of an “incredible transition” toward clean, renewable energy. “That’s a heck of a way to describe his administration’s war on the most affordable, reliable and abundant forms of energy in our country,” the Kentucky lawmaker said on the floor. Demand is expected to spike in the coming days with travelers hitting the roads for the Memorial Day weekend. The national average held steady Thursday at an all-time high of $4.60 per gallon—47 cents more than a month ago, and $1.56 higher than one year ago

COVID-19 is waning, but shopping for a Louis Vuitton bag, a Chanel suit or a pair of Gucci loafers increasingly means standing in line outside a boutique—and luxury brands have been conspicuously tight-lipped on why. Most elite labels leaned into “appointment shopping” during the height of the pandemic, citing the need for social distancing. But as the threat from the virus recedes, some including Cartier and Harry Winston continue to impose the new policy.
They also have failed to convince shoppers and experts alike of their reasoning—if they bother to explain themselves at all. Major brands including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Cartier didn’t respond

With the jury out in the trial of former 2016 Clinton campaign counsel Michael Sussmann, the usual odds-takers appeared on cable news, rating the chances of a conviction. Despite the seemingly overwhelming evidence against Sussmann, the jury’s makeup seems strikingly favorable for the defense. One verdict, however, appears to need little deliberation. It concerns the Department of Justice, and particularly the FBI. The trial confirmed what many have long alleged about how top officials eagerly accepted any Russia collusion claim involving former President Trump’s 2016 campaign.

A scientific analysis commissioned by the FBI shortly before agents went digging for buried treasure suggested that a huge quantity of gold could be below the surface, according to newly released government documents and photos that deepen the mystery of the 2018 excavation in remote western Pennsylvania. The report, by a geophysicist who performed microgravity testing at the site, hinted at an underground object with a mass of up to 9 tons and a density consistent with gold. The FBI used the consultant's work to obtain a warrant to seize the gold—if there was any to be found. The government has long claimed its dig was a bust.

Baseball is a complicated game. The rulebook for Major League Baseball is 191 pages long. The intricacies of the game’s strategies are seemingly endless, and as a team manager at the top level of the sport, the opportunities for missteps present themselves constantly. Should we attempt a bunt in this situation? Do I need to bring another pitcher in to face this next batter? Does it make sense to attempt a hit-and-run play on this pitch?
It’s not easy being a major league manager. But there are certain aspects of our national pastime that are simple, including rules that most of us learn as children playing in Little League.

On Saturday morning Steve Bannon held a discussion on the situation with China and Taiwan and China’s efforts to rule the world. Frank Gaffney was one of the War Room’s guests to warn about China’s recent actions. Earlier this week Gaffney warned about how the US under Biden is taking actions to support China while at the same time China is at war with the US.Gaffney in his Secure Freedom Minute discussed how China was being bolstered by the Biden regime:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced that an anonymous donor has provided $175,000 for the funeral expenses of the nineteen children and two teachers murdered at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday.“We appreciate that anonymous donor for his generosity and we will ensure that those resources get into the right hands to make sure that no family who is suffering from incalculable heartbreak at this time will have to worry about a single cost,” Abbot said at a press conference Friday. The governor went on to highlight that the state is offering mental health services via “state and private providers …

Every mass school shooting strikes terror in parents’ hearts and grief in the communities in which they occur. You might from press coverage have the idea that they are a regular occurrence, but, in fact, they remain rare -- 13 mass school shootings since 1966.
Still, like all seemingly incomprehensible tragedies it causes a search for meaning. After all, people my age went to schools where there were rifle clubs. Kids in those clubs regularly brought their weapons to school, and yet there weren’t any school shootings. (I expect in some rural areas of the country this may still be the case.)

Gov. Ron DeSantis should be all smiles this year. Florida successfully passed the Parental Rights in Education Bill, despite Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s best efforts to sabotage it, and the state has ushered through several other key initiatives. His wife Casey has successfully battled breast cancer, and he’s emerging as one of the big names in the 2024 presidential race. (Say “President DeSantis” out loud. See how it just rolls off the tongue?)
On top of everything else, an appeals court judge has upheld DeSantis’ redistricting maps against an effort to strike to it down and replace them with one drawn by a Harvard professor.

Prompted by the leaked draft of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization majority opinion, first-year Yale Law School student Shyamala Ramakrishna posted to Instagram that "the members of [Yale Law School's conservative Federalist Society] are conspirators in the Christo-fascist political takeover we all seem to be posting frantically about on Instagram dot com." She continued, "So why are they still coming to our parties/laughing in the library/roaming these weirdly high school-esque halls with precious few social consequences and without unrelenting daily confrontation?"This comes across as more of a real threat after an event at Yale earlier this semester. In March, Yale Law School students disrupted a bipartisan panel

On Saturday, Joe Biden spoke at his alma mater, the University of Delaware, for their 2022 graduation ceremony. The day before, he spoke at the U.S. Naval Academy and told some despicable lies. He claimed he had received an appointment to the Academy in 1965, when in fact he was graduating from the University of Delaware in 1965, so that couldn’t possibly be true. He also claimed that he didn’t go to the Academy but chose to go to Delaware instead because the Academy had “Staubach and Bellino” there.“I didn’t come to the Academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named Staubach

It’s spreading. Three more Catholic Bishops barred House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion due to her support of abortion. This means Pelosi is banned from Communion in at least four diocese. It all started when San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone last Friday announced House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will no longer be admitted to Holy Communion due to her support of abortion.“Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion,” the Catechism of the Catholic Church says.

A man in the Upper East Side wearing an all-black outfit and mask was caught on surveillance camera hacking a pedestrian he didn't know with a knife in broad daylight. The NYPD said the stabbing took place at about 1:50p.m. on Thursday at the corner of Third Avenue and East 63rd Street, just a couple of feet away from the entrance of the subway station on Lexington Avenue and 63rd. The suspect reportedly approached the victim from behind after hopping off his electronic bike and crossing the street, according to law enforcement officials. The NYPD only released video footage of the attack on May 28, two days after it took place.

Is Joe Biden crazy like a fox, or just crazy?
That’s the question careening around the world after the president said last week that the United States would respond militarily if China invades Taiwan. The shocking remark in Tokyo came just two months after Biden, on a visit to Poland, insisted Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power” because of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. Both bombshells sent the White House into DEFCON damage control as aides rushed out “clarifications” to insist there was no change in longstanding policies. They said the United States is still only committed to selling Taiwan military equipment to defend itself and claimed Biden was

After 21 people – including 19 children – were killed at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Thursday, San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler said he would not be coming out for the national anthem until he felt better about the “direction of the country.”
On Saturday, White Sox manager Tony La Russa said that voicing objections at a time for honoring the flag and anthem was “not appropriate.”
“I think he’s exactly right to be concerned … with what’s happening in our country. He’s right there,” Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa said of Kapler, according to ESPN.

It’s hard to know which senator from Massachusetts is worse, Elizabeth Warren or Ed Markey, who recently called the Supreme Court illegitimate and called for packing the court.
Markey also said the recent seats that went to conservative justices were stolen.
Isn’t this the sort of thing Democrats and the media have called conspiracy theories?
Mediaite reported:
Senate Democrat Rails Against ‘Illegitimate, Far-Right’ Supreme Court, Calls for Taking Back ‘Stolen’ Seats
Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) suggested expanding the Supreme Court in a Thursday speech, claiming the court is currently “illegitimate” and “far-right” and could pose a threat to any potential gun control legislation passed by Congress.

Polk County Florida Sheriff Grady Judd has condemned the inaction of law enforcement in Uvalde, Texas, and said that unlike there — potential school shooters will be shot in his county on sight.
Sheriff Judd said that the hour the shooter was allowed to continue his massacre inside the school was “unacceptable” and that it left him “mortified” and “heartbroken.”
“When you take your children to school healthy and well in the morning, you have every right and expectation to receive them back in the afternoon in the same healthy state,” the sheriff told Spectrum News.

The leftist media is tripping all over themselves in a frantic effort to weaponize the slaughter of 19 young children and their teachers at a Texas elementary school to score political points by churning out propaganda to demonize Republicans for the actions of the deranged monster who took their lives.
But The Washington Post may have shot itself in the foot with what it promoted as a major scoop.
The intrepid muckrakers at WaPo breathlessly broke the story that the owners of Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the rifle that was used by 18-year-old shooter Salvador Ramos during his killing spree, have donated money to the GOP, not exactly a stunning bombshell

We’re all still wondering why police in Uvalde, Texas didn’t storm the classroom and kill the gunman given that active-shooter training indicates that’s what should happen. Also this week there’s a video circulating on Twitter which has me wondering almost the same thing. Why did no one act?
A viral video on social media shows a woman being assaulted on a New York City subway train as bystanders keep a safe distance away from the scene.
The video shows an individual acting out on the subway. As other passengers move away, the individual pulls one passenger down onto a seat by her hair.
The passenger can be seen mouthing, “Somebody help me,”

Things have been pretty bleak and heartbreaking of late, so here’s some good news.
“Top Gun: Maverick” has been lighting up movie screens and — based on my own personal social media observations — is routinely inspiring clapping and cheering from American audiences. And that’s not even the best part. The second installment of the 1986 Tom Crusie classic is achieving its success without the help of a formerly very vocal Chinese investor, internet and tech giant Tencent. Remember the flight jacket, scrubbed in the 2019 trailer of certain flags to appease Chinese censors? My how things have changed.
To the joy of Taiwanese audiences hitting the theaters this week, Top Gun: Maverick features
