Formula Zero

Before I had kids, I thought that breastfeeding was the most natural thing in the world and that it was something that mothers just instantly knew how to do perfectly once the baby was born. (Snip) My kids are older now but I have been thrown back into thinking about feeding hungry infants and toddlers because of the acute baby formula shortage that is hitting North America right now, and nobody in any position of leadership in America or Canada is actually talking about this horrifying situation. The only people I see talking about it are mothers frantically searching pharmacies and online delivery services hours from their homes,

Comments:

Meanwhile, instead of government health services telling mothers how to make short-term emergency formula for their infants, or encouraging the use of breast milk banks, the B. administration is issuing warnings not to use homemade formula, as if before there were formula factories mothers in America who couldn't nurse let their babies starve to death. I do believe Bill Gates' wish that there were only half a billion people on earth is being fulfilled, one crisis at a time.

The only silver lining in yhis crisis is that young people and suburban moms who normally vote Democrat may learn that Big Daddy government cannot he trusted. If things get worse, the point will be driven home in a way that the lesson will last their whole life.

So if no baby formula is not available (Plan A), and breastfeeding is something that North American women can't do (Plan B), and making your own formula from online recipes might cause "convulsions" (as reported by a doctor on our local news) (Plan C), are mothers supposed to just let the babies starve? (Would that be a "post-birth abortion"?) Why aren't our health pundits coming up some Plan D options, like some at-home formulas that don't cause "convulsions" or how to use cow's milk, goat's milk, any of those plant-based milks? Seems like a good time to be a wet nurse (Plan E?) My mother fed formula to us as newborns, then she used warmed-up, un-modified whole cow's milk. Amazingly, we all three have survived to old age.

OK so, we find, 1) The bacteria was "detected" in the plant, but not in the formula. 2) There was nothing to definitively connect the formula to the infant deaths. And yet.....they shut down the plant. These days with ultra, ultra, mind bogglingly sensitive testing available, "detected" can mean literally one single damned bacterium drifted in on the wind and was detected. If it's not in the formula, its not in the formula, and stop shutting the factory down, you bureaucratic, brainless fools. You've shown it's NOT in the formula.

Until this "crisis" I didn't realize how out of favor cow's milk had become. The milk that all my friends and I were exclusively fed as infants in the 1950's is now considered poison to children. Sure, breast milk is usually better than cow's milk but I'm being told to believe some chemical powder concoction is better than either?! It seems to me like this is an extension of the 1970's South American Nestle baby formula scandal that convinced poverty stricken mothers to eschew breast milk in favor of an expensive powder. I believe that as long as there is not a shortage of cow's milk then there is no shortage of milk for babies.

For the record, I managed to nurse all five of my kids. I also supplemented with formula. My mother and MIL thought I was nuts for wanting to nurse. It certainly is wrong to 'condemn' any mom who can't or doesn't want to nurse. Our first child was born in 1969 and there were exactly FOUR moms who were nursing and they put us all in the same room (no kidding). In 1973, our third child was born and I had a friend who worked in the nursery and she told me that now 90% of new moms nursed. So in four short years it had changed that much. The reason Dr.'s don't want babies on regular milk until they are 12 months old is because they think that drinking milk earlier might cause allergies later in life, at least that's what I was told years ago. If I had a baby now, I would use the formula my mom used for me and my siblings and that was the condensed milk, light karo syrup and sterilized water recipe. plus liquid infant vitamins. It couldn't hurt for the short term until things get back to normal.

Team Biden Quietly Admits Math Error Behind
Long Delays in Oil, Gas Permits

The Biden administration privately acknowledged late last month that a mathematical error is delaying the federal government’s offshore oil and gas program. In an April 29 letter to industry leaders obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, the head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that a subagency “discovered a miscalculation” that has caused a massive backlog in permitting. Richard Spinrad acknowledged in his letter that the National Marine Fisheries Service—the subagency tasked with analyzing the impact of offshore drilling projects on wildlife—has used faulty computer modeling on such impacts. As a result, Spinrad wrote, the subagency overestimated wildlife effects, delaying permitting on existing leases.

Do you know what it’s technically called when “government takes control of the means of production?” Yeah, that. This afternoon Joe Biden invoked the Defense Production Act giving Health and Human Services the legal authority to control the supplies needed for the creation of baby formula (how it is made), and the authority to determine distribution equity (who gets it). White House – “[T]he authority of the President conferred by section 101 of the Act to require performance of contracts or orders … is delegated to the Secretary of Health and Human Services with respect to all health resources, including the ingredients necessary to manufacture infant formula.”

By now, it's a commonplace to observe that, in accordance with Conquest's Third Law of Politics, our country is ruled by a cabal of her enemies. The brief Trump interregnum between 24 years of Clinton/Bush/Obama—in retrospect, nearly indistinguishable in the havoc each wreaked on the United States—and now the first term of Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., is barely a blip on the radar screen of Progressivism. As Mark Antony observes during Caesar's funeral oration: “The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones.” Welcome to the boneyard of America.

Should the projections of a Republican tsunami at the midterms prove true, there are so many things that a Republican Congress must prioritize. Not the least of which is revising the civil-service laws to permit removing incompetent and corrupt bureaucrats, cutting drastically the federal bureaucracy and reforming, among other agencies, the CDC, NIH, FBI, and the IRS. I’m focusing now on the IRS, which first hit my radar screen when with no consequences whatsoever. Commenter KK’s impassioned defense of Russia against the (to him) “blind hatred” of Poles got me thinking. I’ve been doing some reading lately regarding the path to perpetual war in Europe—after all, the current conflict in Ukraine can arguably be seen as simply the continuation of a civilizational crisis in the West that first took military form in the Napoleonic wars. Certainly the inevitable centrality of Russia to Western Europe’s future can be dated at least that far back. What is different about this dynamic since WW2 is the overwhelming presence of the United States in the equation. Just a short while ago I came across this interesting thread.

Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade is, to quote a certain sitting U.S. president, a “big f****** deal.” It’s not just that the decision is a huge victory for conservatives that cleanses us of one of America’s gravest moral taints. Justice Alito’s decision matters because of the potential it unlocks. If Alito’s opinion is issued unchanged, it will represent the full reversal of one of the foundational decisions of the Warren and Burger Courts of the 60s and 70s. It is no exaggeration to say that the Supreme Court of those two decades created the modern left-wing hegemony we are currently groaning under.

Early treatment (outpatient) was the right way to handle this pandemic and the WHO did absolutely nothing in that area. Only a completely inept agency wouldn’t have had that as one of the pillars of a pandemic response. Much has been written this week about the pro-abortionists’ plans to picket the homes of the six Republican-appointed justices over the egregiously leaked Alito draft overturning Roe v. Wade. Those criticisms, which I summarize below, are certainly valid. If we had an attorney general who cared about enforcing the law, he’d seek injunctive relief and criminal penalties for such conduct. If AG Merrick Garland fails to do so, the attorney general of Virginia, Jason S. Miyares, may step in to preclude any such protests in his state. But I think the rowdies got their ideas from Chief Justice Roberts’s strange role in the ObamaCare case mandate challenge

The inconvenient truth is that even at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a very simple, inexpensive and effective treatment was available that could have saved the majority of lives lost (1-3). All that the WHO and public health bureaucracy had to do was to recommend and support people taking sufficient Vitamin D3. This failure to act traces back to the unscientific bias and pro-vaccine obsession of Dr. Anthony Fauci. And once again the legacy media, while being paid by the US government and the pharmaceutical industry to promote vaccination, acted by censoring, defaming and suppressing the ability of physicians to inform people of scientific truth.
