House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has been barred from receiving Holy Communion in the Archdiocese of San Francisco because of her increasingly "extreme" position on abortion, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone announced Friday.
In a "letter to the faithful," the archbishop wrote that after repeated attempts to speak with Pelosi and persuade her to adhere to the Catholic Church's teaching that life begins at conception and abortion is a sin, he has determined to place her under public church discipline.

Sadly, I'm afraid the affirmative action Cardinal Archbishop of Washington (D.C.) will not do the same thing.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. She'll still be Speaker Pelosi.

For the code of Bishops they are not to override a ruling of another. A bishop before could say he never got the notice from another Diocese, but in the age of telephone and yellow journalism they can't deny it. The DC Bishop will have to be the one to formally tell Nancy when she comes through the door. Smart move from the S.F. Bishop.

She is a representative in the House via being elected in her district - San Francisco. It will be interesting to see how this works out. She is near her expiration date here on earth. Her status in the Church may matter to her. Or not.

That’s great, Archbishop, but you lost me at, “Her advocacy for the care of the poor and vulnerable elicits my admiration.” There is no one more poor or vulnerable than an unborn baby. She has no love for the poor or vulnerable, she loves whatever keeps her elected, rich, and powerful. You, sir, are a day late and a dollar short. I say that as a cradle Catholic.

Nasty Nancy sold her soul to Satan decades ago. Church has never been anything but a "photo op" for her.
Listen to her play the "victim" in 3-2-1...

Where did this come from? She's only been at this façade for about 100 years. Plus, you think she's the only one? This whole thing is weird and random and gives me no satisfaction.

Nancy Pelosi has been ex-communicated at least temporarily in her home diocese. Yes, that's ex-communicated. Communicants receive the Blessed Sacrament. Those who once received Holy Communion, but are now barred, are considered EX-communicants. Finally a bishop with a pair of nads!

She escalated her rhetoric in the last few years, and her pursuit of codifying Roe v. Wade's outcome into national legislation since the SCOTUS opinion draft leak has ranged from vigorous to obstinate. Abp. Salvatore tried several times to contact her recently to discuss the matter, and each time was either ignored or rebuffed.
This is not a penal matter -- her own words and actions have made it abundantly clear that her relationship with the Catholic Church is adversarial, so she is not to identify herself as Catholic any more and should not present herself for Communion. Our parish received his announcements about 2 hours ago.
She's been practically daring the Church to do this for years. So I reckon this falls into the 'bout damn time category.

I’m sure pelosi believes that Christ is a trans man who had once been pregnant and suffered from monthly cramps. So all is good in her little world.

He did her a favor. Her soul is in jeopardy. I pray she will be smart enough to repent. God is not impressed with wealth, power, or top shelf ice cream.

Pelosi Galore traded her soul for political power. Hellbound, she's going down, way down, way down upon the Swanee River, and the priest doesn't want to go down with her. Can't blame him.

No big deal. She is an atheist and this won’t bother her but there is another judgement coming that she won’t be able to get rid of.

So when will our other "strict Catholic", Sloppy Joe Biden, get his letter of rejection?
I'm waiting for the Pope to weigh in on this and override the Archbishop because "politics".

FTA: "Speaker Pelosi remains our sister in Christ. Her advocacy for the care of the poor and vulnerable elicits my admiration". Christ told each of us to help the poor, He did not say we could outsource it to our government. When you are using other people's money, it is not charity.
