San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is barred from receiving Holy Communion due to her pro-abortion stance -- marking an escalation in a decades-long tension between the Roman Catholic Church and liberal Democratic politicians on abortion. Cordileone has written to the California Democrat, informing her that she should not present herself for Holy Communion at Mass, and that priests will not distribute communion to her if she does present herself.

She has been "out of bounds" for decades. But now they finally blow the whistle on her.
I hope she shows up to take communion and gets denied--that would be priceless to see.

Hopefully, other bishops in states with Dem pro-abortion politicians will follow suit.
Waiting for Pope Francis to weigh in on this. He looked the other way with Biden, and said nothing to her when she showed up in Rome for the photo op with him.

I would feel very sorry for any eucharistic minister , low person on the totem pole, if she comes up to him for the host. He or she would have to have nerves of steel to refer her to go to the priest.

Don't worry, Nancy. You can always take Communion at your local ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) congregation. They'll have no qualms about you doing so.

This Bishop is in California.
What will be the test for this is if she goes to Communion in DC where the Cardinal has charge of the Washington Diocese refuses her.
I would bet a few bucks he will not make such a ruling.
Does she ever go to Mass anyway, I have never read of where she attends Mass in DC.

Speaking as a practicing Catholic...I say...it's about time...it's an affront when I bow my head and take communion to know nervous Nancy smirks and moves forward in unison with other Catholics that honor life...and abhor the killing of a child...perhaps these "so called mothers" should consider birth control before they have to choose terminating a precious baby...no one is suggesting you don't control your body...control it....by...not getting pregnant in the first place...

I wonder now that the Catholic support for illegals (Catholic) to fill their churches is now working ,whether this new congregation, , staunchly Catholic, is asking why no outcry about abortion. Did he finally do something he wouldn't normally do to appease his new parishioners?

As a divorced and remarried Catholic, I obeyed Church law, and did not take Holy Communion. Pelosi should have done the same.
Pope Marxist I said something stupid about Holy Communion. He said no one is perfect. That is wrong.
After confession and absolution, a parishioner is free from sin, perfect, and in a state of grace, where it is appropriate to take the Lord's
Body and Blood in the form of Communion. Pelosi cannot attain the required state of grace, by being a legislative shill for abortion.
And, #3, Holy Communion is a sacrament. A funeral is not. So Dead Ted's funeral was OK under Church law.

Bishop Robert Vasa of Santa Rosa, who also presides over the Napa Valley, has also agreed with Archbishop Cordileone. Bishop Vasa said he spoke with the pastor of the St Helena church, where Pelosi attends Mass on occasion, and told him she is not allowed to receive communion.
I am wondering if Pelosi is going to present herself for communion just to be confrontational. This could get very ugly

There once was a widowed former First Lady who was banned from receiving the Holy Eucharist because she married a divorced man. We now have a widowed President who married a divorced woman. Does he continue to receive the Sacraments at Holy Trinity in Georgetown? I'm seriously confused, not being political. Just wonder how the rule works? I have had friends banned from Communion for marrying divorced people.

I am a Catholic and just disgusted with my church------only a very few priests and/or bishops have dared to point out that the Emperor of the Congress has no clothes in regard to her faith. Even MORE so our President!!!!!!!!!!! And yet, for whatever reason, these people are allowed the sacraments and, even better, can use the Imprimatur of the Church to game the Catholic vote.

This was not due to abortion support, as the headline says. It was due to obstinate abortion PROMOTION, combined with her repeated refusals to speak with her bishop.
As for excommunication (#28), she may have obviated any need for that. The letter to her states that her words and deeds have, in an obvious manner, moved her so far away from the Church that she is not to present herself as Catholic or for Holy Communion. If she is no longer Catholic, then she has effectively excommunicated herself. (She crossed the proverbial line out of the gray area when she shifted from defending abortion rights to promoting their legislative codification.)

There are plenty of other "Catholics" on the Left that deserve the same. This should have been done decades ago. Since it's taken this long, and Pelosi's age, I doubt she'll be excommunicated in this lifetime. But she will have to explain herself to the almighty, and talking points don't hold sway with him.

Last week, at the end of Mass, Father Marian, who is from Poland, delivered an impassioned statement on the sanctity of life and the evil of abortion. I had never heard a priest offer such strong and righteous comments before. Father Marian’s eloquent words were pure fire and brimstone, very moving, indeed.
Reading about Archbishop Cordileone’s comments regarding Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s continued support of abortion were outstanding. Bravo, Archbishop Cordileone! I only wish that Cardinal Dolan in New York City would display the same kind of Roman Catholic “couliones,” that Father Marian and Archbishop Cordileone have displayed.
In addition to some priest telling off the loathsome Joe Biden and his haughty wife, “Dr.” Jill, I’d like some Garden State priest to inform the equally-repellent NJ Gov., “Smilling” Phil Murphy and his oh-so-annoying wife, Tammy, to take a hike when it comes to receiving Holy Communion. And, the same goes for New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a//k/a “Hokum,” another Roman Catholic “disgratia”!

God's law vs Man's law. Choose wisely. The bible was very clear. Inheriting the earth is not worth your soul. Anyone who harms children will answer to God. God has spoken, you can listen to Him or you can ignore him.
One more thing. Our Lady made it clear that some of our clergy will lead the faithful to the path of Hell. Shopping around for a priest to tell you what you want to hear is a mistake.

In the Catholic Church the sin follows the sinner, and the Archbishops ruling does also. Effectively she is barred from Communion in any Catholic Church. Going against this could bring stations against the priest who does not follow the edict.
Archbishop Gregory is between the rock and the hard place - doe she honor his life-long vow to the Church or his commitment to Pelosi and her fellow "devoted" Catholic Democrats? Will Joe be next?
