What If There Is No Majority To Overturn

The immediate and most obvious speculation (including by me) was that the leak was by a liberal/leftist, likely a law clerk, trying to create a firestorm of protest that would pressure one of those five Justices to wobble, much like Chief Justice John Roberts reportedly switched his vote on Obamacare in 2012.(Snip)So an activist could leak using a false narrative that Alito represents the majority, can generate the protests and the energy in the base, can create an issue for the midterms, and at the end of the day, Roe survives, which can be spun as a victory for the protesters, proving the mob was able to intimidate the Justices.

Left-wing activist groups are planning to send protesters to the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices following a leak indicating the court may soon overturn Roe v. Wade. The activists are organizing under the moniker "Ruth Sent Us" and have published the supposed home addresses of Justices Amy Coney Barrett, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch. "Our 6-3 extremist Supreme Court routinely issues rulings that hurt women, racial minorities, LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights," the group's website reads. "We must rise up to force accountability using a diversity of tactics." Fox News is told there has

Like the Energizer Bunny, Sen. Liz Warren doesn't stop hopping. She made a hot pink spectacle of herself on Tuesday ranting, pacing, and jabbing her finger wildly in the wake of leaked deliberations from the Supreme Court suggesting that the Court would to overturn Roe v. Wade Monday, forcing the abortion matter back to the states. I wrote about that yesterday here. (Snip for tweet) Issues & Insights observes: Watch the video with the audio muted. Does her body language, the spasmodic gesturing, the pointed finger remind anyone of a 20th century figure whose speeches we’re used to seeing in black-and-white newsreels? Heaven help us.

One of the character flaws that tend to afflict many Hollywood celebrities is an utter lack of self-awareness, and Joy Behar of ABC’s The View gave us a perfect example on Tuesday. Reacting to the leaked document from the Supreme Court indicating that the landmark Roe V. In 2003, a sex strike helped to end Liberia’s brutal civil war. The woman who started it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Americans who would sacrifice anything to protect their children may be surprised to learn that their inclination is a rather modern phenomenon. For most of human history, the most dangerous period of any person’s life was childhood. Only if a newborn survived the first decade of disease, warfare, hunger, and all the other mundane threats to ordinary human existence would the survivor gain any type of social recognition. O.M. Bakke explores this reality in his book, “When Children Became People: The Birth of Childhood in Early Christianity.”

At practically any point in the past 15 years, I would have told you that SCOTUS overturning Roe v. Wade would be a major factor in the next election, whenever that election happened to be. But inflation was a remote prospect in America during those 15 years. Almost a myth. As it is, I’ve begun to wonder if rising prices might end up achieving something I would have otherwise thought impossible. They may “Roe-proof” the midterms for Republicans. This CNN poll is so gory for Biden and his party that it should be rated NC-17: Only 23% rate economic conditions as even somewhat good, down from 37% in December and 54% last April.
