These are challenging – and suddenly quite deadly — days to be a general leading Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Outnumbered, outmatched, and outgunned, after three full weeks of combat, Ukrainian forces have managed to stymie Russian advances across the country, which is about nine-tenths the size of Texas.
Even worse for Russian strategies and morale, nearly a dozen senior officers are believed to have been killed, including five generals, along with what intelligence estimates to be about 7,000 Russian dead. In addition, unconfirmed reports say four more generals have been sacked

As I always say, never pick a fight with any country that prides itself in their Olympic medalists for shooting.

They mention a couple times the Russian problem of everyone afraid to make a decision so continually pushing it up the chain of command. I always got in trouble for just the opposite: wearing E-3 and acting E-7. Maybe I was ahead of my time.

Russian generals "...are believed to have been killed..." "...unconfirmed reports say...". It's impossible to know what is propaganda, what is wishful thinking, and what is simple reporting.

They are doing no such thing. The Russians are in complete control. The EU is steadily walking themselves over a cliff.

Looks to me as if the ruskis are in for a long, tough slog with current tactics. No major cities have been taken. I don't see Mr Putin being satisfied with a siege. Either they escalate or withdraw. I set the odds at 75/25.

I'll say it again, this tragic war did not have to happen. All the deaths are on the biden cartel.

I sincerely hope that the people of Ukraine win this on their own.
That would be a true victory.

Looks Like Redstate bought the MSM and Biden propaganda. Putin is cleaning out the Nazis and corruption in Ukraine that was massively paid for and instigated in part by our CIA and Odumbo's state department. Nuland and Vindman as well as Soros and others need the firing squad in my opinion. The truth will completely come out and the MSM will yet again prove to be lying to us. Putin is not losing in this war.

One of the most important jobs of a sniper has been to shoot officers, the higher ranked the better.
This is why our Army uses very low visibility rank badges on field uniforms, and avoids saluting and such when out of doors where they may be observed.

Never happen to any of our generals....to them the front is a line on a map, well away from the smell of cordite and rotting bodies.

More years ago than I like to admit, the Colonel I worked for had me brief a delegation of Russian officers. First they were surprised to be briefed by an enlisted soldier, then they expressed disbelief that I was, in fact, an enlisted soldier.
Even at that time, 1993, the Russian military did not have a strong NCO Corps, nor did they believe in one.
We have won countless battles because an NCO took charge and carried the day We will continue to do so as long as we encourage independent thinking in our NCO Corps.

If you ask me, much of the responsibility of this war belongs to Zelensky, the autocratic former actor/dancer who now leads his nation at the front--of a blue screen.
Whence come this late resistance with its pin-point attacks sapping the aggressor's command?
CIA and EU intelligence. Who else?
Two things remain standing that ought to be considered: Putin's resolve and the possibility that some of its reasons for his invasion may be legitimate.

#10 " Putin is not losing in this war." Are you serious? His army is getting its butt kicked, a thousand soldiers are KIA or WIA every day, and its convoys are being turned into flaming hulks, and nearly a month into the war, they don't have complete control over a single Ukrainian city. Some "not losing."

If the snipers are hitting anyone they are hitting field officers. What our 1 and 2 star generals used to be. Think Patton - on the ground and at the front lines. Cutting the head off the snake, so to speak.
Their problem is, they're not getting the head. Putin is the head. His higher generals and regional miitary planners. Russia has always been good at promoting people into postions where the predecessor is a predeceaser.
If you want to cut the head off the snake your aim bwtter be higher, politically.

Agree with #8, also to a large degree this war is the end result of Deep State, Inc. involvement in and with Ukraine and Russia, wherein they made Russia, when they weren't in bed with them, the fall guy, the evil presence in the background for all their domestic schemes instead of taking the long view, the patriotic [for America and the west] view of seeing Russia as inherently a member of the west, in view of it's many cultural and other contributions to the west, always keeping in mind Russia's looooong unpopulated border with China, it's vast reserves of valuable raw materials therein and how the west, not China must have them. Decades of Demorat mean girl treatment of Russia is a big contributor to what we see today in Ukraine.
