Supreme Court tosses Wisconsin legislative
voting maps

Washington - The Supreme Court on Wednesday threw out Wisconsin state legislative maps that were preferred by the state’s Democratic governor and selected by Wisconsin’s top court. But while the justices in an unsigned opinion threw out voting maps the Wisconsin Supreme Court had selected for the State Assembly and Senate, they left in place state congressional maps. The state’s highest court selected the maps from a range of options after lawmakers couldn’t agree. Republicans had complained that Gov. Tony Evers’ maps moved too many people to increase the number of Assembly districts with a majority of Black and Hispanic voters from six to seven in violation

If the lawmakers delegate their duties to the judicial system, what are they for? Are they getting salaries? make them pay back the $$ they haven't earned

The SCOTUS's first responsibility is maintaining our system. If Democrats pick up more seats because of their aggressive Gerrymandering; even though there are historic polling against the Democrats, there is a very angry electorate, and Republicans will get far more votes... Our system will break. That could trigger a Civil War. I believe Americans will start voting with high-speed led if Democrats demonstrate that their votes at the polls no longer matter. SCOTUS has to tamp down this scam, at least enough to save the country. You see, they can't be on the SCOTUS if there is no US.

These writers lie right from the beginning. The map that was thrown out was not the Legislatures map but the map drawn by the governor and approved by the Wis Supreme Court. SCOTUS just let the map drawn by the organization with constitutional authority stand. Pathetic, biased and misleading "journalism".

President Biden warned that the Russian invasion of Ukraine will likely cause food shortages in some parts of the world because both countries are major exporters of wheat, in remarks to reporters in Brussels on Wednesday. “It’s going to be real. The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia; it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country as well,” Biden said. “Both Russia and Ukraine have been the breadbasket of Europe in terms of wheat, for example — just to give you one example.”

After returning to metro San Francisco following a college football career, Anthony Giusti felt like his hometown was passing him by. The high cost of living, driven by a constantly transforming tech industry, ensured that even with two jobs he would never save enough money to buy a house. So he started looking elsewhere, settling on Houston just last year. “In Houston, I can be a blue-collar entrepreneur. With the Houston housing market, it made sense to come here,” said Giusti, who started a house-painting business. Giusti was one of tens of thousands of residents who vacated some of the nation’s biggest, most densely-populated and costly metropolitan areas in favor of Sunbelt

Joe Biden was in Brussels on Thursday for a NATO meeting on the Russian war against Ukraine and the concerns that poses for the alliance. As we noted earlier, he was grinning like a Cheshire cat and blowing off questions, while most of the other leaders arriving were taking questions. But then, he did a press conference where he had a list of folks to call on, as he often does. But even with the obvious scripting, he still couldn’t hold it together on the world stage–and made an embarrassing mess of things yet again. Biden claimed that he never said that sanctions would deter Vladimir Putin, despite the fact

The Arizona legislature on Thursday passed a controversial bill banning abortions in the state after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The state House passed the measure, which resembles a Mississippi law now being challenged at the U.S. Supreme Court, along party lines, The Associated Press reported. The Arizona senate passed the legislation last month, also along party lines. The bill, which does not contain any exceptions for rape, incest or a medical emergency, now goes to Gov. Doug Ducey (R), who has signaled he will sign it into law. Arizona joins a growing number of red states passing restrictive abortion laws. Florida also passed a copycat law to the 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi,

President Joe Biden said Thursday that NATO would respond "in kind" if Russia uses weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine. "We will respond if he uses it," Biden said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "The nature of the response depends on the nature of the use." The president spoke after a marathon of summit meetings with the European Union, G-7 partners and NATO allies. Biden also said he would support an effort to expel Russia from the G-20 group of economies. The president declined to say whether the United States has evidence that China has helped Russia evade sanctions or sold American high tech equipment to Russia

Brussels - President Joe Biden said the most effective tool to end the invasion of Ukraine will be keeping NATO and European allies united and punishing those countries who defy sanctions against Russia. He also said, following a day of meeting with key allies here, that Russia should be expelled from the G20 group of nations, and that if the other G20 nations didn’t support expelling Russia from the group then he would make the case for Ukraine to be able to participate in the meetings. "The single most important thing is for us to stay unified and the world to continue to focus on what a brute this guy

Yesterday’s drama between the Mo Brooks campaign in Alabama and Donald Trump is an interesting one, which sees some of what we’ve been hearing behind the scenes spilling out into the open. Yesterday, Trump rescinded his endorsement of Brooks, who is currently running for U.S. Senate in Alabama. Trump took aim at Brooks urging Republicans to move on from the 2020 stolen election and focus on winning future elections. Trump also accused Brooks of hiring NeverTrump consultants and changing his messaging in a way that made him plummet in the polls.

As we’ve previously reported, the mainstream media and the “progressive” left have been braying like mules for the last several weeks over the Florida parental rights legislation that critics have falsely labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. To his credit, Gov. Ron DeSantis has responded accordingly to the outcry and various fake narratives surrounding the bill, noting that it does not in fact “ban” saying “gay” in public school classrooms and that in actuality, what it does is prevents age-inappropriate lesson plans on sexual orientation and gender ideology in K-3 classrooms, and enshrines parental rights when it comes to discussions of such sensitive subject matters with children.

Voters in key congressional battleground states are turning their backs on President Joe Biden and Democrats, angered about the souring economy and the party’s backhanded responses to their concerns about inflation. A new poll commissioned by the GOP found that voters feel team Biden is both “out of touch” and “condescending,” traits that have led to a widening preference gap in the congressional midterm elections that favors Republicans. “Battleground voters continue to hold Democrats responsible for the negative impact that record-high inflation, soaring crime, and the crisis along our southern border are having on their lives.

Washington -  As President Joe Biden meets with key allies in Brussels to coordinate a stronger response to Russia’s monthlong assault on Ukraine, a new poll shows Americans have yet to rally around his leadership. Concern about Russia has swelled and support for a major U.S. role in the conflict strengthened in the last month, but Biden’s negative approval rating has not budged, according to the poll Thursday from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Few are very confident that he can handle a crisis, and a majority thinks he lacks toughness in dealing with Russia. Only 43% of Americans approve of Biden

We'll get to the CDC changes in a moment. First, we are just beginning to quantify the ongoing damage done by COVID, as well as the harm inflicted by related lockdowns and restrictions. Children and students were particularly hard-hit by the latter phenomenon, as they were overwhelmingly safe from severe outcomes from Coronavirus infections – yet had their learning, development and overall wellbeing aggressively stunted by terrible government policies in many parts of the country. We also know that drug overdoses surged overall, and youth suicide attempts increased, during this stressful period featuring a great deal of social isolation.
