An armed suspect was arrested in Houston on Thursday evening in the shootings of three city police officers, authorities said. The arrest came after the suspect was barricaded in a house and surrounded by police. He surrendered about 7:45 p.m. and was expected to undergo surgery late Thursday for a gunshot wound to his neck, police said. The suspect had been pursued there by police following the shootings of the officers, who each hospitalized in stable condition.

Comments:

Classic responses: Mayor Turner said he and Chief Finner planned next week to map out "additional steps" for making the city safer. White House press Secretary Jen Psaki said "gun violence" was a "huge reason" for the increase in crime, and also blamed the "underfunding of some police departments and their need for additional resources." Damn guns are getting rowdy...and would anyone like to wager on this perp's citizenship?

Too bad whoever shot him hadn't gone to the Range the day before so that he had a better Aim! Time to Shoot to kill these Monsters instead of just wounding them so that they can come back some day and sue the Cop who shot him. Enough of that nonsense!

The Houston police need to be sent to the shooting range, if their shooting is as bad as this.

The mass killing of six people shocked neighbors and public officials in Milwaukee, already weary of the relentless and devastating gun violence in the city over the past two years. The horrific scene was discovered Sunday afternoon when Milwaukee police were asked to do a welfare check about 3:45 p.m. at a duplex in the 2500 block of N. 21st St., within the city's Park West neighborhood.

The Republican leader of the state Assembly on Thursday placed sanctions on one of his members who has for more than a year falsely claimed former President Trump won the 2020 election in Wisconsin and has proposed legislation to pull back Wisconsin's electoral votes, which is impossible. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos stripped Rep. Timothy Ramthun of Campbellsport of his only staffer after Ramthun falsely accused Vos of signing a deal with attorneys for former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to authorize ballot drop boxes, according to Vos's office.

If U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson made a New Year's resolution to take a more measured approach when discussing public policy, it didn't take him long to break it. Because the state's most polarizing politician is already back to offering his often wild and controversial take on things in 2022. Johnson — who last year advised using mouthwash to combat COVID-19 and labeled Social Security a Ponzi scheme — has already roped God into his bizarre take on vaccines and again questioned the seriousness of last year's Capitol riot. Now he's taking on a new topic: out-of-wedlock births.CORRECTION*

Ukraine was hit by a cyberattack splashing a warning across government websites to "be afraid and expect the worst", while Russia, which has massed 100,000 troops on its neighbour's frontier, released pictures of more of its forces on the move. The cyber attack unfolded hours after talks wrapped up with no breakthrough between Russia and Western allies, which fear Moscow could launch a new military assault on a country it invaded in 2014.

With Milwaukee's Police Chief Jeffrey Norman standing by his side, Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson announced sweeping policy proposals Wednesday to help combat crime as Milwaukee faces rising homicides, gun violence, car thefts and reckless driving. In the newly released strategy, the acting mayor aims to ramp up the city's law enforcement — including maintaining its level of sworn officers — to deal with the rising number of violent crimes, create resources to promote community healing and provide neighborhood-level support to address the root causes of violence in Milwaukee.

More Milwaukee restaurants have begun requiring proof of vaccination from dine-in customers, saying it's necessary for the safety of staff and patrons and to keep their businesses operating. "It’s not meant to be punitive; it’s meant to be protective," in the way cutting off a customer from drinking is, said Melissa Buchholz, co-owner of Odd Duck, 2352 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. The restaurant this week announced on social media that it would require proof of vaccination — a vaccination card, a photo of the card or the online vaccine record filed with the state — along with photo ID.

The emergence of Web3, a vision of the internet built on blockchain-based, decentralized systems, has many investors licking their chops because of its financial upside. Meanwhile, others are betting on Web3’s downfall. As a result, the district suspended her for a day and removed the flag in her absence. The local teachers' union responded by encouraging staff to wear rainbows in solidarity with Whaley on Friday. That idea spread to parents and students.

Former Vice President Mike Pence revealed that he has not spoken to former President Trump since last summer. He suggested that Jan. 6, 2021 marked a souring in their relationship. That day, ahead of the Capitol riot, Trump said that Pence 'didn't have the courage' to object to the election results during Congress' certification. Fox News' Jesse Waters asked Pence when the last time he spoke to Trump was on his show Thursday evening. 'You know, we talked last summer,' Pence said. Now, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden have finally welcomed Willow, after speaking of a long-promised cat, to their pet family.

Guns, guns, and more guns. These days the complexity of gun ownership in this country is just that, complex. To me, the Second Amendment is pretty straightforward. The question I have is when is it appropriate to get the gun out? When is the right time? Is it the right time to shoot a dog during a dog fight, or if a dog attacks you? A video from Oregon today shows a man who guns down his neighbors’ pitbull after it came running towards him in his front yard.

With Justice Stephen Breyer officially announcing his retirement on Thursday (a full 24 hours after the White House announced it for him), Senate Democrats will have a chance to fill a Supreme Court seat, likely before the 2022 midterm elections in November. But ever since 2017, when Senate Republicans invoked the nuclear option to confirm Supreme Court justices at a simple majority, instead of at the usual 60 votes necessary to break a filibuster, there has been procedurally little minorities can do to prevent a nomination from moving forward (the outright lies, smears, and chaos tactics Senate Democrats employed against Justice Brett Kavanaugh notwithstanding).

King admitted that he had sold some firearms, but stressed that they were mostly long guns that other Amish could use for hunting. He noted that he sold some to non-Amish too. He added, “I was not dealing in handguns, positively not.” The Blaze noted that King “[did not] advertise the sale of his guns online and

One of the main tenants for a stable and law-abiding society is a judicial system that enforces laws and ensures equal justice for all.The reverse is true in progressive cities, resulting in an increase in crime. Various government organizations, even all the way up to the Department of Justice, have gone astray. Social justice warriors are now in positions in the DOJ to implement “racial justice”, which determines how to prosecute cases based on the race and/or social justice cause, not commensurate with the crimes committed.A perfect example can be seen in a murder committed by a BLM arsonist.
