Summit View Elementary special education kindergarten teacher Sarah Whaley pinned a LGBTQ pride flag in her classroom and refused to take it down after the school district requested she do so. As a result, the district suspended her for a day and removed the flag in her absence. The local teachers' union responded by encouraging staff to wear rainbows in solidarity with Whaley on Friday. That idea spread to parents and students.

Comments:

Today's schools can teach children about LGBQ+++ "pride" and other wonderful causes that pop up...and the kiddos are so well educated that they cannot make change at the local gas station quickie mart after they graduate. Got to have the right priorities! BTW: The school district has a policy of banning other such advocacy signage from its classrooms, such as Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, or Thin Blue Line signage.

I do support the rights of all people -- including women, LGBTQ+ (or whatever letters we are using today), black folks, white folks, brown folks, and so forth. Schools are places where reading, writing, maths, history, social studies, sports, music, etc. should be taught. Schools are not getting those things right. Our kids are not receiving excellent educations. I am a Christian, but I don't think crosses should adorn the walls of public schools. I am a Republican, but I don't think pictures of Ronald Reagan should be on the bulletin boards of classrooms in public schools. Ditto flags of various flavors -- except government flags because that is where the funding for the schools comes from. Waukesha is right on this. Teach kids. Stop pushing this or that political agenda. And I say that about political views I agree with!

A faction of the students, parents, and teachers decided to subvert this decision. If a faction of Muslim and Orthodox Christians who strongly believe their God condemns homosexual acts decides to take the same actions - that would be a hate crime. Enough of this. If a teacher can't keep her sexuality out of an elementary school classroom, then FIRE HER... or HIM... or IT. I don't care as long as they get them the hell away from our children.

Schools are institutions that should be committed to education not politics. There is no place in America's schools for anything but education. Elementary curriculums must be focused on the basics to prepare students for secondary and post secondary education in absolute absence of politics. Secondary curriculum should be focused on encouraging and developing student's career choices and preparing them for college. This too must occur in a sterile environment. There are laws that prohibit guns and illicit drugs in schools to promote safety. Politics are poisonous to cognitive development and the degree of saturation in public school is as lethal. Encouraging one dimensional thinking leads to an incomplete education and diluted and convoluted world views. That is indoctrination not education. Indoctrination strips students of the ability to judge and discriminate. Indoctrination reinforces this with severe ridicule and encourages peer rebuffs and humiliation that is psychologically damaging. This sort of bullying is not only acceptable but encouraged, it's no coincidence that school shootings arose in such environments. In recent years, schools have paid lip service to the problem of bulling yet the political battering continues. This must stop. We need to enact laws against this sort of propagandizing and conditioning and start by cleaning house in public education. Administrators and parents know who these deviant educators are and must demand their removal and prevention from ever holding a teaching position again. We pay for all of this with taxes and have a right to demand better for our children.

If you know the politics of the teacher, they are a failure, and should be removed. Thinking back to my grade school and high school years, I don't think I could definitively tell you the politics of any of my teachers at all. Of course, this was still before the Carter years, when DoE was established, and the feds got their dirty hands in our local schools.

Put that gag-inducing flag up in your own home but keep it away from kindergarten-age children. They are too young to understand your perversion and should not be subjected to it. Open display of homosexuality and its adornments around children is a blatant attempt to recruit them. You disgrace your profession. Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations have been infiltrated and ruined, isn't that enough?

They are all about pushing the evil and immoral onto our naive children, but have they once tried to teach honest things about history? Like some of the black heroes of black culture in history. I know there are plenty, and it is a shame that whites know more about them than the black community does. Give the kids heroes they can relate to, and you might find they work to become successful in life, rather than thugs who go to prison.

Teachers should not display political items in the classroom. If she can do this, then a teacher should be able to display the Confederate Battle Flag. That would cause a bunch of leftist exploding heads. There have actually been calls from the usual America haters to hide the US flag because it represents colonialism, white privilege, and, of course, racism.

If U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson made a New Year's resolution to take a more measured approach when discussing public policy, it didn't take him long to break it. Because the state's most polarizing politician is already back to offering his often wild and controversial take on things in 2022. Johnson — who last year advised using mouthwash to combat COVID-19 and labeled Social Security a Ponzi scheme — has already roped God into his bizarre take on vaccines and again questioned the seriousness of last year's Capitol riot. Now he's taking on a new topic: out-of-wedlock births.
