Why Black Americans are leading the NFT,
crypto revolution

The emergence of Web3, a vision of the internet built on blockchain-based, decentralized systems, has many investors licking their chops because of its financial upside. Meanwhile, others are betting on Web3’s downfall. The rise of NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, in popularity and demand may be the clearest indication of Web3’s promise. “NFTs will be ubiquitous,” Brandon Buchanan, founder and managing partner of Meta4 Capital, a crypto-focused investment management firm, told Yahoo Finance this week. “Everything we're doing now, and we're starting with art and collectives, will shift to gaming and everything from ticketing to events.”

Comments:

It's a classic get-rich-quick quest, regardless of race, sex, color, or creed. From rusty KIA to a Lambo...just drop a few hundred and become a crypto-zillionaire overnight. Or, not. As the article says, "Minority communities, who have historically been left out of growing industries like alcohol, marijuana and more, are now eager to be a part of this latest shift." Just another lottery.

Summit View Elementary special education kindergarten teacher Sarah Whaley pinned a LGBTQ pride flag in her classroom and refused to take it down after the school district requested she do so. As a result, the district suspended her for a day and removed the flag in her absence. The local teachers' union responded by encouraging staff to wear rainbows in solidarity with Whaley on Friday. That idea spread to parents and students.

And there is no audio recording of what happened.

Former President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at George W. Bush for his 9/11 20th anniversary speech in which he appeared to compare the Jan. 6 rioters to foreign terrorists, saying the 43rd president, who was in office when the 9/11 attacks happened, “shouldn’t be lecturing anybody!” “So interesting to watch former President Bush, who is responsible for getting us into the quicksand of the Middle East (and then not winning!), as he lectures us that terrorists on the ’right’ are a bigger problem than those from foreign countries that hate America, and that are pouring into our Country right now,” Trump said in an emailed statement.

Cam Newton chose not to get vaccinated. Bill Belichick chose to keep a quarterback room that was. Life is all about choices. The New England Patriots stunned the sports world on Tuesday morning when Newton was released by the team. The timing caught everyone off guard as the decision went against every narrative that was in the public eye, as Newton and rookie Mac Jones were locked in a contested battle for the starting spot.

The 34-year-old’s football career is presumably over now.

Joe Zich doesn't have one secret to staying on a baseball diamond at age 81. He has several, and he'll tell you all about them. It's the running two to three times a week, the stretching regimen, the tossing to a backstop two to three times a week with a rubber ball he bought from Dunham's Sports. He'll tell you all about the mechanics he uses on the mound, skills that have enabled him to keep pitching after all these years. To reiterate: "Lefty Joe" pitches for his baseball team. This isn't slow-pitch softball.

More and more informed observers are asking why, after 13+ years of the Federal Reserve’s increasingly aggressive monetary interventions, the benefits remain so skewed toward Wall Street over Main Street. The answer is simple: follow the money. Using its traditional tools, the Fed pumps money into the financial system, hoping it will make its way into the broader economy. But the Fed can’t control where the money goes or who financial institutions decide to lend to, and clearly, the primary beneficiaries have been investors and the ultra-rich.

The rebuilding of the FBI should be overseen by a board chartered with the mission of rehabilitation, and staffed with people who care about integrity and understand what a well-functioning police organization should look like.

Amid low approval ratings and continued press attention on her role, Vice President Kamala Harris has turned to another powerful woman who clashed with critics, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for guidance. And she has concluded she would get better treatment in the media if she were white and male like all of her predecessors, telling her allies as much. Harris has contended with departing aides and gripes about her leadership style, amid complaints from within her circle about that difficult tasks she has been assigned, including dealing with 'root causes' of the border crisis.

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) just crushed Biden’s hope of getting his Build Back Better (BBB) massive spending bill passed. Leftism is driven by committee advice; it’s how the echo-chambering communal groupthink works. After the White House COVID “Winter of Death” messaging was ridiculed and ignored by almost everyone in the general public, the communications team quickly went back to the drawing board. However, the ordinary emotional disposition of leftists and Democrats, writ large, is depressing, angry and negative, the result from a lifetime of blame casting.

A fourth jab could now be rolled out early to millions of Britons after a new study showed protection against Omicron wanes within three months of a booster. People infected with the contagious variant are 70 per cent less likely to end up in hospital, an official analysis of real-world cases has confirmed. But the analysis from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) also reveals that immunity from boosters fades more quickly against Omicron compared to Delta. Those who received two AstraZeneca doses, plus a Pfizer or Moderna booster, have 60 per cent protection against Omicron for two to weeks after the third jab. But after ten weeks,
