Pete Buttigieg's plan to add more speed cameras to America's roads as a way patrolling them more 'fairly' has been panned by critics who say it will only lead to more speeding fines under the guise of equity and road safety. Buttigieg announced the plan yesterday and claims it will reduce the number of deadly road collisions.
The highway plan is receiving some $17billion from Biden's $1.2trillion infrastructure bill, which will be used in part to pay for the cameras.(Snip)'When the country applauded $1.2 trillion going to fixing the roads, bridges and buildings, a lot of us were dumb enough to think that's what might actually happen,'

More people than ever are getting shot and killed all over the country because of the defund the police efforts of the dims yet they are worried about speeding on the highways. These people really are stupid and unfortunately that's not fixable.

Many are hoping that Pete's nail polish has tried by now. His husband/wife, Chasten, should know. The question circling Washington, DC is whether Pete will take another 2 month paternity leave to assist Chasten.
What's next, Pete? Speed bumps every 100 yards on highways?

Studies show that slow drivers cause more highway accidents than speeders, particularly when they camp in the passing lane and force others to maneuver around them. That's of no concern when there's more money to be extracted from the human resources that comprise the USA.

I can't wait for the Biden/Buttigieg administration to reduce the speed limits in West Texas back to 55 where they belong, or maybe even 50 so we can save lives while saving the planet.

It sounds like they will spend our tax money on just about anything but fixing roads and bridges. You know, the actual "infrastructure". The rruth is, if they fix the right stuff, we will keep driving and polluting, and they really want us on public transportation and out of personal vehicles.

Our government wants the revenue from speeding tickets, but not the cops. Voila! More traffic cameras!
Cops are racists, but traffic cameras aren't. How cynical can you get? What are they going to do when a black person trips a camera? Ignore the infraction? Wouldn't put it pass them.
The Biden administration is loaded with stupid fools top to bottom.

Symbolism over substance.
Most people don't hire an atty when they go to traffic court.
My legal plan does. I had a small accident. My atty said he would represent me in court without me being there. After several months of court date delays, the charges were dismissed. (I don't know why.)

From what they have been doing, you can’t put it past Biden and Buttigieg to lower the speed limits on the Interstate Highways back to 55 miles per hour just as Carter did during his time in the White House. That would slow down all the long haul truckers further sabotaging the supply chain and the economy.

Red light cameras have been banned in Houston, Texas, because of their manifest unpopularity, which translates into no support for any politician that imposes them. As for Buttegg, red light cameras are a local issue, not any of the federal government's dam business. Furthermore, and I feel strongly about this and the JA's in our federal government, we have funded infrastructure every year, and you have not spent any of the money on infrastructure, instead wasting it on foreign wars for your personal enrichment and vanity, as the elite want an important job with power, instead of getting a job with a cereal making company, or some other productive job in the private sector. My sentiments for the federal government are negative, having begun my career declining their we want you overtures to die in Vietnam, and the relationship has not gotten any better, or their offers or compulsory orders of any more benefit to me.

Buttigieg is a complete lightweight totally unqualified to be in any position in Washington. Former Mayor of Podunk Indiana (I’ve been there many times) is not impressive on a resume. He was neither popular or effective. If he was not gay he would never have been considered but he allowed them to check the box. Now we are in a complete cluster in our transportation system, i.e. rail strikes, rail robberies, supply chain debacle, trucker vaccine mandates, etc, and we have this moron in charge. The results are obvious.

- Red light cameras cause 2-3 times more rear-end collisions, how many will speed traps cameras will cause?
- Cameras only show that the car violated the law, courts say that is not proof the registered drivers did. This means the violations are not attached to a person’s driving record, no added points.
- Judges often dismiss the ticket if the picture of the driver is not clear. Wearing a mask while driving finally makes sense.

Here's an unintended consequence of traffic cameras that I shared when I taught Traffic School in CA. The photos taken of the speeding driver show the driver and the person in the front seat next to the driver. This could prove to be embarrassing or worse, if the person in the passenger seat is the husband's girlfriend or boyfriend (it is CA). It could cause all sorts of problems that the govt. didn't foresee. Lawsuits, anyone?

Texas has almost seven hundred thousand miles of farm-to-market roads, many with 70 mph speed limits. In the center of the state, the toll road running between Georgetown and San Antonio has a posted speed limit of 85 mph. I don't see the Texas or Texans ( organic or imports) going back to a nationally mandated 55 mph speed limit any more than I see Texans happily giving up their internal combustion engines all because a bunch of queens in DC say so.

How many "Infrastructure" laws have Demonrats passed under emotional hissy-fits only to have that money be diverted into the pockets of leftist organizations who do nothing for roads and bridges. In fact, that money invariably is given to organizations with a long history of making heavy donations to Demonrat politicians and the DNC, while also paying large salaries to executives in their ranks who rotate through the revolving door of the Federal government Civil Service Executive ranks like fry cooks at McDonalds and Burger King. It's time to STOP this Federal largesse and States to own their problems and fix them by themselves. No more of my Tax money going to fix Yankee roads and bridges when their governments misuse their own taxes.

Last week, while riding in my son's car, I heard an alert warn him of a pothole ahead. I remember back when those little foreign cars only told you, ''Your door is ajar.'' Foreign cars were eating Detroit's lunch back then; but the cars were made by conquered countries so it wasn't thought of as un-American to purchase them.

Thank you # 3. In many if not most places or highways in Europe you pass in the passing lane and then you promptly move back into the regular lane and get our of the way of faster cars moving along in the passing lane.
And most people in Europe obey and courteously agree to those rules. Not so much in The USA. The rule here seems to be "this is my lane and I'm sticking to it. You're driving too dang fast. I'm reportin you to the law."

Those who are willing to trade freedom for equity deserve neither freedom nor anything else but their chains.
