ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A fire ripped through a distribution center in North Carolina for the QVC home-shopping television network early Saturday, causing extensive damage to the facility, officials said. More than 300 employees were working at the facility near Rocky Mount when the fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m., The News & Observer reported. No injuries were immediately reported.
QVC representatives reported that all employees safely evacuated the warehouse and were accounted for except for one who hadn’t contacted family yet, according to Edgecombe County Manager Eric Evans. Earlier Saturday, Evans had said all of the center’s employees

SAN FRANCISCO—On Wednesday, San Francisco Mayor London Breed made a fiery speech in response to recent increases in thefts and drug sales and use in the city, particularly in the Tenderloin, a notoriously gritty stretch residents say has had similar issues for decades. The South African government reports today that the Omicron variant is widespread yet not creating any medical issues. “Only 1.7% of identified Covid-19 cases were admitted to hospital in the second week of infections in the fourth wave, compared with 19% in the same week of the third delta-driven wave, South African Health Minister Joe Phaahla said at a press conference.” At the same time, the White House COVID crisis response team is driving the fearmongering around Omicron at staggering levels of propaganda and fear porn.

President Joe Biden has experienced a tremendous drop in support among the younger demographic — those under the age of 30 — since taking office, a YouGov/Economist survey found.According to the Economist’s analysis of the data, “Mr Biden’s failure to impress the young now threatens his presidency,” as he has lost significant support since January. Currently, just 29 percent of adults under the age of 30 approve of Biden’s job performance, while half disapprove.“The net rating of -21 points is the worst for any age group,” the Economist found. However, his net approval is underwater with other age groups as well.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott debuted the first part of the state-made border wall Saturday, which he labeled a sharp rebuke of Biden’s "failure to do his job."Abbott authorized the building of the wall six months ago, and then authorized $3 billion funding for the Texas Facilities Commission to bolster the building effort. Abbott stressed that the wall stands on either state land or land that private owners agreed to hand over for the wall. "Texas is taking what truly is unprecedented action: A state to build a wall on our border, to safeguard the sovereignty of our state and of our nation," Abbott said during Saturday's press conference.

For many years, Target partnered with local police to “Shop with a Cop” for Christmas. These are poor kids who may not get much from Santa.
Cornell canceled that this year.

For many years—most of my politically cognizant life, in fact—I felt secure in my politics. Truth and justice, I believed, leaned leftward. If you were some version of a decent human being, you cared about those less fortunate than you, which meant that you supported a whole host of measures designed to even the playing field a little. Sometimes, these measures had unintended consequences (see under: Stalin, Josef), but that wasn’t reason enough to despair of the long march to equality.

Fear is now the only language our politicians speak. There’ll soon be a ‘tidal wave’ of Omicron in the UK, said Boris Johnson last night. He was echoing Scotland’s first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, who warns of a ‘tsunami of infections’. These watery metaphors, these prophecies of breakers of disease crashing on the shores of the UK, capture the extent to which the politics of dread and doom have replaced calm analysis. Covid is a transmissible virus. It is not a punishment visited upon us by Poseidon. It is not a hellish rush that will wipe away entire towns.

Effective Jan. 1, Medicare doctors can boost their reimbursement rates by conducting "a clinic-wide review" of their practice's "commitment to anti-racism." The plan should cover "value statements" and "clinical practice guidelines," according to HHS, and define race as "a political and social construct, not a physiological one"—a dichotomy many doctors say will discourage genetic testing and worsen racial health disparities.

As a retired physician, I cannot be coerced to keep silent with threats to my medical license or hospital privileges. COVID-19 is probably the greatest and most successful swindle in history. The coveted blood has been used for nearly 20 years and has been vital tool in testing the coronavirus vaccines currently on the market. Scientists drain the horseshoe crabs of their blood and return them to the ocean,

Pfizer on Friday said the Covid pandemic will continue through the 2022 midterms and could extend to 2024.
Just in time for the general election.
Is this also an admission the Covid vaccines don’t work?
Reuters reported:
Pfizer Inc (PFE.N) on Friday forecast that the COVID-19 pandemic would not be behind us until 2024 and said a lower-dose version of its vaccine for 2- to 4-year-olds generated a weaker immune response than expected, potentially delaying authorization.
Pfizer Chief Scientific Officer Mikael Dolsten said in a presentation to investors that the company expects some regions to continue to see pandemic levels of COVID-19 cases over the next year or two.

Frequently, the week’s top knucklehead earns this dreaded honor for a singular, overwhelmingly idiotic action or statement which is supported by other, underlying knuckleheadedness. The song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” has certainly had its fair share of controversy in recent years. In 2018, the infamous Christmas classic made headlines when numerous radio stations moved to scrap the song after its lyrics were deemed controversial.
Although many conservatives may see this as another example of cancel culture plaguing our society, I view it as a necessary development for a more progressive civilization. Such grotesque and misogynistic rhetoric should not be tolerated, especially in supposed family-oriented music.
While the attempted canceling of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” is a step in the right direction, it didn’t go nearly far enough.

An advocacy group has written a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg calling for greater equity in car crash dummy tests, claiming that the male body has been far too favored, leading to needless deaths of women.
The letter from Vehicle Equity Rules in Transportation (VERITY NOW), co-chaired by former Republican Congresswoman Susan Molinary, claimed that vehicle crash tests have not adequately taken into account of the harmful effects that collisions have on female bodies. The letter stated:

Jake West was a seemingly healthy 17-year-old when he collapsed during high school football practice in Indiana and died of sudden cardiac arrest. A video widely shared online falsely suggests COVID-19 vaccination is to blame, weaving headlines about him into a rapid-fire compilation of news coverage about athletes collapsing. The vaccine played no role in West’s death — he died from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2013, seven years before the pandemic began. The video is just one example of many similar compilations circulating on the internet that use deceptive tactics to link vaccines to a supposed wave of deaths,

Arizona’s State Board for Charter School promoted an LGBTQ+ training for faculty which encouraged educators to incorporate “LGBTQ-inclusive” curriculum beginning in Kindergarten, according to an email reviewed by the Daily Caller.
GLSEN — pronounced “glisten” — is a New York-based education organization that works to create “safe and LGBTQ-inclusive K-12 schools” nationwide. The organization hosted a training for educators in September, in part to promote its “Rainbow Library Project,” which distributes literature on LGBTQ+ ideology.

Of all the elements of today’s “New Normal,” the most ominous is the “reform” that effectively changed the meanings of previously accepted words or terms. The following glossary illustrates how changes to our vocabulary played a central role in making the world a more dangerous and frightening place. New Normal - “Normal” is something that has long been the norm and is accepted as the norm. The key point is that the “old” normal no longer applies.

Donald Trump's Energy Secretary Rick Perry was revealed on Friday to be the person who texted Mark Meadows with an 'aggressive' plan to have Republican-controlled state legislatures overturn Joe Biden's election victory. CNN revealed Perry as the person behind the text, which was read publicly - but anonymously - on the House floor this week during the vote on holding Meadows in contemp of Congress.
A spokesman for the former Texas governor, however, denied it was Perry's number to the network.

Kamala Harris on Friday appeared to blame scientists for the United States' failure to be better prepared for Omicron - insisting that the virologists 'upon whose advice and direction we have relied' were blind to the next wave.Harris, in an interview with The Los Angeles Times, said that the Biden administration 'didn't see' Delta and Omicron coming. 'We didn't see Delta coming,' Harris told the paper. 'I think most scientists did not - upon whose advice and direction we have relied - didn't see Delta coming.' Harris spoke as the Omicron variant has been spreading nationwide, with 39 states now having detected cases as of late Friday,

The hit Broadway musical “Company” called curtains before the first song of Friday night’s performance — over an apparent case of food poisoning. The sudden announcement sparked a small panic among the audience at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre after several productions were forced to close this week due to coronavirus outbreaks.“Immediately everyone thought they got a [positive] PCR test back… but they made it immediately clear it was not COVID,” said theatergoer Maddie Kevelson, an Upper West Side resident who works as a costume assistant.

The California Department of Education is facing questions over why it is paying a six figure salary to an individual who has been tasked with overseeing “equity” initiatives in the state’s schools despite his residing in Philadelphia which is over 2,500 miles away.
According to a report by Politico, Daniel Lee, who is described as a “psychologist, life coach and self-help author,” was hired to serve as California’s first superintendent of equity, a capacity that he has served in since last summer where he pulls down a salary of “up to $179,832” despite a resume that “shows no prior experience in California or relationships with school districts in the state.”

Despite a pandemic, persistent concerns about inflation and empty shelves brought on by a supply chain crisis, the hard-left elements controlling the Biden administration remain fixated on establishing as policy that America is a racist nation — see critical race theory. Then again, such an effort follows the Democratic Party’s well-worn script of first declaring a crisis — in this case, painting America as a racist nation — to then implement radical changes to the system.
Under new Department of Health and Human Services rules, the administration will offer bonuses to doctors who “create and implement an anti-racism plan,” according to The Washington Free Beacon.

A third-party investigation is underway in a California city after two mask-wearing fire department paramedics allegedly refused to enter a rehab facility to render assistance to a man suffering cardiac arrest. About an hour later, the patient was tragically pronounced dead at a local hospital after being transported there.
An officer responding to the scene in Rialto, California, said on his bodycam, in footage obtained by Fox 11 Los Angeles through a freedom of information request, that the medics wouldn’t come inside because of some COVID-19-related rule, and that the patient, who reportedly wasn’t breathing pursuant to the 911 call, needed to be brought out to them.

The Biden administration thought it would be a good idea to use Pentatonix to urge Americans to get booster shots as COVID-19 cases rise due to the Omicron variant. A glance at social media Friday should have told them otherwise. The White House shared a video on Twitter of Pentatonix–an a cappella singing group that won the third season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off”–belting out a short jingle about boosters.(Snip)Half an hour after the White House tweeted its Pentatonix video, the Jonas Brothers–the Disney-boosted pop rock band of brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick–posted a TikTok video filmed at the White House.

In a recent op-ed, the New York Times demanded that all sports leagues shut down for “public health” over the fear of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
“It’s time to press pause on games, matches, and meets,” the Times piously exclaimed in its editorial. “If we’re genuinely interested in public health, genuinely invested in slowing the virus and saving lives, we need to look at the storm that has gathered and take shelter from it.
“Come back in February, or later,” the so-called “paper of record” advised.
The Times went on to suggest new policies for all sports leagues, including a long break followed by mask-wearing.

At a popular tourist haunt in Vienna, the handsome Afghan refugee in a blue denim shirt and shorts poses by the side of a bridge overlooking the riverboats on the Danube Canal. The picture of him looking relaxed and confident was taken last summer, just weeks before he became the prime suspect in a crime that has shocked Austria: the drugging, rape and suffocation of 13-year-old schoolgirl Leonie Walner, whose slim body was found wrapped in a roll of carpet dumped under a tree in central Vienna. Within hours of the terrible discovery, Rasuili Zubaidullah had run away, dodging Austrian police. He fled hundreds of miles to Dunkirk
