SAN FRANCISCO—On Wednesday, San Francisco Mayor London Breed made a fiery speech in response to recent increases in thefts and drug sales and use in the city, particularly in the Tenderloin, a notoriously gritty stretch residents say has had similar issues for decades. (Snip) The tough talk represented a stark reversal for Breed, who, shortly after the murder of George Floyd last year, stripped $120 million from the San Francisco Police Department to fund initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Black residents. The "root cause" is a defiant attitude toward God. Period. Love God with all your heart and soul and being and live your neighbor as yourself. There in is the fulfilment of the law. They hate God and everyone who loves Him and tries to obey. They reap what they sow. So do the rest of us.

For WGATEVER reason, some people are implacably violent and MUST be in prison. In most of the country people are free to arm themselves and protect themselves and loved ones from violent criminals. But, in large Dem cities, armed self defense is essentially illegal or literally illegal. If the "justice system " is broken from leftist stupidity, people die or are maimed, and have no alternatives.

I first went to SFO in 1959..went at least once or twice a year until sometime in the early 2000's..The Tenderloin was always sketchy and kept getting worse. always felt a connection to the city. my great, great grandfather and his brother were killed in the 1906 quake..were there from Ohio to make their fortune. and my son was almost born there...started having contractions..at 8 mo pg..not even supposed to be flying..long story there..Lol!! and made it back to Ohio in time to have him at the right time. It truly breaks my heart to know what it has become. such a beautiful city..gone to ruin.maybe someday..it can recover.

San Francisco voters put her in office based on promises of social equality and defunding the police. They got what they voted for so they should shut up already nd enjoy the fruits of their vote.

Exactly #3. In response to #8, the root cause you refer to might actually be (or not be in this case) the net result of what #3 refers to in a defiant attitude toward God. When a person truly believes in God, they will WANT to be obedient to God's ways.

There is a benefit for the criminal violence destroying SF....it shows how NOT to run a city. Maybe people will realize that defunding and demoralizing your police department will kill your city. The hardcore left won’t change their minds of course...they will always side with the criminals but maybe voters in other cities will wake up and come to their senses.

The train done left the station in SF. We live in the greater SF Bay Area. Last time we journeyed to Union Square, via BART (local metro system), we had to wend our way through drug addicts shooting up in the BART station, then through feces, aggressive panhandlers, and mentally unstable homeless wandering the streets on our two block walk. SF used to be a beautiful city. It has now become a Third World sh!thole. Thanks, Dims!!!

"... Breed, who, shortly after the murder of George Floyd last year, stripped $120 million from the San Francisco Police Department to fund initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Black residents." Is it just me or is it a bad outcome every time somebody does something to improve the lives of black residents? Maybe they should encourage black residents to improve their own lives and isolate them from society until they do? When every means to improve your life is already free there is no place to look but inside yourself. These loony left people in charge are slow on the uptake. Giving free tents and space to the homeless so they could live in the heart of the city and shoot their drugs, drop their feces and do what they please in public has been going on for decades in San Francisco. The homeless have been around since the Hippie Days of the 60s when every loser from across the country hitchhiked to San Francisco so they could live the jobless, responsibility-free life. San Francisco never did anything to stop it and now the COVID situation has brought it all to a head. Blacks are acting like little children who see free candy in every store and shiny things in everybody's pocket. Breed was just having a bad day and will soon fall back in line with her progressive betters. Defunding the police has now produced a need for "investment." Give me a break. Your problem goes far beyond money.

VATICAN CITY -The Vatican on Saturday warned conservative Roman Catholics who have balked at Pope Francis' decision to restrict the old traditionalist Latin Mass that they were sowing division and engaging in "sterile polemics". The Vatican department overseeing sacraments and liturgy issued a directive in response to bishops' requests for clarification following a document in July in which Francis overturned decisions by his two predecessors and tightened access to the Mass. Since July some conservatives, including bishops, have openly defied the pope, resulting in the latest chapter of what some have dubbed the Church's "liturgy wars". Religious conservatives in the
