Texas governor tells the U.N. to go 'pound sand'

Original Article

Posted By: PageTurner, 10/25/2021 7:57:27 AM

The United Nations, awash in greenie ideology, has decided that now would be a good time to horn in on the state of Texas's internal energy production. For its own good, of course: NEW YORK — The leader of the United Nations says Texas must end its reliance on oil and gas production to remain prosperous in the era of climate change. At a UN summit next month, world leaders will be asked to rapidly cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030. A vast increase in the production of renewable energy will be required to reach those targets.

Comments:

The governor used just the right words.

Tough words from a governor who doesn’t get out of the I-35 corridor much. The UN can relax. We are now surrounded by wind farms, our roads are trashed, and huge amounts of hydrocarbons have been expended for the greenie dreamers. Pretty soon, the offending green energy company will pack up and move on to the next rural community like the locusts they are leaving their war of the worlds machines looking down on your property.

Hey UN. Up your greenhouse gas emissions. Of all the Paris accord participants the only country to meet their targets was USA and we exceeded it with natural gas powered generators. I have no problem with green energy except that IT DOESN'T WORK when you really need it. Supplemental maybe but don't bet the farm on it.

Ah, the all wise UN knows what the economies of the world are wanting. Except they have no clue. Economies. i.e. consumers, are not driving the greenie economy. It is completely driven by Stalinist central goobernment planning. Forced mandates are not what consumers are wanting and needing. Green economy is destine to fail like all other Marxist/Leninist/Democrat mandates. Its like CNN. It forces leftist propaganda and its ratings show what consumers want. If you mandate it, they will leave!

And of course China and India will not have to comply. In fact did you read where China is back on track to build ten coal fired power plants per year for the next ten years. That's 100 coal fired plants. How much green house gases will that be? Who cares, It's China and that's ok. China is still a developing nation. But I think it's easy to see what exactly they are developing. They are developing an empire that no one would dare challenge. Taiwan be afraid. be very afraid.

Of the many things I hate about the left, the zero sum game is right up there. Why does it always have to be either-or with them? Why can’t we use it all? I think wind and solar are terrific, but they are known in the energy field as “the unreliables.” Anybody with a functioning brain cell can see that anything that relies on the weather for production is going to be hit or miss. Use it as supplemental power, but continue to use your reliable oil, coal and gas. Why is this so hard to grasp?

Speaking in Baltimore a day after Senate Republicans yet again blocked major legislation designed to secure access to the ballot box for all Americans, Biden expressed mounting frustration at the filibuster which effectively gives the conservative minority a stranglehold over large swathes of policy.

Illegal crossings began rising last year but skyrocketed in the months after President Biden took office. As CBP arrests increased this past spring, Biden described the rise as consistent with historical seasonal norms. But the busiest months came during the sweltering heat of July and August, when more than 200,000 migrants were taken into custody.
