To great public fanfare, Joe Biden has anointed Rachel Levine a “four-star admiral” in the Public Health Service (PHS). The public relations campaign in support of Levine has emphasized his status as the first transgender four-star “admiral” in the “eight U.S. uniformed services.” That PR campaign is misleading, and it is part of a dangerous effort to undermine the military.(snip) This roll-out and publicity barrage leave little doubt that Levine’s primary qualification for his instant promotion is his transgender status. What’s worse, it will damage U.S. military recruitment and morale, thus damaging U.S. national security.

Lucas correctly refers to Levine as “he”.
The administration’s publicity campaign seeking to present Levine as an accomplished four-star admiral is a fraud, particularly coupled with the references to all the uniformed services, as if they are somehow comparable. Although now designated as an “admiral,” Levine commands no sailors, no submarines, and no ships. At least the admiral managing the NOAA has ships and aircraft to command.
Unlike Navy admirals, Levin did not become an admiral after decades of service, including overseas deployments, time away from family, and the hazards that accompany military service. Nor did he attend Annapolis or any other service academy, or even Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) or officer candidate school. He was never an ensign, lieutenant, commander, captain, or even a vice admiral.
Levine now outranks battlefield generals (Patton was only a three-star during the Battle of the Bulge) and other well-known senior officers.
This kind of political rank is absurd and should be done away with. Pronto.

I was trained by WWII men that had been thru hell and back and I never heard one complain about their superiors.
Orders were given and carried out to the best of their ability.
I fear for the men and women serving the country today filled with political appointed officers that could not identify the enemy outside of a country club.

Rank inflation from a "Military" perspective, but from those that serve in the Federal Govt, and have for most of their careers, how must THEY feel about someone who never worked "Federal" being elevated higher than any GS ranked individual in History. Picture a lifelong career PHS or Naval officer with half a dozen gold slashes on her sleeve holding the door for this man who has NONE. For instance...https://www.militarynews.com/norfolk-navy-flagship/news/navy-s-first-female-aircraft-carrier-command-master-chief-retires/article_e06885f6-af10-5799-a0fb-bdade26e73a2.html
PS: How old is this "admiral"? One of the caveats of the Rank is that they MUST retire within one month following their 64th Birthday.
PPS: Pretty sure there were plenty of JAG officers 'miffed' when both of the young Bidens were initiated as Officers outranking them, even though they had ZERO military training or service, and both had to be granted special dispensations as they were already too OLD to even enlist.

Wow, this is a story that needed to be reported. I'm not interested in Rachel Levine so I just read the headlines, assuming he/she was a real military officer. I"m sure most every did the same. It turns out that he/she is just a bureaucrat in something called the Public Health Service. Has anyone else heard of this? As the author points out, this was just a PR stunt and it suggests that our real military services are appointing transgenders to high positions. Not true, at least not yet.

Levine won its Admiral bars on the battlefield of abortion and LGBTQ / transgender rights. In Democrat's mind, that is a more dangerous, deserving battle than any real military service. Also remember that Levine will never ever be remembered for anything that he/she may accomplish. He/she will only be remembered for being transgender.

Thanks to the person who posted this article.
I knew Dr. Levine was not a biological woman, but did not know our "first female Four Star Admiral" in the US Public Health Service is not, and never was a part of our US military.
But for this article, I would have continued to assume "uniformed services" and "four star" and "admiral" referred to the standing an individual achieved over time, by serving many years in the US military.
Since this is not the case, I'm wondering if there's anything less than four stars given to an "admiral" in the USPHS. Or do all of the "admirals" start out with four stars?

The ugly looking man playing female dress up with a five-o'clock shadow is not a great image to portray in a U.S. Navy uniform. Is an ensign required to salute that loony toon? I want to know. FJB

#24, AFAIK, there are all the USN ranks associated with the Public Health Service. This goes back a century or more when sailing ships meant that communications was very, very slow, so public health officials wanted some sort of 'credentials', and managed to wrangle their fake uniforms, pretending to be USN officers.
I have known about this for much of my life, since many in my family were USN officers. I always thought this was a stupid relic......that was pretty dim when it was first created, to begin with.

I fear a lot more pain is coming to western civilization's premier security agency AKA the US military.
The commies will drive out much of it's heart and soul with the Vaxx scam, and when China makes it's move, leaked classified info and traditional demorat military stupidity [see Vn war etc.] will place much of the remainder in harm's way to little effect, to cheers from our enemies: the media, academia and all their running dogs.

Re #24, this position and the Surgeon General of the United States have this rank. It is not Navy. I believe the SG’s is Coast Guard, as that is where the SG tradition began. But that’s from memory, so feel free to fact check. These people are not part of our armed services.

OK. Here we go:
The United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned
Corps is one of the nation’s eight uniformed services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, NOAA Corps, USPHS, and Space Force) and we are the only one dedicated solely to protecting America’s public health. As Public Health Service officers and America’s Health Responders, we also stand ready to preserve the health and safety of our nation during national or global health emergencies.
The USPHS Commissioned Corps has a history that dates back over two centuries. On July 16, 1798, the Fifth Congress passed an Act, signed by President John Adams, providing for the care and medical treatment of merchant seamen and thus began the story of the Public Health Service. From the USPHS Commissioned Corps’ work along coastal waters to a focus on the migration of diseases that spread inland, the Service began to grow its public health expertise and professionalism. On January 4, 1889, Congress created the U.S. Public Health Service in response to a shortage of health care providers in the Marine Hospital Service
(to be renamed the Public Health Service in 1912)

He’s not in the US Navy. The article is pointing out that he’s not in the armed forces at all, only in something called the Public Health Service. The title Admiral is given to top bureaucrats. It has nothing to do with Navy admirals.

This little weirdo and his liking to play dress-up. My two bits say that’s as far as he probably went with this. He is a transvestite. Now he has an admiral’s uniform. So much for Joebama-style “equity”.
