Scientists are working to create a vaccine that could combat of all types of coronaviruses in an effort to potentially prevent the next pandemic. The La Jolla Institute for Immunology, in San Diego, California, has received a $2.6 million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to work on their ambitious project to potentially prevent future pandemics. Researchers believe they could build on the research and development used to create the current crop of COVID-19 vaccines to prevent other similar viruses.(Snip)'Rather than having to constantly launch new vaccines… we need a single vaccine that's going to protect against SARS-CoV-2 variants and whatever

Comments:

Can the government create enough modified viruses to fuel demand, or are they ready and awaiting release from a wet market or some superspreader event?

Good luck. Coronaviruses like this one mutate so fast that it is next to impossible to come up with an omnipotent vaccine. Besides, if you can cure it with one shot, Big Pharma can't keep raping taxpayers forever. We can't have that.

It would be nice if they could make a real vaccine for just ONE type of coronavirus first, before they try to invent one that works on every kind. The "common cold' can be either a rhinovirus or a coronavirus. (there are a couple of others as well but mostly they are Rhino or Corona)... How many hundred years have they been working UNSUCCESSFULLY for a vaccine to cure any version of the common cold???? And yet Fauci and his Co-conspirators think they are going to quickly come up with on that will cure them all at once? Fauci promised to come up with a cure for AIDS 35 years ago... How''s that coming along?

If your 'vaccine' were to be effective on Day One, by six months to a year, it would be far less effective as the virus mutates via copying errors.

This is what happens when liberals and swamp parasites ignore history. Viruses mutate kiddies, so there is no way you can come up with anything that will wipe it out. Not ever. They can't even come up with a normal flu vaxx jab that will do the job.

Maybe they should experiment with a Theragen derivative. Theragen, a nerve gas developed by the Klingons, is deadly in its pure form; but, mixed with alcohol, temporarily deadens certain nerve inputs to the brain, causing a calming effect on an insane or abnormally enraged person. It may not cure Covid; but I'd test it on people suffering from TDS. With thanks to Memory Alpha for the helpful info on this promising treatment.

Not all viruses mutate rapidly like the Wuhan virus does. There are two classes of viruses, defined by the ways that viruses store their genetic information. DNA and RNA. In living creatures, DNA is used because it has a built in 'backup copy' with the double strands. And DNA repair enzymes in cells will fix damaged DNA by using the backup copy strand to rebuild the damaged section. Smallpox is an example of a DNA virus which is very stable over long time periods, like a century, so that vaccines to it remain effective for a lifetime. The Wuhan virus (and probably other coronaviruses, I haven't looked it up) use RNA to store their genetic information rather than DNA. RNA is single stranded, and is easily mis-copied during viral replication, or is easily damaged and not repairable like double stranded DNA, so any damage is permanent, again because of no second strand backup copy available as a basis for repair. So, RNA viruses accumulate errors, or mutations, rapidly, which is why the idea of making 'vaccines' for this Wuhan virus were ALWAYS a fool's errand, and were compounded by the way they were made.....which is toxic. Note that we have NO common cold vaccines, even after decades of want them. The rate of mutation of the cold viruses makes it pointless to try. This should have been obvious from the start for the Wuhan virus. DNA viruses can have vaccines made which should work for decades or longer because the virus's genetic material is very stable over time. Two classes of viruses, two different paths that they move down, and two different effectivenesses for vaccines to each kind.
