Are We Entering
a New Political Era?

Original Article

Last June, when most Americans could agree that their country was in crisis but few could agree on what to do about it, staffers from a small organization called Justice Democrats—part of a burgeoning faction of young activists whose goal is to push the Democratic Party, and thus the entire political spectrum, to the left—joined a gathering on the patio of a restaurant in Yonkers, overlooking the Hudson.

Comments:

Where is the "conservative" equivalent to these Justice Democrats? Where is the badly needed new generation with ideas to improve America within conservative principles? Where are the necessary influencers? I haven't seen any such effort.

The Democrats are already to the left of the communists. I don't see how they can go any further left. They control everything, right into your house, bedroom, and kitchen.

I am always fascinated when I see someone admiring the Left and wondering why (other) Conservatives don’t DO SOMETHING!!! Perhaps he could share examples of things he has done - what ideas he has put forth to improve America within conservative principles and how he did it….?

Given what we know about America today and how it is no longer the country any of us were born in, I’m surprised at how little discussion there is about leaving. Do people genuinely think a country that has abandoned the rule of law can survive intact? Is this the place you want to spend the rest of your life...or are you optimistic that we can return to the Founders’ America? Please chime in.

Insane young leftists, in the fantasy that there actually is MMGW are working hard to literally destroy the country. I hope they fail. But to the extent that they move outside of politics, we may see some real push towards that civil war that has been seemingly wanted by the leftist crazies.

Acknowledging that "conservatives find ourselves at a crossroads," former House Speaker Paul Ryan sought to map out a vision for the Republican Party in the post-Donald Trump era. In an address Thursday night at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, Ryan credited Trump for bringing "many new voters into our party" but said Republicans have to face a reality. "If the conservative cause depends on the populist appeal of one personality, or of second-rate imitations, then we're not going anywhere," Ryan said.

Nearly one in 10 U.S. police departments have access to videos from millions of privately owned Amazon Ring devices. Ring's Active Agency Map shows the home security camera company now has partnerships with more than 1,800 police departments in the U.S. out of nearly 18,000 total departments across the country. The company's "Neighbors" app notifies Ring users when neighbors or local law enforcement agencies send out public safety alerts. "We built Neighbors for our customers, not law enforcement, and users must opt-in to share videos on a per-request basis..."

There’s a reason we need a free press, despite its faults and foibles: Democracy won’t work without it. The grand experiment in self-governance that is the United States is rooted in trust and confidence we all will work toward the greater good. But the nation’s founders had experience with a king and his expected benevolence — and what could happen when things didn’t work out.

For the third time in less than 30 hours, four justices on the state Supreme Court dealt President Donald Trump a setback Friday, saying they wouldn't accept a lawsuit by Trump allies who wanted to let Republican lawmakers instead of voters decide how to cast the state's electoral votes. As with two decisions Thursday, Friday's ruling was 4-3, with conservative Justice Brian Hagedorn joining the court's liberals to rebuff the president as he seeks to take away Democrat Joe Biden's narrow win of the state. "The relief being sought by the petitioners is the most dramatic invocation of judicial power I have ever seen," Hagedorn wrote.

Now, the neighborhood's location within walking distance of the Fiserv Forum and related projects has put its housing in high demand and led to a sharp rise in property taxes. In recent decades, the adjacent Brewers Hill neighborhood experienced gentrification, with longtime residents pushed out as property values skyrocketed due to demand from wealthier buyers who moved in, resulting in higher tax bills for all.

In his controversial new book on the 2020 election, Battle For The Soul: Inside the Democrats' Campaigns to Defeat Donald Trump. Edward-Isaac Dovere repeats a canard that has become something of a staple of Democratic mythology. (snip) Obama, writes Dovere, "would never forgive [Trump] for turning a fringe obsession with his birth certificate into an issue he'd had to address from the White House briefing room in 2011." Dovere errs on several counts. Trump was not the one who turned the birth certificate into an issue. Obama was.
