Cynthia Nixon has been slammed for suggesting CVS should let people steal from stores rather than locking up goods like laundry detergent. The former actress and failed New York gubernatorial candidate tweeted on Thursday that she had noticed her local CVS in SoHo had 'started' locking up 'basic items like clothing detergent.' 'As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them,' Nixon tweeted. She was slammed by people who said the solution was not to invite theft.

FTA: 'As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them' From her perspective "the problem" of theft might seem trivial. But a rational business owner has no duty to supply "basic necessities" to people who feel entitled to steal them. Rational community leaders understand that without access to merchandise in neighborhood stores, the "desperate" thieves will find basic necessities even further out of reach just as soon as merchants leave for safer areas.

Yes, this is the insanity of lie-beral "logic". Of course, like clockwork, when all the CVS drug stores in high crime areas (otherwise known as high POC areas) shut down because they are loosing money to all the thefts, she will be using that same lie-beral "logic" to decry how racist CVS is for shutting down those same stores.

CVS could put everything behind a counter (with bullet-proof glass), and make the customers pay before handing them their purchases. Of course, that won't stop the thugs from mugging the customers or employees as they leave the store. Bottom line, the most rational decision is to just close the store and walk away.

"Basic necessities" my a**. They also steal small high value stuff like razor blade refills. These get sold at flea markets later. It's unconscionable to say people should be allowed to steal whatever they want. Making excuses just drives crime up. The left has been excusing blacks for years and inferring that they have a right to do whatever they want because they were oppressed by slavery or suffer from endemic racism. It's no wonder that black people feel entitled to steal and murder. Look at the horrendous spikes in violent crime in our cities. The chickens have now come home to the roost.

In CA, where you have to hit a $950 limit before police can be called for a shoplifting, it is NOT desperate people who do most of the theft. It is professional mobsters who hire people and hand them a very specific shopping list to steal so as to stay under their $950 limit each. They do this all day long to any store that stays open there. Walgreen's is pretty close to leaving CA completely. CVS should be following them out of CA. Unless, someone like Cynthia is going to make them whole for all the theft.

Of all the reactions to Paul Ryan’s speech Thursday at the Reagan Library in California, I thought the funniest was the one titled “Paul Ryan Begins to Re-emerge.” I found that idea funny because the speech I heard signaled the opposite: not burgeoning “re-emergence” on to the political stage but, on the contrary, an almost comical confirmation of obscurity. Ryan is a careful man, well-pressed, armed with all the best clichés, and utterly feckless. He salted his talk with plenty of gems calculated to appeal to conservatives. He appealed early and often to the ghost of Ronald Reagan—understandable given the auspices of his talk.

It’s not an accident that most Americans are just starting to hear about the lab leak theory of COVID-19 origin as a potential legitimate source for the global pandemic’s outbreak. It’s because the theory was suppressed for more than a year by corporate media fact-checkers and their allies in Big Tech. The pages of The New York Times and The Washington Post have been filled with articles in recent weeks about the newfound potential legitimacy of the lab-leak theory. The theory posits that COVID-19 was accidentally released from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, potentially after being genetically engineered as a part of “gain-of-function” research.Evidence for the lab-leak theory has

Speech, especially the fight to control the speech of others, is also about power. How else to describe Facebook’s ban on users sharing the claim the COVID-19 virus came from a Chinese lab? The sudden lifting of the ban, following a White House plan to investigate the pandemic’s cause, only underscores the social media giant’s desire to restrict users’ speech. The EEOC’s rules also gave the green light to companies offering incentives as a means of encouraging staffers to get vaccinated,

An explosive new study claims that Chinese scientists created COVID-19 in a Wuhan lab, then tried to cover their tracks by reverse-engineering versions of the virus to make it look like it evolved naturally from bats. The paper's authors, British Professor Angus Dalgleish and Norwegian scientist Dr. Birger Sørensen, wrote that they have had 'prima facie evidence of retro-engineering in China' for a year - but were ignored by academics and major journals. Dalgleish is a professor of oncology at St George's University, London, and is best known for his breakthrough creating the first working 'HIV vaccine', to treat diagnosed patients and allow them to go off medication for months.
