Paul Ryan criticizes Donald Trump
and his hold on the Republican Party
in speech mapping out vision
for conservatives

Original Article

Acknowledging that "conservatives find ourselves at a crossroads," former House Speaker Paul Ryan sought to map out a vision for the Republican Party in the post-Donald Trump era. In an address Thursday night at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, Ryan credited Trump for bringing "many new voters into our party" but said Republicans have to face a reality. "If the conservative cause depends on the populist appeal of one personality, or of second-rate imitations, then we're not going anywhere," Ryan said.

Comments:

The GOPe/UNIPARTY wing speaks. If only... If only Ryan hadn't forfeited the '18 Congressional elections there would have been no Speaker Peolosi or impeachments. There would have been no Biden-Harris...or any of the rest. Speaker Ryan will always be remembered for "resigning" without leaving, although one wonders whether Speaker McCarthy would have been an improvement. He has no "moral authority" to speak about Republican unity.

Donald Trump advanced & enacted the most conservative (and successful) presidential agenda since Reagan and has handed the GOP a once in a generation lifeline which too many stupid republicans are using to hang themselves. Ryan can join the rest of the RINO brigade including Chris Christie, Liz Cheney, Romney, Flake and the limp-wristed pseudo-conservative pedophiles of the Lincoln Project on the one way bus to political oblivion. Bye, bye ladies!

FTA: "the populism of President Trump in action, tethered to conservative principles" You get partial credit for that. Paul, now what does that tell you? .....Ok I'll help. That tells you the lack of conservative principles is the reason that the GOP hasn't been popular. We have been faced with choosing between those driving a rapid transformation, to socialism and those taking a slower pace. We don't want to be socialist, we want our freedom. Freedom is popular you dunce and you are not.

Paul Ryan has no future in the Republican Party, no followers, and no support. I hardly think he would be a choice to state a vision for the future of the Republican Party. Those that invited him to the Reagan library, and gave him a platform, also do not represent the Republican Party, nor do they represent the views of Ronald Reagan, who said government is not your friend. If Reagan were alive today, I think he would add that business is not your friend either, after all the wokeness.

If Paul Ryan's vision for how Conservatives should do things worked so great actually worked, he would be Speaker of the House and Republicans would still control Congress. Unfortunately, under Paul Ryan, Republicans were weak and spineless and lost any vision of being conservative. They, as usual, once in power became go along to get along country club pals with the Democrats and got walked all over to the point of being ineffective and weak. They were no longer Republicans or Conservative. If Paul Ryan had a spine or ounce of conviction he would be supporting Donald Trump. Paul Ryan could learn a lot from Donald Trump. You don't need to like Trump's style, but you have to love his results!

Republicans had a roughly 40-seat majority in the House under Ryan, and got very little done - even with the Senate and White House in Republican hands. In contrast the Dems ram through every left-wing fairy tale piece of legislation with only a tiny majority in the House and a 50-50 Senate. Ryan and his ilk are losers.

#29, all you say is very accurate, until the end. You assume that Evil Ryan WANTED to accomplish things that conservative voters want, and "lost". No, he was a traitor, put in place, just like Boehner to BLOCK conservative laws by pretending to be a "hard working conservative with bad luck". No, he was a Uniparty traitor, and he was totally successful at blocking much of Trump's agenda in the House, even with a strong Republican majority. Traitors are everywhere, huge numbers used to pretend to be conservatives to sabotage things from the inside. Many in politics and the 'commentariat' have been outed and no longer are listened to. Many who I used to read, I will not longer bother with.....Max Boot, Mona Charen, Jonah Goldberg, George Will, Bill Krystol, and a huge long list of more folks who Trump has uncovered as not actually being conservatives, just playing one. I still say that, in the long run, one of Trump's most valuable services to the country will be his massive unmasking of the huge number of fake conservatives who were holding things back on the political side and the commentator side.
