In Times Square, the most densely tourist-populated place in the United States, a mentally disturbed man known as Mr. Kim begs cops to kill him. 'I want to die. You have a gun? Shoot,' he pleads. After the officers demur, he picks up a plank of wood and starts smashing it against the Pele soccer shop.On Sutton Place, one of the most affluent residential areas in the city, a lone man squats on the sidewalk, intently reading a paperback novel next to a shopping cart that contains his worldly goods. He begs for cash with a sign saying he has lost everything. 'Trying to survive,' it adds.

It was a steaming pile before, and now an even bigger steaming pile.

Remember the same media that claims Biden's glory tuned it's craft on NYC, the gleaming Metropolis.

The ship has turned - over. Tourists still go there? They are just as crazy as New Yorkers. With all of the beauty this country has to offer, why would you go into that horrible ghetto? de Blasio's mind is gone and the governor is a dishonest, murdering pervert.

Once the ship sinks, perhaps they can turn it into a NY memorial, much like the Arizona.

The liberal curse of destruction of anything they touch is wrapped up in their dogma. They are zealots who believe the things they are saying. Reasonable people cringe and can’t believe that there are people who actually believe their garbage. It takes a weak mind to just go along and most will just go along to be accepted into their club. I don’t understand the draw of these people. Most are corrupt, depraved, and are nothing but bullies. They have a wide totalitarian bent and are not afraid to use it. They just aren’t nice people. I would not travel to any democrat run city right now and have no plans to in the future. I don’t enjoy being in their company. I ave less desire to be on their turf and don’t want them on mine.

It's all about perspective, isn't it? One man's hellhole is another man's kingdom. I know I was right to never desire or actually visit NYC.

Homelessness, crime and mental illness. That about sums up the results of liberal, leftist policies. Along with drugs, looting, burning, assaults, hate and racism. Why do people keep electing these demoncrat politicians, when they know what the results will be? The ship has turned, huh? Looks like to me that it is sinking. Same with San Francisco, Chicago and everywhere else where leftists rule.

How is it that homeless people can afford cigarettes at what, $7 per pack at least? And the woman sitting smoking is, of course, smoking weed. How does she pay for it?
I lived in NYC part time in the late 60’s - early 70’s and the only area where one saw this kind of grotesquery was on The Bowery, way way way downtown. It was mostly winos passed out after a night of drinking. But back then the mayor was a Republican.
Other than seeing the sights, tourists also go to NYC for the high end shopping on Fifth Avenue - Tiffany, Cartier, Prada, Armani, etc. BLM emptied those stores last year about this time. Does anyone believe that they will ever reopen? Broadway theaters are all in the Times Square area - who is going to risk their own safety to see a show? The city is dead - the population just doesn’t know it yet.

Just another foreign newspaper showing the world what goes on in the leftist and liberal Democrat run big American cities. That misleading view of the whole of America is certainly going to deter a huge number of tourists from visiting those cities.

And governor cuomo continues to spend the taxpayer's money on his estate and reap the profits from his book about how wonderful he is....talk about chutzpah...the liberal democrats broke Detroit for 50 years and now cry about the conditions that make Detroit uninhabitable ...and chicago is going the way of dead cities...am I allowed to use that term...God forbids WE should use an accurate term for what WE are feeling...

Tourist? Tourist really do go there, for what? Braving the possibility they could be mugged, robbed or even murdered what could the attraction be? Are liberals so naïve to believe it is the shining jewel from past history like the end of WWII with a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square or John Lennon's Strawberry Fields Forever in Central Park. It could be they believe it is the real Hollywood movie set from Escape From New York sort of like Philadelphia is for Rocky, New York is for 'Snake' with Kurt Russel. I don't know but Time Square was pretty sleazy for this Army recruit in 1968 so was Philadelphia they have definitely changed for the worse. Oh well maybe the most iconic picture of recent New York is it's mayor dancing with his wife on New Years Eve during the pandemic, wearing their masks while an the police look on. The odious mayor trying to portray New York as normal.

When Cuomo added "No Bail Reform" to NY, it was the final nail in the coffin. Criminals rule in NYC, they are embolden and they prove it everyday. When DeBlazio allowed the cops to be pummeled by these criminals without arrest, it gave them the green light to commit more crimes. When you have BLM leaders say, if someone wants to steal a Gucci bag or loot, it's reparations or within their right to do so, AND Authorities do not fight back, they are doomed. But liberals are too stupid to see what is in front of them, their minds are distorted and lack the ability to face reality.

FTA: "Of course, most of the homeless are harmless. They have just fallen on hard times either through losing a job"
We have just found the bald face lie at the source of this problem. Perpetuating that lie is what has enabled this human disaster. Arrests, clear the streets, don't allow this to be a viable option. It's done most everywhere else.

I'm with poster 13. I grew up in Brooklyn and most of my early working years were in Manhattan: late 60's through the 70s, with Mayors, Lindsay and Beame. Even in those dark years I never saw anything like those current pictures.

This is what liberalism looks like. And NewYorkers mainly think they’re special and way smarter than the rest of the Country. There’s certainly no evidence of it. This is what they voted for.

From the article:
But Tom, in from Pittsburgh with his teenage daughter Liberty, said he found the marijuana sales contributed to the culture shock he was feeling. 'It's just filthy and people are just here asking me for money. I see people talking to themselves and yelling and angry.'
As he spoke, a topless woman came crashing down on to a table in front of him. 'At least it's refreshing to be here and see people not worrying about the pandemic,' Tom, 58, joked.
No longer fun city - now what a mess city - nice job there cuomo and delbasio - really fine job.

This garbage dump is not coming back anytime soon and that's probably for the best. It was never the best place to visit, dirty, overpriced, dangerous and home to the most rude people on the planet. Good riddance.
