The National Trust for Historic Preservation filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump and federal agencies on Dec. 12 over the ballroom construction project at the White House.(snip)The National Trust describes itself in the complaint as a private, charitable, educational nonprofit corporation that Congress chartered in 1949. Its purpose is “to further the historic preservation policy of the United States and to promote the public’s awareness of and ability to comment on any activity that might damage or destroy our nation’s architectural heritage.” The trust has filed preservation lawsuits against several presidential administrations, the complaint said.

The media has a short memory (or none at all). Truman stripped the interior of the WH to redecorate and bring it up to date.
Of course, this is now a done deal and they can bring all the lawsuits that they want. If you donate to the National Trust for Historic Preservation which seems to be some arm of the left now, tell them why you will no longer give.

Is some Democrat activist Judge going to decide what is built, and hire Democrat aligned non-governmental organizations (NGOS) to build it using taxpayers money?

The legislation for the trust explicitly excluded the White House, the capitol, and the Supreme Court from overview by the trust. They do both have a case

While Truman had the white house work done, he and Mrs. Truman stayed at the Blair House.
And one morning, Puerto Rican nationalists got into a fun battle with the Secret Service in front of the Blair House, and Truman came out on the balcony, in jockey shorts, to see what was happening.
Decades later, Bill Clinton pardoned the puerto rican nationalists, right before hillary ran for the U.S. senate seat for NY. It was a mere coincidence.

The same kind of nutjobs running the local preservation group that told the homeowner who hired me that he could not remove a dead 100-foot eucalyptus tree because it was part of the history of the 100-year-old house! It was definitely a hazard ready to fall!

Where were they when the bowling Alley was installed or Obummer built a Basketball court... It seems a $300,000,000 ballroom would be a little more acceptable than the those projects previously mentioned.

If Trump had called the new building a multicultural gathering space to further international understanding and peace, instead of a ballroom, bet the Historic Trust would have thought it was a wonderful idea.

When they lose they should be forced to pay all court costs.
Perhaps next they will sue because Trump's hair isn't as orange as it used to be.

I don't remember a peep when Obama had the White House lawn dug up to insert a new underground bunker to protect his sorry butt in the event of a direct attack. Michelle added to the outrage with her gaslighting vegetable garden.

I have heard that several buildings in Washington, D.C. are expected from getting a “mother may i” from any of these organizations to make changes to them and the White House is one of them. This addition to the White House is long overdue.
I believe the historic necessity of having to hold large state receptions in a large tent on the lawn with port a potty toilet facilities is not worth preserving.
