President Donald Trump’s tasteless comments following the apparent murder of Hollywood legend Rob Reiner on Sunday showed that the president, at least on that occasion, had a speck in his eye.
Before criticizing Trump, however, liberals should make sure to remove the logs from their own eyes. (Matthew 7:3)
Recall, for instance, that a swarm of liberals, including Reiner himself, once greeted news of the late conservative media icon Rush Limbaugh’s cancer diagnosis — and later Limbaugh’s death — with politically-motivated heartlessness. “Only one thing to say about Rush Limbaugh getting a Presidential Medal if Freedom at The State of the Union: I loathe this *****g man,” Reiner wrote

There is no defending his tacky postings. A mother and father were brutally murdered by their drug addict son. We say RIP and what a horrible thing. Period.
Add to that just decency on our part, He is the President. We are going to be stopped in our tracks if we lose the midterms. We cannot afford stupid errors like this that serve NO purpose at all. It made me exasperated when he did this. I voted for him 3 times and I would vote for him again. He needs a filter person on his social media. He never stops.

Yeah, sorry, but we are supposed to behave like the adults in the room. Maybe it's just a Christian thing but there but for the grace of Almighty God go us all. Empathy is not hard to have in this circumstance.
Reiner had a big mouth. We all know that. He said some truly horrible things. He promoted destructive policies. He used his clout as a bully pulpit and had no issue with the Left using censorship and prosecution to shut up those he disagreed with.
And yet EVEN WITH THAT his and his wife's gruesome murder at the hands of their own adult son whom I am sure they did everything in their power (which was considerable) to save from himself... I can think of little worse than that. I pray they are at peace now. And can we just leave it there, please.

Maybe as Trump gets older, his "appropriateness" filter is running down. Someone needs to make him aware of this and he needs to be extra vigilant. Everything needs to be perfect so we hold on to Congress...

We hate how the Left speaks, posts, and acts. It disappoints and shames us all when Trump lowers himself in the same manner. We have mid-terms to win. This did NOT help. Please post a message on the White House website to make this clear - I have.

This is not the first time he has behaved in an uncouth and boorish manner. I've come to expect it. I dont even cringe much anymore. All that said, theres not much we can say when the communists do the same.

Trump is an honest man. It's hard for an honest man to say anything good about a piece of scum like Reiner.

Reiner was a vicious, rotten, hateful person. That he directed some good movies.....so what? He did NOT write them, and IMO a director is a second rate skill compared to a writer who creates the story.

I agree that Trump really needs a filter between him and Truth Social and should not have said what he did about Reiner. This article however is very true noting the massive amount of nasty things said about Trump and other noted conservatives by leftists including Reiner. Better for Trump to stand above all the cursing and name calling and let his supporters like those on this site take care of answering the left.

For yet another not-so-flattering retrospective on Reiner, Scott Adams (from his own hospital bed, as tumors have paralyzed him from the waist down in the last week) noted that Reiner had assisted "Deep State" officials (Brennan and Clapper) by producing a video for them to push the "Russia hoax" narrative. Adams opined that Reiner must have known that it actually was a hoax, and that makes Reiner complicit with an attempt to overthrow a sitting U.S. President.
Casts a bit of a different pall upon the man's memory, doesn't it? And Trump, knowing of Reiner's involvement in this, would and should take it quite personally and react differently to it. It's one thing to be "Presidential"... but there's no reason to be "Presidential" to the memory of people who were working on a coup to remove you from office.

Im perfectly happy to give Trump a pass here. Riener had a full blown stage 4 case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, he also had Bush Derangement Syndrome. He fundraiser for democrats, funded them, conspired with them, hobnobbed with them and enabled them. He slandered Trump and republicans in general at every opportunity. I was perfectly happy to keep my opinions to myself regarding Reiners murder and keep it clean. But attacking Trump for stating what's been obvious for years causes me to break my silence. Does anyone here believe for a second that "the meathead" wouldn't be throwing a party had Trump been assassinated?? Anyone?
Stop with the self righteous crocodile tears. Reiner didn't deserve to be slaughtered. Nor does he deserve sainthood. He was a good director and a despicable leftist. Both statements can be true.

Oh baloney - I don't mind anything Trump has to say about Reiner. This turn the other cheek business doesn't always work and at times should stop. W did it all the time and it drove us crazy. Trump is his own man. He's been denigrated by the so called 'stars' in Hollywood for years. They sure don't bite their tongues. Neither should President Trump.

Immensely talented guy, but also a poster child for why Hollywood types should stay out of politics
Had the Reiners lived, they had dinner plans with the Obamas
The man was consumed by TRD- why?
It’s almost as if the Meathead from All In The Family was not an act, but was truly Rob Reiner

I can only say that Reiner seems to have been eaten up with hatred because of politics. He surely could not have been a happy person. To me, it's not worth it hating anyone or anything that much.

We've become a society that has to have everything sugar-coated. It may be hard to hear of President Trump's remarks but he was asked - at least that is my understanding. Rob Reiner suffered from TDS greatly and made no bones about it. Rob Reiner's anger wasn't just kept to himself - he spread the anger anywhere he went. . .

By the way, it is not mine to judge. How about the naysayers here brush off their own doorstep. The vitriol aimed at President Trump by the haters has to be emotionally chaotic. . .

Has no one stopped to wonder why Reiner was to meet with Barack Obama? Of course, it would feed Obama's constant need to rub shoulders with celebrities. But Reiner had lots of money to pour into politics and to fund nefarious plots like Russian collusion, for example. Dems have to be cooking up more than just a "don't obey illegal orders" video by six seditious Democrats. There is probably more of well-done propaganda coming in time for the mid-term elections.

I read an article that expressed Trump just told the truth. I read another about Reiner's big dive into politics (and taxpayer funded org) wherein it was. said that he "lost time with his family and lost time with movie making." I would say perhaps therein lies the rub. His son definitely needed attention.
