President Trump defended White House chief of staff Susie Wiles in an exclusive interview with The Post Tuesday — saying she was right to tell Vanity Fair he has an “alcoholic’s personality” and that he has full faith in Wiles to continue in her role. Trump, 79, reiterated that he avoids alcohol, saying in the interview he has a “possessive and addictive type personality” and that he wasn’t offended by her word choice. “No, she meant that I’m — you see, I don’t drink alcohol. So everybody knows that — but I’ve often said that if I did, I’d have a very good chance of being an alcoholic.

I don't know about "alcoholic", but I'd agree with "volatile". I don't see that as a bad thing in him.

He has alcoholism in the family. So he chose to not ever drink. THAT strikes me as a very, very smart and disciplines approach to life.

Why would anyone expect her to have good judgement? Did VF pay he for the interviews?

I believe Trump lost a brother to alcoholism. I can relate to Trump's attitude regarding alcohol. My grandfather was a recovering alcoholic. I've always been careful about alcohol and stayed away from drugs.

Consider there are probably millions of recovering alcoholics in the country, Trump likely gained another constituency from this. May the VF article backfire against the left like did the Epstein files brouhaha.

The alleged outrage over the VF article is jyst another media driven storm to try to make Trump (and Wiles) look bad. Trump is clearly not an alcoholic but the actual description of his actions and how he handles things seems accurate. And that is not bad. It accurately describes Trump as someone who thinks he can do anything. He fears no boundaries. That is a good thing. He is not limited by fear of what might be possible. He is what this country needs.

#6, that is correct. The President's brother, Fred Trump Jr., died of a heart attack linked to alcoholism in 1981. He was only 42 years old. The President swore off alcohol from that day forward.

This Susie Wiles has to fired…has to! Since it’s the holiday season, maybe wait until January 2nd. Her extremely poor judgement, eleven interviews with a magazine such as Vanity Fair, clearly warrants it.

For one thing, President Trump shares a trait with my late best friend: hypomania. Because his brother Fred lost a battle with alcohol, the president doesn't drink. Or do drugs. But he is hypomanic (which isn't a bad thing). It enables him to do much more than ordinary people. I know I couldn't keep up with him.

Trump is approaching this as the "adult in the room" that he is. Her description of his “alcoholic’s personality” is that he thinks he can do anything he decides to. I have followed Donald J Trump for 50 years. Betting against him isn't smart, specifically BECAUSE he follows through and does things most people would not even dream. Before DJT there has NEVER been a President with no political background whatsoever. He didn't do what a normal man would do.... Get elected Mayor, then move up to Governor or Congressman, then Senate, then run for President. NOPE. Right to President. Her description is SPOT ON. The media chooses to present it without context as an insult. It is a COMPLIMENT.

I have had alcoholics in family (father, 2 uncles) which is why I gave it up.
It reminds me of a quote by Robert E. Lee who said, "I love whiskey, I always have. It's why I never drink it".
It could be that DJT sees the danger and wisely abstains.

There is something very odd about this story. Wiles has been hyped as this super smart political guru who doesn’t like to be in the spotlight. Then she does this? She knows what Vanity Fair is and what they were after. And she gave it to them. Why.

I don't understand what Ms. Wiles hoped to gain by granting this interview. VF audience isn't exactly MAGA.

Poster #3, I totally get the use of the word "alcoholic" in this context. I had several alcoholics in my family, and I have often said that if I drank, I would be an alcoholic because I have an addictive personality, and I am very driven to get results.

ok so the woman gave an interview that she probably shouldn't have. She has been a very good Chief of Staff, she's allowed a misstep. Move on, there are bigger things to talk about.

2 bffs in the admin who are too yappy for the public good, 'exclusively' yappy, or otherwise. VF?? aarrgghh.
these 2 ladies would do well to direct their energies toward attending to personnel, and prosecutions.
the djt admin should not be the sideshow at the county fair. they should be at prayer. girls are dying.
