Spain's government is preparing to block an agreement among NATO countries to raise defence spending to 5% of GDP just days out from a major summit, Spanish media has reported. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is pushing for members of the transatlantic security bloc to boost their defence spending to 5% GDP by 2032, after US President Donald Trump declared America's allies were shirking their responsibilities. The proposal stipulates that 3.5% of GDP should be earmarked for core military spending with a further 1.5% dedicated to broader security-related areas such as infrastructure.

Comments:

There are more recent articles out there, but few with the graphic showing who's spending (at least 2% of GDP) and who the scofflaws are... Would love to see those spending under 2% told that their calls for help will be ignored... Let's withdraw NORAD from Canada (and just look after ourselves) and while we're at it, let's move NATO HQ from Belgium to Greece....

If 2% is the number, 2% should be the price of admission. No 2%, no NATO. But then I think NATO is a toothless anemic lion and the huge military umbrella of the US has allowed Western Europe to fund every outlandish stupid social program imaginable at US taxpayer expense. Cut them all off and maybe they will stop importing their own death in the form of Muslim savages from every hell hole on this planet.

Spaniards and their government continue their progress backwards, as their history shows. Arrogant and rude, they think they are/know/act better than their peers. And this is a country that had to install toilets in public bathrooms in order to belong to the EU.

The demise of NATO is near. Most of the EU is broke from sheer stupidity with open borders and Green bull crap. They have lost the will to sacrifice for their own needs and defense and now haven't the money. Their decline is only exceeded by their immorality and Godlessness. And WE aren't far behind. Heaven help us all.

#7, Not one European country, even the most poverty stricken, is as broke as our country is. We are the brokest country the world has ever known. Actually, I don't blame them for not wanting to spend more money on defense. They have to save as much as they can so they can buy the millions of candles they're going to need for when their power goes out the next time. An old joke, I'll repeat here because it's true....What did socialists countries use before candles? Electricity.

Spain is going to be conquered by the muslim hordes that are taking over the whole of Europe so NATO can't help those who voluntarily give in to the enemy. I love Spain, but they are forgetting their own history. They should remember that they were overrun by the Moors in olden times. They might have enjoyed an association such as NATO stepping in to help them defend themselves. Now, they do not want to increase spending to 5%. If they chip in only 3%, then the other NATO members are only obligated to give a partial help. Perhaps they should step out of the organization.

The critical follow-on function for a devastating strike like the one Donald Trump just launched against the goat-molesting seventh-century semi-humans ruling Iran is battle damage assessment. BDA is a crucial function – you need to understand how much pain you inflicted and calculate whether you need to inflict some more. But you don’t just do it on the enemy; you have to do it on yourself, too. It’s vital that we, as America First conservatives, conduct our own BDA on what this strike did to our movement.

President Trump on Monday blasted former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev over remarks suggesting Iran’s allies could supply it with nuclear warheads as Tehran promises to retaliate for U.S. strikes on its nuclear facilities. “The enrichment of nuclear material — and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons — will continue,” Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, said in a Sunday X post. “A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.” Trump took to Truth Social to ask if Medvedev was “casually throwing around the ‘N word’ (Nuclear!).”

On Sunday morning Russia's former president and current deputy chairman of the country's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev issued his reaction to the major US overnight strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, giving what's essentially the view of where things stand from the Kremlin. Medvedev in a ten-point list of reactions characterized the attacks as ultimately ineffective, and that it will blow back on America and Israel in a way opposite than intended, especially as Tehran will now only push harder for a nuke, and allied countries might now simply be willing to supply them to the Iranians, he described.

Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, said on Telegram that its agents had mined the piers of the road and rail Crimean Bridge, also called the Kerch Bridge, and detonated the first explosive at 4.44 a.m. Tuesday. The whole operation took several months, it added. The agency said it had used 1,100 kilograms of explosives which “severely damaged” the underwater pillars supporting the bridge.

This is a fair question from Matt Continetti, who recites some of the relevant quotations before posing it. I'll add to the list. President Bill Clinton described a nuclearlzed Iran as intolerable and signed the Iran Nonproliferation Act of 2000, "which authorize[d] him to take punitive action against individuals or organizations known to be providing material aid to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs in Iran." President George W. Bush intoned in 2008 that "permitting the world’s leading sponsor of terror to possess the world’s deadliest weapon would be an unforgivable betrayal of future generations."

Zohran Mamdani, winner of the Democratic Party’s New York City mayoral primary, is overflowing with Marxist ideas of how to govern that are so lousy that it’s hard to believe he got more than his own vote in Tuesday’s election. Each of them is horrendous, from free bus services to rent control to punitive taxes on those who create prosperity, but none are quite so laughable as his proposal to establish a chain of city-run grocery stores. Mamdani’s campaign literature – overflowing with empty leftist jargon – says if elected he “will create a network of city-owned grocery stores focused on keeping prices low, not making a profit.”

The White House strongly disputed the intelligence assessment and criticized the leakers within the intelligence apparatus. “This alleged ‘assessment’ is flat-out wrong and was classified as ‘top secret’ but was still leaked to CNN by an anonymous, low-level loser in the intelligence community.

The stolen document guessed that the efforts by Israel and America to neutralize Iran’s nuclear weapon program had set back the program by only “a few months.” CNN and the rest of the media cabal could hardly contain their glee. They celebrated the failure of America and Israel. Hardly mentioned in CNN’s report was that the document itself noted that its conclusions were merely “preliminary” and were expressed with only “low confidence.”
