Ukraine said on Tuesday that it had hit the bridge connecting Russia and the occupied Crimean Peninsula with explosives planted underwater, in its third attack on the vital supply line for Moscow’s forces since the full-scale war began in 2022. Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, said on Telegram that its agents had mined the piers of the road and rail Crimean Bridge, also called the Kerch Bridge, and detonated the first explosive at 4.44 a.m. Tuesday. The whole operation took several months, it added.
The agency said it had used 1,100 kilograms of explosives which “severely damaged” the underwater pillars supporting the bridge.

It almost seems like the peace talks have made both sides intensify their fighting.

It;s a war. All's fair. Makes me think of an old movie we watched recently.
We watch many old western movies, mostly from the 1940s thru 1960s. Stars that we were barely aware of now are well known to us. A few days ago in a Glenn Ford movie "The Violent Men", released in 1955, was on. Glenn Ford plays the small rancher, and he is a former civil war officer who doesn't carry a gun, and repeatedly says "I don't carry a gun to avoid violence, I had enough of that in the war."
The big rancher, taking over the "whole valley" by driving out the small ranchers by force is Edward G. Robinson, with Barbra Stanwyck as his evil conniving wife....more vicious than the men, apparently the title was intended to be ironic.
In any case, when Robinson's men start to do small attacks, like killing one of Ford's ranch hands, he rides to Robinson's ranch and in a confrontation tells them "Don't start a range war with me. You will NOT LIKE the way I fight wars."
The Ford character proceeds to pull back and set up an ambush on the raiders who come the next night and burn his ranch house to the ground and Ford's men manage to kill 8 of the Robinson raiders on their way home. The next night he burns Robinson's ranch, and barns.
It goes on until Robinson recognizes that his wife is driving more violence than he wanted. And peace is restored. Better than average western.
But, why do I mention this old movie? Because I think of this when Putin attacked Ukraine. Ukraine didn't want that "range war" but they are fighting back any and all ways that they can, and 'fair' doesn't much enter into anything the Russians have done in the last 800 years of history.
Perhaps eventually, the pain will be enough that Putin stops attacking Ukraine and we can have peace.

Throwing rocks at Russia then yelling for the US to come help them. I think we have to steadily object to the behavior of both sides here. We can be mad at everyone at once. It is just a matter of taking enough vitamins and getting exercise. Let's go!

FTA:
Traffic on the bridge was suspended early Tuesday morning, then again mid-afternoon, before resuming shortly before 6 p.m. local time.
They didn't destroy it?

At this point, if I were in charge, I would tell both sides (and the EU to boot) that we're taillights in the rear view mirror....you want to fight/fund a war, go at it without us, and keep Miss Lindsey and DaNang Dick while you're at it.

The Psych damage to the bridge is much greater than knocking it down. It forces the Russians to look at it for a while, figure out how they will remove it at their cost, and re-build it. Even with the best engineers and contractors in the world this bridge rebuild will take 10 months. Remember winter there is only 4 months away.

Stop with the gaslighting. Ukraine didn’t do squat. This is pure, global deep state, facilitated by our own CIA and corrupt, war mongers like Lyndsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal.

So, defending yourself from an invasion is now "throwing rocks at Russia"? Former? Hah.

#2. Interesting side note on Glenn Ford from his movie "The Fastest Gun Alive". By all accounts, he really was extremely fast on the draw and could have been pretty deadly in the old West.
However, I think your allusion is back to front. VPP has been fighting a SMO (one hand behind his back). Even so, the Russians propose a short truce for the Ukrainians to clear their dead. The corpses are stinking up things as the weather warms.
You're correct that the destruction of bridges is legitimate in war, what is not is collapsing it on civilians. However, while the Ukrainians/Nato are focused on pinprick PR attacks, Russia marches on taking more and more land at a faster pace. I heard someone say that the Russian army's goal is to attack an area if they have chance of a kill ratio of better than 8:1. To date, it appears it's been more like 27:1. If the EU doesn't hurry up and put more troops in there it's all over. Maybe some of those clever Ukrainian scientists can channel some of Miss Lindsay's hot air into an effective weapon?

Seems to me Ukraine is driving up the costs to Russia, trying to force Putin to the table.

I have been wondering for a couple of years why Ukraine was not using more guerrilla tactics. With the proximity of Russia and Ukraine, I don't see how there can be a winner of this war. Even a battlefield victory will only continue in the streets, building to building, door to door. The whole war is insanity brought on by the EU and American leftists, and Putin, who's thinking is still in the USSR era. The US needs to get free of this mess some way.

#12 For Russia Ukraine is only a stepping stone to take over other countries, even said by the Russian V.P.
