Little-known Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani upset former Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City on Tuesday night. The governor conceded the race shortly after 10 p.m., though ranked-choice voting totals have yet to be tabulated.
Self-described democratic socialist Mamdani led Cuomo by more than seven percentage points late Tuesday night, with almost 90 percent of the votes counted. Mamdani had 43.5 percent of the vote, with the former governor trailing at 36.3 percent when he conceded.
“Tonight was not our night,” Cuomo said in his remarks. “Tonight was Assemblyman Mamdani’s night.”

I have to stop saying, “it couldn’t possibly get worse,” because it always seems to get worse. What the actual … NYC? Gotham is looming.

Maybe, Cuomo, if you hadn't killed all those grannies a few years back in COVID days, you would have gotten enough votes to win. But it does take a special quality to lose a 40 point lead.
If I were Florida, Texas, or Tennessee, I might consider tightening rules or laws for state residency. Maybe build a wall on the border closest to New York.

The media mentions Cuomo's propensity for sexual harassment but nobody mentions the hundreds of COVID murders except those who lose dear relatives. Why not? New Yawkers be crazy. A couple of years of the rabid socialist and the city will be totally dead.

I don't believe any of the "selections" any longer. I doubt very many voted for him, or anybody else.

Well, London went down this path a few years ago electing a Muslim as mayor. How's that worked out? All this proves this that you can't reason with stupid people. They'll keep voting for people who will make things worse.

Less than 24 years after 9/11. I guess the “If you see something, say something” New Yorkers have forgotten that huge hole in the southern tip of Manhattan.
This guy wants government run grocery stores. Having lived behind the Iron Curtain for a few years, I know all about those. People thought the partially empty shelves during covid were a disaster? Wait until the shelves are completely empty and people are standing on the sidewalks in the hot sun in long lines to buy paper cups with a few cracked eggs in them. I’ve seen that. The only silver lining? There will be a lot fewer obese people.
Dear New Yorkers, when you flee your open sewer of a city, DON’T come to South Carolina!

If you want to stay in NYC, guess the plan is to kiss tyrant rear end and hope they throw some scraps your way. Kiss your wealth, rights, and freedoms goodbye. If this is the end result of representative government, it no longer works.

Not a surprise...New York is run by the machine ....just like Chicago...and democrats pull out the illegals to do what they say....it used to be the democrats controlled the black vote...but President Trump changed that with his victory in 2024...the blacks woke up...especially the black men....and no matter how many black women are put into power positions...it's not as easy as they thought....and Sec Rubio has captured the hispanic vote ...he's marvelous!!

If Mamdani is ultimately successful and becomes mayor, the FO that the voters will experience will be immense ~ something on the order of a metaphorical nuclear bomb. Those people who can leave will flee taking their tax dollars with them. Tourists may decide on other, safer destinations. How will the new mayor pay for all his promised freebies? It'll be interesting although sad to watch.
My sympathy bucket is empty.

Thy know that Trump, MAGA, and the GOP will not like their choice. Thats why they do these things. Dims never think "what's good for the city/state/country", they only think "what will the MAGA people hate?"

I have to believe that many votes were cast against Cuomo instead of for the socialist, coupled with the fact that most voters sit out primaries. The rank voting method is going to help the socialist.
