Police officers are urging Canadians not to publicly share home security footage of porch pirate mail thieves, claiming it could be a violation of their privacy rights and defamatory. Quebec provincial police (SQ) communications officer Lt. Benoit Richard told citizens “You cannot post the images yourself because you have to remember, in Canada, we have a presumption of innocence.”
Instead, Richard suggested calling 911 if anything was stolen.
“We’ll do the investigation, bring that person to justice and file some charges,” he added.

Now that photographic or video content can be faked, they're no longer trustworthy as evidence without credible analysis. So responding to this calls for more reflection and less reflex.

Hmmm? A stranger enters my property. This individual, without my consent, then proceeds to absconds with items belonging to me. But in my attempt to recover my stolen items I am prohibited from publishing a photo of this individual in the act of stealing on my property because they have a right to privacy on my land. This is very odd thinking indeed.

Is it OK if I post a picture of their body on my lawn? Asking for a friend.

Castro junior's decrees would be nothing more than a wish list if not for the thugs more than willing to enforce them. If you ever wondered how the whole Holocaust thing happened, just look North.

So in today's Canada...a Wanted posted could be considered a violation of of a perp's privacy? What about the privacy of the victims that the perp robbed? Liberals are too drunk with power to know what's right & wrong anymore.

I have never understood why anyone in this country admired anything about Canada. They are just plain stupid, rude, and cold. Maybe it is because they live in Northern climes.

They just want to force people to allow strangers access to their property. You mean the Amazon driver would just stick to the garage, if given a key?

In 1776 Canada got it totally, pathetically wrong. And they have been suffering under the Brits ever since.
They will forever be the cautionary tale of what you get when you are a colony and never are permitted actual freedom, and never get to write an actual Constitution.
The lack of a Constitution is THE fatal flaw in the British, Canadian and Australian government systems, all minor variations on the original Brit system.
The "rights" of a subject are whatever the government decides they are....and tomorrow can be completely different than yesterday. And there is NO recourse beyond a revolution, but the Brits have no guns, and the Aussies have damned few, and the Candians.....some, but getting fewer all the time as the government works to disarm their subjects, to protect the government.

Oh horrors. They
cannot tell their neighbors to be alert, stall further attempts, just tell police which will end up in a lot of delays since police aren't supposed to do anything.
Be prepared for the pirates to give
raspberries, the middle finger, curse you out or worse. I envision Amazon and other online organizations losing business.

In good old Cana-duh porch pirates deserve "privacy" as they steal packages that don't belong to them. In my neck of the North Carolina woods in the good old USA they'll get to see my new 12-gauge present in action. Or have a meet and greet with my lovable but very protective German Shepherd named King. I personally would NOT want option 2.
