Johns Hopkins Hospital has sparked outrage after its DEI chief sent out a letter labeling all white people, Christians, men and English-speakers as 'privileged'. The letter, posted on Twitter by End Wokeness, was written by Chief Diversity Officer Sherita Hill Golden, was part of the 'monthly diversity digest'. A furious hospital employee shared the memo with the Twitter account. In it, Dr. Hill explains that 'privilege' is the 'diversity word of the month'. To explain who the phrase applies to, she offered a list. It reads: 'Privilege is characteristically invisible to people who have it. 'White people, able-bodied people, heterosexuals, cisgender people, males Christians,

Last I heard, freedom of religion is not a "privilege" but a right under the First Amendment to our Constitution. Why is it so many professors can't tell the difference between a right and a privilege? Why do they tolerate, and sometimes teach hatred when it comes to religion? https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendment They should all take a minute to refresh their memories

I suspect this is a check-box for them. They have their DEI Dean. So they're covered. I don't believe the school (meaning the board of directors) actually believes this stuff. But the problem is the students and faculty end up thinking this is what it's about. It's poor ideals to give it much attention. DEI should be, "ok, all, let's make sure we're not being jerks to someone". Instead it's become, "Listen to me and I will tell you how to think."

About 6 years ago, I had a conversation with a woman whose husband was a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The hospital is not in a nice area. The employees had been told to not use their cellphones while walking in that neighborhood. It's best to constantly be alert. Also, when driving thru that neighborhood, always leave a distance between the cars when stopped for a stop sign or traffic light. If something is happn'g to the car in front of you, you have a way to drive away to safety.

Re #22. A friend who is now a college professor research scientist arrived in about 1976 at Johns Hopkins to do his post graduate research work. He parked his car on the street across from the JH main building and walked over to check in. In the 30 minutes or so doing this, he returned to his car....it had been broken into, and everything stolen. The biggest loss for him was his research microscope slides and photographs...which were of exactly zero value to the thieves. He felt really like he'd been treated badly, until two days later. Another post grad student arrived, did the same basic thing, but he was assaulted on the street and shot and killed on his first hour in the hell that Baltimore was 50 years ago. it's almost certainly more dangerous now.

It felt like being a new recruit going through the medical phase of boot camp. And they were left wing back then - I refused an amniocentesis on the grounds that the only reason to have one was to be given the option of an abortion if something was wrong with the baby. Republican presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley once seemingly parroted a talking point used by Democrats that suggests climate change is partially to blame for mass immigration to the United States and other countries. In January 2017, Haley went before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to be confirmed as ambassador to the United Nations (UN) in then-President Donald Trump’s administration. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), in a written question, asked Haley about so-called “climate refugees,” as Democrats claim that mass immigration to the U.S. and other countries is partially due to global warming’s destroying crops, conditions, and communities in certain regions of the world. Joe Biden on Friday traveled to Allentown, Pennsylvania to shuffle around for a couple hours. After emerging from three days outside of public view, Joe Biden will not be delivering a speech during his visit to Allentown. He will only be visiting a few local businesses. Biden visited Nowhere Coffee Company and spoke with workers at South Mountain Cycle on Main Street in Emmaus, according to WFMZ. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Bob Casey and Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk also joined Joe Biden.
