UAW launches strike against Big 3 automakers

Original Article

A union representing nearly 150,000 autoworkers launched a strike early Friday morning against the Big 3 U.S. automakers -- General Motors, Ford and Stellantis. The United Auto Workers, or UAW, and the car manufacturers failed to reach a contract agreement before a deadline set by the union for Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET. Less than two hours before the deadline, UAW president Shawn Fain announced the plants where union members would strike if a tentative agreement wasn't reached in time. By midnight Friday, that amounted to approximately 12,700 union workers, including ones at GM in Wentzville, Missouri; Stellantis in Toledo, Ohio; and Ford’s Wayne, Michigan plant.

While wearing my tinfoil hat tonight, I received this transmission: The dealerships have a backlog of EVs on their lots they can't sell. The UAW strikes and that stops the deliveries of any new ICE vehicles, thus forcing any new car buyers into an EV or nothing. End of transmission.

No one is buying new cars because they are so expensive. New cars are being repossessed because people can't pay their debts. No one is buying EVs they make. The Big Three are in financial trouble. So the UAW strikes. Makes sense. Must be that the UAW has adopted Bidenomics.

The UAW’s demands are laughable and they know it. The union members are being used as pawns in a bigger game. They will receive ‘strike pay’, which is next to nothing while UAW leadership pass by picketers in their limos and wave. Whatever increase they get now will never make up for the loss of income while they stand on the sidewalk.

Unfortunately more non-Union folks related to the industry will lose their jobs. This is why unions have no sympathy from most people. Anywhere else in America you would be liable for losses. Anywhere else in America you would be charged with racketeering. Laws that apply to everyone else do not apply.

The unions are nothing but conspiracies to pay themselves more than the market would, and pay those additions by charging others being paid at market wages. Maybe one day people will realize they are being had, but I doubt it.

I believe that they have gone a bridge too far. A 20% increase should more than make up the Bidenflation resulting electing Biden, but a 40% pay increase and 40 hours pay for 32 hour of work is outrageous! I hope they enjoy the strike fund funded vacation. I sure Biden will enjoy taxing it. This will price US autos out of the auto market. #RIP

After an hourslong standoff, a 29-year-old man suspected of gunning down a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested. Kevin Cataneo Salazar is accused of ambushing and killing Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer, 30, as the deputy was in his patrol car at an intersection Saturday, Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna said. Salazar surrendered after deputies deployed chemical agents at his home Monday. The sheriff has described the deputy’s killer as a “coward” who took Clinkunbroomer’s life “while he’s sitting at a red light, waiting to serve our community.”

The pilot was able to safely eject from the aircraft, an F-35B Lightning II jet, and was taken to a local medical center in stable condition, it said in a Facebook post around 5:35 p.m. ET. New court documents claim that Border Patrol agents temporarily separated some migrant families this summer, a practice President Joe Biden once called an “abhorrent.” In a Friday court filing, Dr. Paul Wise, a pediatrician tasked with monitoring the conditions and treatment of migrant children in U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody, said that he found children as young as 8 were separated from their parents by the Biden administration. The separations were done mainly to prevent overcrowding in short-term holding facilities, but Wise warned that they could have a lasting effect on children.

It is spread from secretions from animals, through contaminated food and contact with the tissue of sick animals. Fruit bats are the natural carriers of the virus and have been identified

The Soviets successfully pulled off a number of dirty tricks which increased their power but impoverished their citizens. Among them was to stir up class warfare by politicizing envy. Thus, unsuccessful farmers were urged to demonize and even kill “kulaks” -- that is, any productive farmer in the area. Another trick was to fail to provide factories with sufficient raw materials to fulfill the overly optimistic state-set production quotas and then criminally prosecute factory managers who couldn’t meet these targets as "saboteurs.” It deflected from their own failures but unsurprisingly resulted in a shortage of qualified managers and engineers.
