Governor Chris Sununu (R-NH) said Monday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that former President Donald Trump can not win the presidential election in November 2024 because his ceiling of popularity is at 45%. Sununu said, “So one of the key points of that poll showed that about a third of Trump supporters would consider somebody else. When you look at the favorable/unfavorable of all the different candidates DeSantis is better than former President Trump, Tim Scott has strong numbers. Other candidates are showing strong numbers.” He continued, “I think we all agree the former president’s floor is high, 32, 33, 34%, but his ceiling is also very low. Realistically

Unfortunately, Sununu is right. RealClearPolitics continues to call Biden the winner and has for months. Trump has divided the Republican Party in Georgia, Arizona, Michigan (where a fight recently broke out in a state committee meeting), Pennsylvania, and probably a few others. Georgia is a red state, with an R governor and legislature, but with two Democrat senators, thanks to Trump, who turned the Senate in 2020. In 2022, Trump-supported candidates lost 12 House seats, 4 Senate seats, and 4 Secretaries of State (who oversee state elections). He's running a campaign focused on 2020 and continuing his attack on Rinos, who he'll need to win, along with independents and Democrats willing to say good-bye to Biden. I'd love to support him if I thought he had a chance, but he shows no winning strategy to beat Biden. And I'm not about to send a dollar to the campaign of a billionaire, not knowing how much of that dollar will go toward fighting Joe and how much will go to his defense. Flame away. I wish I were wrong, but as Ben Franklin said, "He who lives on hope dies fasting".

Chris Sununu, like Romney and Jeb, are sons of establishment Republicans. He has never known life of middle class working Americans and has no interest in understanding them. Chris Sununu is no different than the fops who kissed up to the monarchs of old Europe and saw the productive classes as serfs to be exploited. And like the elites of old, he must be driven from power

Consider yourself flamed, #16. The states where the republican party is divided are coincidentally the ones where massive cheating took place in 2020. They are divided because many of the republicans were too cowardly to challenge the proven fixing of the elections to protect their own skins and can be counted upon to act selfishly in the future. Hope must be accompanied by action in order to be successful, everybody knows that.

In what could be described as the worst-kept secret in politics, former President Donald Trump has decided he will not participate in the Republican presidential debates. He cited his commanding double-digit lead in Republican primary polls as the main reason for not participating. It would be the second presidential election cycle in which Trump broke tradition and skipped a debate. However, while the Trump campaign may think it’s a shrewd political maneuver, it’s actually self-destructive insofar as it establishes a precedent for President Joe Biden to skip debating Trump (assuming he is the GOP nominee) in the general election.
