By skipping debate, Trump sets precedent
for Biden not to debate him

In what could be described as the worst-kept secret in politics, former President Donald Trump has decided he will not participate in the Republican presidential debates. He cited his commanding double-digit lead in Republican primary polls as the main reason for not participating. It would be the second presidential election cycle in which Trump broke tradition and skipped a debate. However, while the Trump campaign may think it’s a shrewd political maneuver, it’s actually self-destructive insofar as it establishes a precedent for President Joe Biden to skip debating Trump (assuming he is the GOP nominee) in the general election.

What a joke! There is NO WAY that Biden's handlers would let SloJoe within a mile of a debate stage with Trump. SloJoe has enough on his hands when speaking to a friendly crowd.

Trump is right. Christopher Tremoglie is wrong. Does he really believe Biden would do anything because of "tradition". Biden will skip the debate regardless of whether Trump debates in the republican debates or not. I fully expect that Biden will say he's not debating Trump because of 1/6 or other nonsense. Besides, I think debates have passed their prime. They are always stacked against the conservative candidate. And the questions, and answers are always lame. Another reason, the RNC requires a "loyalty" pledge. That "loyalty" goes in one direction. They want Trump to swear loyalty to the RNC and whatever candidate the RNC installs, but if Trump wins, the RNC will continue to backstab Trump. I've been a republican my entire life but lately, it's just a uniparty. I wouldn't swear loyalty to the RNC either. Then lastly, as Trump says, what's the point in him debating? What's the upside. None, nada. I wouldn't debate either.

First, Diaper Joe, not Trump set the precedent. Diaper Joe announced over a month ago he would not debate that Kennedy guy. Strange how that was a nothing burger back then and now Maxine Waters is calling for Trumps impeachment.

Trump should never dignify Biden with a debate. Biden is a CROOK who not only sold out the country for bribes, his party stole the '20 election from Trump. To stand on the stage with him is to legitimize him and to ostensibly forgive the crimes.

What would be the point of a Trump Biden debate?

Still, I would love to watch the battle of words and gobbledeygook on that stage.

Biden doesn’t have anything to say anyway and Trump has it all. Mumbles is useless and burden to us all.

Mr. Tremoglie should get over himself. Biden could not debate a four year-old about how to go potty or which flavor ice cream is best. People who pretend that Biden is in some way a normal human being are willingly self-deceived. It will not stay hidden for much longer how this brain damaged out patient was placed in the Oval Office.

What difference does that make? Biden will have predetermined questions and a goon on an earbud to tell him how to answer. That's not a debate.

Biden will not debate Trump under any circumstances. It's about as likely as Hillary Clinton becoming an Olympic Gymnast or Michelle Obama playing the lead in "The Little Mermaid."

Would a debate between Trump and Biden be on CNN? If you think Fox is bad, CNN would be worse, but Trump would be able to name every rotten thing Biden and the Dems have done to this country, and Biden could only stand there and wet his britches.

In theory the debates seem like a good idea. However, I don't think very many people change their mind because of a debate. Perhaps the first one (1960) when Nixon had hot lights aimed at him which caused sweat. But never again.

Most of us know the Examiner leans left. This propaganda. And it is unlikely that Biden will debate anyone.

I hate the arguing in the debates. No one gets to complete a thought.
The moderators are biased. Questions are not balanced.

Biden the cheater can't even debate an empty chair at this point. He's too far gone. Besides, it is just a matter of time before he gets pushed aside by his handlers.

Christopher, maybe you were too young to remember the 2020 election year campaign. Biden didn’t debate then, either.

There are several problems with these debates in general.
A: the democrat can make any accusation, make up any facts or outright lie without pushback from the moderator.
B: no matter how the debate goes, the media will always give the win to the democrat.
C: democrats always spend half their time or more attacking the republican.
D: there is never enough time for the republican to refute the allegations from points A and C.

Probably won't make any difference if there are "Presidential Debates" in 2024.
First. the Commission that runs the debates is more-or-less like a bunch of wolves (Dems) deciding whether they're gonna have sheep (Republicans) as their main course at dinner. Yeah, there's a sheep or two among the Commissioners, but they've been declawed and aren't tasty to these wolves.
Second, any "moderator" will gladly carry the water for Biden and the Democrats. If Sleepy Creepy Crooked President Old Uncle Joe gets in a bind (ie, tells a lie, loses his place, is getting beat by Trump), they will step in and "even" the score into Joe's favor. I'm sure they can find Candy Crowley or Chris Wallace again.

"By running around the country holding massive rallies of hundreds of thousands, in every state and district, Trump created the precedent....for Biden to not leave his BASEMENT.... hold few if any public appearances, and those restricted to invited union member guewst, other local politicians...even the MEDIA was only allowed a few socially distanced representatives...ZERO questions taken"
If Biden wants to insist upon following "Trumps precedents" he should take as many or MORE questions from reporters...Trump went 100 days straight taking unlimited questions EVERY DAY during Covid
(until the media realized they were getting destroyed, narratives dying daily, and recruited NYC Coumo to start having pressers at the same time that they could cover instead replete with gratuitous Trump Bashing by NYC dems)

Carter, even as an incumbent president running for re-election in 1980, was destined to lose that year, but Reagan's 2nd debate line, "There you go again," highlighting Carter's lies and typical democrat hyperbole put the fork in Carter and helped to provide sufficient coattails for the GOP to win back one of the chambers of Congress (picking up 12 seats in the Senate) for the first time since 1954. Burying Biden in a Trump-Biden debate could go a long way towards retaining a 2024 Republican House majority and taking back the Senate. Despite a lot of pretending that there is no difference in democrats and Republicans, GOP control of the three branches of government is essential to reversing the damage done by progressives.
