Ron DeSantis Slams Trump's 'Sense of Entitlement'
Over Skipping Debates

Former President Donald Trump is displaying his "sense of entitlement" by deciding to not participate in the 2024 GOP presidential primary debates, according to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Sunday that he would "not be doing" any of the Republican debates, while boasting that "the public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had." The former president previously indicated that he would be skipping the first debate, which is set to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday. The decision to skip the debates quickly drew condemnation from Trump critics

Perhaps President Trump's refusal to participate will be the final nail in the current debate format coffin. Lamestream media reporters asking gotcha questions is so last century! It would be nice to get back to a real debate format. I'd like to see questions, submitted by the public, randomly picked out of a glass bowl by a moderator. Every candidate gets a timed response, overseen by the moderator; followed by an open debate with timed responses overseen by the moderator. Reporters should actually "report" the news, not participate in "making" it.

Entitled?! Really? President Trump has a proven record of success during his presidency which is why he has the people’s trust and loyalty. He worked hard for our votes and delivered. You and the rest of the want-a-be’s continue to bash him but nothing you can do can erase his accomplishments. More importantly, in this time in history when the country is in such grave danger how about you put your ego aside and work with PDT to defeat this lawless enemy that will destroy everything that we all hold dear. Is this really the time for disunity? For the sake of the country quit playing the same old deep state games that have enabled these radical zealots to take a wrecking ball to this country. We have one shot. Let’s go with the guy we know will move heaven and earth to drag the country back from the abyss. Before the rest of you bash me for not wanting debate to “sharpen the candidates skills”, this is not your granddaddy’s election cycle. This will be the final battle in our cold civil war and if we don’t win, nothing matters. The country will be lost to these radical anti-American zealots. The best course of action is to send your finest warrior to the field of battle, not some bought and paid for politician.

Just spent the weekend working a county fair booth for our local GOP. President Trump shouldn't take anything for granted. Governor DeSantis is right. Rather than displaying confidence, President Trump is displaying arrogance...and entitlement. We're in a deep red area. Some that voted for him in 2020 will not turn out for him unless he presents a new case. While sympathetic regarding the crazy indictment circus, some are no longer confident that he can contain himself when he should.

I agree in principle with DeSantis but sort of understand Trump's unwillingness to get into a playground fight with outliers. However, participating at the same time in a live interview with a competitve media during the debate is typical of Trump's adolescent ego. "Hey look at me!" He should have gone dark during the debate and cogently commented later.

Two of Donald Trump’s key election lawyers, Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, surrendered Wednesday on charges in the Georgia election subversion case. The scene of Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and a notable former federal prosecutor, walking into the Fulton County jail is another amazing moment in the ongoing investigation into Trump and his efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat. One of Trump’s most outspoken attorneys in 2020, Giuliani was charged with 13 crimes, including breaking the state’s racketeering act, engaging in various criminal conspiracies, and soliciting a public officer in the state to violate their oath.

There is a lot of talk about Ron DeSantis being out of the running for the Republican nomination in 2024. He’s certainly behind, but the history of races for the nomination (and the general election) is littered with predictions like this that turn out to be wrong. Obama was going to lose. Biden was dead in the water. Kamala Harris! was a favorite. Trump had no chance. Remember that one? Everyone waited for the collapse of Trump in 2015-16. On the day of the election in 2016, The New York Times gave Hillary Clinton a 99% chance of victory, if you recall. So it’s no surprise that DeSantis shows no sign

In what could be described as the worst-kept secret in politics, former President Donald Trump has decided he will not participate in the Republican presidential debates. He cited his commanding double-digit lead in Republican primary polls as the main reason for not participating. It would be the second presidential election cycle in which Trump broke tradition and skipped a debate. However, while the Trump campaign may think it’s a shrewd political maneuver, it’s actually self-destructive insofar as it establishes a precedent for President Joe Biden to skip debating Trump (assuming he is the GOP nominee) in the general election.
